Question: How many of you are even going to notice little shit like the pillars are smooth rather then rough when your using your D3 equivilant of Enigma to teleport to Diablo and whoever the expansion's boss is to get your godly gear before anyone else?
I love how nobody answers this question...
Fact is, not a one of you will give a fuck, you all will get D3, get on Bnet, and start working on a level 99 character with gg gear, flying past everything without noticing any of the tiny little beauties that are in the game.
Aww, did I hurt y'all's feelings? Tough shit. Truth sucks, get used to it.
Monsters mouths are comic. Faces are not realistic. Evil must be serious and human-looked. Badness is stg inside, when u change the faces to stg dirt, its not serious.
You know the series "Dragonlance"? Raistlin Magere was a magician. He looks like very terrory. But he seems respectful.
I want to see a class/hero like it:
Did u see any character as it?
No..
Witch Doctor is a serious example of seriousness about the characters... Its not w3 man.. Its Diablo, its mean is Satan..
Mm... I thought it twice.. The Diablo-like feeling is not only from the colours..
The colours have to be darken.. But it is not enough..
i think it's fantastic and i know everything is done as it is for a reason as far as gameplay and looks go, this is the way diablo is meant to look, looks great guys Gj! looking foward to playing it.
I love it keep up the good work blizzard you guys mean quality and i will wait for this ive been waiting over half my life and this looks amazing. Everyone cares about the gothic feel but i dont mind i care about the fast paced hack-in-slash i always loved so please hurry lol im impatient but dont rush you guys mean quality like i already said and when it comes out i will spend many many hours playing with my friends and new people i love diablo and this looks amazing like i said again and hope you guys reveal more info soon and i pray i get into the beta thanks for reading this!
The more and more I think about it....it somewhat feels that they used this design concept to lure in those who find WoW aesthetically pleasing. I mean, if they get the WoW players to play it because of their love for Saturday Cartoon graphics...then really...who cares what the fans who have been playing since D1?
Meh....as far as the one persons comment about "will you notice things like the pillar when you're teleporting...blah blah blah"....yes...I would and it seems that many others would as well.
I would still play D3...but begrudgingly to say the least. And I would still complain about the graphics.
This type of graphic desing is fine for WoW because it's based off of WC.
It is, however, not acceptable for Diablo 3. The previous games, while sprites, did not look anything like this and wouldn't have if they were 3d. How do I know? Because the original designers weren't apart of the WC or WoW crew.
1st Post Whoop! Lovin the work Blizz. I think the lighter blue/green dark environments look cool but would love to see more environments with a heavier more saturated darkness (not to say that light & bright colours dont have their place).
I want to play a game that actually scares me, that will really seperate it from all other games. Either way however, I will most likely purchase this game as the quality will of course be excellent.

Psst, hey, name's LinkX. Nice to meet you. Anyway, yea, thing is, Team 3 doesn't work on WoW, Team 3 is for Diablo. See, Team 3 is an RPG team, not a mmo or rts team. So yea. Just figured I'd point it out.
Also, if you notice it, you are one of the few. And if you don't like it, don't play it. Simple concept. And a concept that will save you fifty bucks.
Fact is, not a one of you will give a fuck, you all will get D3, get on Bnet, and start working on a level 99 character with gg gear, flying past everything without noticing any of the tiny little beauties that are in the game.

Sounds like you're trying to troll but I will respond.
I played d2 all the way up to hell difficultly and then stopped playing so I never had the enigma thingy. So I will be looking at the graphics. Plus, your proposition only applies to Diablo 2 because who knows if d3 will allow boss rushing or if enigma will be a weapon.
Dragonov....you're comparing WoW dorfs with d3 skellies?
How about comparing WoW skellies with D3 skellies. Or WoW zombies with D3 zombies? I think you'll find a similarity.
-edit-
Don't worry Linkx...i reported you for flaming and trolling and trying to start crap in a thread that MD specifically said to keep free of all those things.
I loved every second of the gameplay video, and I assumed that there were going to be many different areas to explore, all with different feels to them. The colors and the graphics didnt bother me one bit. I loved it so much that I'm afriad to see it get tampered with cause Blizzard might be tempted to listen to a vocal minority.
If it means so much to people maybe they can give yall a post proc effect that you can turn off and on in video options, that gives everything a more grainy dark feel.
I just cant freakin wait to play, I love Diablo so much.
Why would they? So you can denounce their claims in a desperate attempt at comdey?
Lol. What? 1) It's spelled comedy. 2) Why would I denounce anything as "comedy"?

I like how you claimed to know the mind-set of each and every Diablo fan on the face of the Earth and decided to call your little estimation of the aforementioned a fact.
Right, and you really think there is going to be many games where you play old school through the whole game after the first week of it being out is over? You must live in a fantasy land.
Quote from name="Drake Tristan" »
Not mine. I don't let Internet comedians, whose posts' scream: "I'm-trying-way-too-hard," get to me.
All I can say is: Lol...

Meh. I've been reported before. I am a bit more blunt then most, so I doubt it will be my last time being reported for hurting people's feelings.

We all love Diablo so much;)
Somebody compares dwarfs wif zombies huh? Of course they have not similarities.
But feelin of terror is something serious, will D3 give us it?
The colours look fantastic to me, totally in keeping with a gothic style. People who think that a gothic feel necessitates greyness, or that dark mood requires drab colours are, I believe, a little confused and not to be taken too seriously.
No offence intended, of course, to the likes of Fargnbastage and Nebuchadnezzar2, I just disagree with you to the very core of my being.
I was thrilled when I saw the stained-glass effects they have used at various places on the site, and I hope that the artistic directors will keep true to whatever vision they have, regardless of the mewling hordes (including me). At this point, Blizzard has won from me the right to make a game without having to pander to vocal minorities and the bandwagon-jumpers they collect along the way.
Anyway, however it pans out, I can't wait. The moment I saw those ghouls scaling the walls to swarm the barbarian, I was sold.
Ok Dragonov...Use that same pic you have now of D3 with the abomination and put it side by side with the abomination from WoW. They are similar.
And in case you can't see the similarity in your own post...I'll help you.
The texture of the WoW skin is the same as the zombies in the D3 s/s. They are smooth, pale, and bright. It's as if they took the WoW zombie, shrunk it, and stuck it in D3...in fact...I'm sure that's exactly what they did.
Okay, right, well as someone who has a degree in, and a somewhat successful career in visual media, I have this to say: you're thoroughly dissapointed that the community is offering some very good, very valid constructive criticism? I'm genuinely shocked by the amount of people that share your ignorance.
You failed to point out why the "Diablo III needs to be darker, and grittier" argument is weak; instead you made a ludicrous claim and failed to back it up with any evidence whatsoever. The smoothness and colour scheme are, quite simply, the main reasons for the cartoon-like quality of the graphics, whether you want to believe so or not, that is a fact.
The colour scheme is bright and happy, even throughout the dungeon; if you want to argue that point, then I'm afraid the only thing that is ludicrous is you. Moving on, if you think that the term "gothic," when used to describe an atmosphere, simply means: "dark and purple," then, frankly, you're wrong. I'm not going to linger on this point seeing as it is so ridiculous it pretty much counters itself, but the fact that you think having the curtains coloured purple checks the "gothic" box shows how weak your argument truly is. The rest of your post is just filled with words repeating the same very few, very weak points you've raised and is so redundant that I'll just chuckle to myself and sweep it aside.
Oh please, continue to "rail against this line of thinking," I quite enjoyed obliterating your so-called "fodder." At least we agree on something, the music was absolutely spot-on.
Thanks for heuristically obliterating my argument , and its not "so-called" fodder if you actually used it as such. Nice try. Superficially I would rate the response terse, yet vapid. Well done. Although you did miss something: the logic train... DING! DING! DING... just missed it, man. I do however have a reasoning mallet I can use to drive the point home.
Argument that the "Diablo III needs to be [insert random adjective that is meant to describe the realization of terror through lighting /texture here]" reasoning is faulty is contained in what I wrote. By making the environment have slightly softer lines and edges (and thus giving a more real sense as argued in the natural image processing statement), the environment would thereby be more engaging. To say it is cartoonish is in itself flawed. The hard edge is a staple of cartoon drawing, which is absent in the gameplay. Therefore, say it with me, ' it is not cartoonish based on that reasoning'.
Second, you misunderstood what I was writing for the color palate. I had said people seem to be confusing the idea of a gothic atmosphere with "dark and purple", not arguing its merits. Read first, think second, reply much later. Furthermore if you think autumnal coloring is bright and happy, then I would chalk that up to a matter of personal taste. Nothing personal. Whatever works for you, man. Although, I would like to point out that the season itself is entirely about death as the eventual end to every successful growth cycle (and a theme used in gothic literature and imagery quite a bit), and as a backdrop for the outdoors environment does a good job at utilizing for that purpose.
I won't argue that you liking it is wrong. Some people think rhubarb tastes better with strawberries.
I think this color scheme is great and doesnt COME CLOSE to that of wow, not at all, im pretty sure the people who voted it needs to be more dark and grey are a little to dark and grey their selves and have to lighten up. and realize what it would actually look like if it were back in those times. diablo3 isnt some chalked up comic book that has way to much black splashed around the page to emphasize evil. if you dont like the colour scheme when the game comes out, you gothic kids get together and make yourself a mod so the game is black, cause if i rember, Lut gholien wasnt very black and grey in diablo 2, now hush up and let blizzard create their game, they havent failed us yet. have more faith get rid of some of that black blocking your brain from thinking realisticly.
