why diablo3 demo looks so wowlike?so cartoon-style??I think the fact is these artists from WOW dev is not fit our diablo...This is a very serious matter and hope that Blizzard can notice that...

DIFFERENT ARTISTS MAKES DIFFERENT GAME!!NEW CLASS of WoW above.
Transferring realism into 3D is not hard.
Just look at screens of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Age of Conan.
So, is there any reason they haven't done it up until now? Cause when I compare (as you did with the pics), the current build looks like shit. And it's supposed to be next gen.
I think those pictures in the origional post, are changed too much. I would love to see some color in a Diablo game, the first 2 didnt have enough. Maybe they could darken it a little in some places, but definately not as much as the first post pics show.
I think if they can keep the lighting how it is, (expecially the orange lights above the doorway), and darken the shadows a little. Maybe accent some of the details in the textures it would be perfect.
But remember, this isnt even in beta yet, they are only showing us a small portion of the game, we have no idea what the rest looks like.
the whole art style is wrong
so they can change and change and change , but still will not look like Diablo
i mean ,wtf rainbow when i play diablo3 i wanna feel the hole land suffer in terror from the arraival of diablo
i wanna see old trees without leafs, i wanna see the land cry ,the ground tremble
i dont want to walk in some stupid colourful elf forest
and wtf is whit that stupid grandpa barb and his face looks like shit
the armor its so wowlish, its stupid, ugly, lame,GREEN, just there soo many thinks wrong with it
How do you know Diablo is back yet? They said the people still think its all legend.

who said it was next gen? what is to stop blizzard to be hiering mmo developers under the cover of D3, when they are really working on world of Starcraft? i mean look at WoW... came out shortly after wc3, and look at the HUGE SUCESS. i mean HUUUGE.
you cant go next-gen without breaking the style of d3. I for one really hoped it would be "nextgen" myself, but that would require it to not be isometric for one. It was you fans who probably steered blizzard to keep D3 looking liek the originals, and maybe its for the best. Now stop complaining that you got what you wished for.
I agree wholeheartedly. Blizzard would be making a HUGE mistake if they went with this art style for release. How can they expect us to play such a dark game with a dark story without a dark setting. (Dark as the feeling not the color).
There's no grit in the new game so far. We need gothic, dark, miserable, and gritty textures. Not some that you recycled from WoW.
I just want to send a letter to blizzard telling them something along the lines as:
"We know that WoW is extremely popular, but please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE keep it's god damn art style out of your other games. It doesn't fit at all."
I hope to god Blizzard checks these forums.
The characters are so WoW like. Have you seen the dialogues? Oh my god. They are so ridiculously cartoony it isn't even funny.
Please Blizzard change the game! Don't let down all of us loyal Diablo fans!
I like the game the way it is. For the love of God you people just love to whine and bitch because it isn't the way YOU want it. QQ
I thought that dungeon was very "diabloesque". The outside world was a bit cheerier, but like someone else said all the evil gods have been gone for 20 years. Don't you think the world would start to look normal again? My 2 cents. Thanks.

man..do you like Wow or Diablo??? it looks like cartoon...wow undercover...
well dude if he isnt back then there is no point in playin diablo3 at all
please i dont want to start a fight whit you but please think a little before posting
and in the teaser they sayed that he's back and will charge a battle whit the heavens
I'm just quoting what they said in the panel. He could still come back during the game. I'm just pointing out why the first couple of areas might be lighter than the last couple.
How do you guys know that the rest of the game isn't going to be all "hellish tormented grounds". You saw the intro to 1 level of a game. Chill out, for real. The game will be awesome no matter what. Let them focus on making the game PLAY right, and not what you elitist "impossible to please" people think is the most important thing.

I really fear that Blizzard is going to inject what they learned from WoW into all their new franchises completely distorting them. I can understand it, for almost 4 years, from 2003-2007, that's all they've really been working on and focused on.
BUT ARE WE EVER GOING TO HAVE A UNIQUE ART STYLE FOR THE FRANCHISES AGAIN?
IS EVERY GAME GOING TO BE MADE WITH THE SAME ARTISTS?
By the golden year of 2003, Starcraft/Warcraft III/Diablo II looked very stylistically different, but it all worked and gave those franchises they're unique identity.
But they brightened up and blockified SC II. That's alright, because the core gameplay of Starcraft matters much more than the "mood" and Blizzard is always ton top of gameplay. But then they grittified it a bit and so the community took it smiling.
But this? Diablo? Almost the complete opposite of Warcraft? We aren't going to take it smiling and we aren't going to shut up about it.
You also have to remember that this is more then like pre-alpha stage, so right now they are more concerned about game play then how it looks, just look at SC2 it went thru the same stages, cartoonie in the beginning and more realistic as it progressed.
this is not true, d3 has been in the works longer than sc2 has and it IS heading in the colourfull and brightly lit style of WOW because there is a huge market for this style, especially in Asia. Is it horrific? YES, does it ruin the game? probably. But unless there is a larger motion to change how terrible it looks i think it will probably be released in a similar looking state.
blizzard is trying to find a base style to model their games after, unfortunately WOW is making them the most money currently so that is the style they are chasing.
Maybe it looks like this 'pretty' in the Beginning, but as you go Deeper & Deeper into the Dungeon it gets Darker & Scarier?
Blizzard probably WON'T change all this now, takes time to scrap all this and start over, but Blizzard probably hasn't done much of the Latter levels yet, and still have a chance/TIME to make it Darker/unpretty/Scary as hell...?

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
You misread the post. He said it looked like Diablo 3. That's the whole point of it.
aaah. i guess they do look similar, but i like d3 a hell of a lot better. though i agree it could use a little more dark, but i don't think it should be darkened visually as much as conceptually. mmm only example i can give is bioshock. Bright colors, but the environmental effects made that game.

The sad thing is that this screenshot rings true. This actually looks closer to Diablo 3 than the actual Diablo2 does.

any game with a cash shop is an abomination. sorry
God forbid you cant like both

Just my idea though.
QFT, listen to this man of reason!
