blizzard has already officially stated that they will use the havok physics engine in D3. ragdoll corpses is the big obvious one, don't know what other havoc fun things blizzard decided to include. I don't think this will cut the release date down any though

No no no and no. I like the fact you can jack up a character and have to restart it adds a lot to the replay of the game. Respec allows you to go oh I fucked up let me fix that. CLICK ok all good now. Go ahead wow fans flame on.

i don't like replaying games. many people dont. i especially dont liek being FORCED to replay games... i never replayed d2, a good 2 hour uberlevlign session was all i needed to build something new. and if it took me two hours to grind up the money needed for a respec, i would not mind

You misread the post. He said it looked like Diablo 3. That's the whole point of it.

aaah. i guess they do look similar, but i like d3 a hell of a lot better. though i agree it could use a little more dark, but i don't think it should be darkened visually as much as conceptually. mmm only example i can give is bioshock. Bright colors, but the environmental effects made that game.

nubs that screenshot is mythos. reason it resembles d2 is it made by flagship, the same people that claim to have amde d2 and made hellgate

any game with a cash shop is an abomination. sorry

So, is there any reason they haven't done it up until now? Cause when I compare (as you did with the pics), the current build looks like shit. And it's supposed to be next gen.

who said it was next gen? what is to stop blizzard to be hiering mmo developers under the cover of D3, when they are really working on world of Starcraft? i mean look at WoW... came out shortly after wc3, and look at the HUGE SUCESS. i mean HUUUGE.

you cant go next-gen without breaking the style of d3. I for one really hoped it would be "nextgen" myself, but that would require it to not be isometric for one. It was you fans who probably steered blizzard to keep D3 looking liek the originals, and maybe its for the best. Now stop complaining that you got what you wished for.

taking color out is not the only way to make the atmosphere darker. I definitelyl dont want to lose detail, but i agree so far the environment does not fit the hell on earth scenario well, though unless we start seeing clocks melting, its going to be hard to depict this in a game

Re-spec does ruin the character. I'd like to end up feeling my Barbarian as a person focused on WW and Leap et cetera. Being able to change what he has learned is silly.

    NO!

Silly is for the role-players. if you want to roleplay, i hope to god they give you ur own server. If you want to be the best you can be, then respecing is a valuable tool to learn exactly what there is out there.

im nto saying that unlimited respecs are a good idea. But i see nothing wrogn with people working their ass of for respecs, just liek they woudl work their ass of for gear. People that spend their grind time on respecing rather then gear would know their class better i think... an i want that to be an option. Brings a lot of player "skill" to the game

respecs will encourage cookie cutter builds. = lame. although balancing changes in the begging owuld not make people happy.

i dont see how this could happen. d2 was the ULTIMATE example of being overrun with cookie cutter builds... please support your claims people like i did

if you are to afraid of all skill builds being the same, NOT respecing will casue this moreso then respeccing will. Look at the d2 hamerdin. I have never seen a different hammerdin in my life... Look at the WoW warlock. I rarely see the same two warlocks, and if i do odds are they both suck.

Respecing comes han in han with a well balansed talent tree. Respeccing allows the INDIVIDUAL player to play around and see what HE likes best. If this si doen correctly, what you end up with is a charecter that is well tailored to the person playing it. Repecing at least in WoW allows for diverce and effective play styles, and gives the game a stratagy feel, leaving cookiecutter builds for the nubs.

To be fair, they haven't mentioned anything about the RPG mechanics. For all we know, it could be something more organic than "you level up, so you get a skill point".

You could level up skills, and learn new skills by using related skills. Like, I'll use the necromancer from diablo 2. To learn bone spear, I would have to use teeth, not just put a point in it. But the more you use it, the more damage it does.

I doubt that would happen though. Blizzard doesn't seem like the bunch to try something that ambitious.

ambitious is definitely NOT the word i would use to describe that style of play. it is way to easily abused, and i would hate to use some shitty skill, just so i could use a good one later. u would see a lot of botting and afk skill spamming, and people who dont have the time/patience/dignity to do this will be at a disadvantage. THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE in a few games, so its not ambitious by any means.... if anything its rather stupid.

its the gameplay too. in WoW, items were soulbound. The person with three druids have probably felt this, when he's healing his poor little ass of and a DPS druid item gets disenchanted. If D3 keeps with d2's item style of keeping items rare by having variable stats and resetting the ladder once in a while, then i can see them also sticking to the no respec idea. If they go with the wow-like idea of the best items not having ariable stats, but you can only equip that item on one charecter, then i think they wuld have to implement some kind of respec, though i am usre it woul cost an arm and a leg.
