I'm glad they decided to buff acts 3+4 instead of nerfing act 1+2, the first post about this was a bit confusing and let most of us to believe they made act 1 and 2 easier.
What's the point in doing hard content otherwise? Sure the rates may be slightly better, but you aren't rewarded with better gear for being able to kill the hardest parts of the game.
Because harder = more fun. Also you aren't gonna be able to do those hardest parts of the game until you farm the end of Hell for gear, most likely. Maybe once you're actually able to get through Act IV of Inferno you won't want to go back to Act I or II, or Act IV of Hell.
Even if the drop rate of X item is 0.00001% in Act IV of Hell and 0.001% in Act IV of Inferno (like overneathe said), that's still a 100 times better drop chance in Inferno. So unless you can run Act IV of Hell 100 times before I do Act IV of Inferno once, you get better odds doing Inferno.

Well I think they should make the drop rates based on difficulty. Shouldn't be to huge difference. Obviously when you have ubber items you may stop feeling the difference between act 1 and 4 on inferno but at that point you won't feel to much need for grinding anyway.
you can break an urn and get the best item in the game
nice! lol
That happened to me in Diablo 1 back in the day (i think i was 13 at the time?)
I'd just gotten into hell, on nightmare difficulty, and there was one chest that i moved a screen or two away from I remembered the chest and decided to go back to it. I made my way back, popped open the chest after almost missing it, and inside was a King's Sword of Haste, which as any longtime Diablo players know, is one of, if not the best weapon a person could have found in Diablo 1.

They did. The same item will be much harder to come by in Act IV of Hell than even Act I of Inferno, and much MUUUUCH harder to get than in Act IV of Inferno.
Or do you mean the drops based on difficulty? In that case I mostly agree. I don't think that things dropping in Act IV Inferno should drop in Act IV Hell. I do think it's OK for things that drop in Act I Inferno to drop in Act IV Hell though. That's not that big of a deal.
haha whoever was arguing with me in some other thread about how i was being stupid and saying that inferno was nerfed...TOLD YA SO! that is all.... =) yay new inferno!! cant wait to wtfpwnstamp that place!

I mean here that if Act2 is twice as difficult as Act 1 for then Act 2 mob should have twice as high chance to drop as mob from act 1 and so on. Not more or less than that. If they make act 4 which lets say is 4 times more difficult than act 1 drop 10 times more items then I will feel bad grinding in act 1.Ofc it will all be dependent on your gear but I assume here that when we grind we still have quite normal gear and not wearing epic, legendaries and ubber sets.
65 is the max cap level for act 4 Inferno? Ill def have it done in 2 weeks then.
Dude stop trolling.
Not trolling, if you think I can't hit 60 in 2 weeks and clear inferno with 2-3 other Diablo vets you are clearly trolling. 60 in this game is like 80 in Diablo 2, and add the fact with a little bit of grinding you can be 60 at end of Hell so...pretty much guaranteed to be 60 by inferno within a week and give me a week to work out the kinks there and finish it.
on day 14 i require a screenshot of your progress. put up or shut up.

^This. I just hope the drop rates improve in the later acts of inferno or else I see no reason in putting yourself through that.

They will if D2 is any indication, the harder the act and difficulty the higher the drop rate...

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
This is very good news. Felt rather bummed when word started going around that it was actually made easier. This makes a whole lot more sense now. Thank you Blizzard!

So you're talking about drops within a single difficulty. I can definitely guarantee that an item will be easier to obtain in Act IV of any difficulty than in Act I of the same difficulty. Though you have to consider if the same items will even span that far. I'd find it hard to believe that items that drop in Act I still drop in Act IV, except for Inferno, since that difficulty is made exclusively for level 60 players.
Item pools are not limited by Act, or Boss, or anything like that. While you'll have a better chance to get better items in Act IV Inferno, you could get those same items in Act I, or even Hell.
So yes, you'd have better chances of getting an item in Act IV Inferno than Act I Inferno.
It could be just a way to fix what he shoud have not told us - that they've nerfed Acts I and II. We'll never know.

I feel bad for you guys who have been waiting for this game since it was announced. Don't get me wrong, I was excited when it was announced, but it kinda slipped from my thoughts until recently. I just kinda forgot about it, what with other things going on, so I haven't been waiting eagerly for every little piece of news with bated breath.
But I gotta say, once I got back into the loop and got into the beta, the excitement has returned on painful levels. So I know how you feel.
I actually prefer it this way. Waiting eagerly for 6 months beats waiting eagerly for 4 years.

If you have the same killing speed in A1 and A4 sure A4 is better. If you kill things a lot faster in A1 (or say A2) compared to A4 it may be more efficient to farm A1 (or A2). (The exact break point is unknown until someone can come up with drop chances).

Yup. Drop chances and clear speeds. Until you know how fast you can do it, all this is just conjecture. I just used those numbers up there as an example. What works for one person may not work for another, even as the same class with the same abilities chosen.
As much as a handful of people want to say "lol, can't wait till the haters choke on this!" You have to remind yourself that people that complained helped make Blizzard go back and fix things about their game.
When people whined about the game being too bright and not dark enough, these same devs said "Lol, don't be silly. you need CONTRAST by making very bright areas to make the other dark places look darker! You guys are just being goofy!" while they went back and made the game darker over the next two years.
When people whined about the game being seemingly easy, these same devs said "Don't worry about it." They did completely revamped entire systems in their game WHILE HEAVILY nerfing the damage of spells scaled at lv 60 over the past 9 months. They then said "Lol, you WILL die in inferno!" Then a few months later, right before release, they just informed you that they changed some major things about difficulty progression and how Inferno will flow.
If nobody disagreed with their opinions or complained about anything, you would have a half-ass Gothic version of WoW leveling, simply because they would love to have a heavy casual-friendly game to sell more copies.
If you think Blizzard has genius PR, I'd simply have to refer to the gigantic fanbase fueling hype to point out to you that they don't need to have good PR. Their more recent games are riding on the coattails of their legacy games and WoW's success. WoW was their magnum opus, no doubt about it. Imo, it might even be the last truly amazing Blizzard title now and forever.
If you think Blizzard is genius that they were designing Inferno perfectly, then why didn't they have this all worked out 2 years ago in development? Being a genius isn't saying one thing, while doing another. That's just called being a politician. Geniuses hit the chalkboards hard and produce excellence the first time around.
This game could have been released in its entirety 6-9 months earlier if it wasn't for pointless experimentation and lack of direction. Think I'm full of crap? Well then ask yourself this: Why work on PvP and then cut it out a few months before release? Trying to build hype? Or just them being indecisive? Or lack of confidence in their own game design? You can decide that for yourself.
