As much as a handful of people want to say "lol, can't wait till the haters choke on this!" You have to remind yourself that people that complained helped make Blizzard go back and fix things about their game.
When people whined about the game being too bright and not dark enough, these same devs said "Lol, don't be silly. you need CONTRAST by making very bright areas to make the other dark places look darker! You guys are just being goofy!" while they went back and made the game darker over the next two years.
When people whined about the game being seemingly easy, these same devs said "Don't worry about it." They did completely revamped entire systems in their game WHILE HEAVILY nerfing the damage of spells scaled at lv 60 over the past 9 months. They then said "Lol, you WILL die in inferno!" Then a few months later, right before release, they just informed you that they changed some major things about difficulty progression and how Inferno will flow.
If nobody disagreed with their opinions or complained about anything, you would have a half-ass Gothic version of WoW leveling, simply because they would love to have a heavy casual-friendly game to sell more copies.
If you think Blizzard has genius PR, I'd simply have to refer to the gigantic fanbase fueling hype to point out to you that they don't need to have good PR. Their more recent games are riding on the coattails of their legacy games and WoW's success. WoW was their magnum opus, no doubt about it. Imo, it might even be the last truly amazing Blizzard title now and forever.
If you think Blizzard is genius that they were designing Inferno perfectly, then why didn't they have this all worked out 2 years ago in development? Being a genius isn't saying one thing, while doing another. That's just called being a politician. Geniuses hit the chalkboards hard and produce excellence the first time around.
This game could have been released in its entirety 6-9 months earlier if it wasn't for pointless experimentation and lack of direction. Think I'm full of crap? Well then ask yourself this: Why work on PvP and then cut it out a few months before release? Trying to build hype? Or just them being indecisive? Or lack of confidence in their own game design? You can decide that for yourself.
I agreed with you until the sentence I bolded. It's very true that the game was fueled by our feedback, and that's what's gonna make this a great game, but I would hardly call experimentation and "lack of direction" pointless. If people didn't experiment, they'd never realize that what they did wasn't working and try something new until they got the results they were looking for. Experimentation is good. It leads to new, exciting discoveries.
It was nerfed to allow access and progression to more players.
That wording is crystal clear, and there is ZERO room for interpretation.
You're right. There really is ZERO room for interpretation from this:
"Sorry, to clarify, the beginning of Inferno is not any easier than it was before. We've only made Inferno harder."
The only thing is - that is completely destroying your point, eh?
Npt really. Its just proof that hey made a mistake. The two statements are completely contradictory.
So, we misread it correctly? Interesting...
No you failed to read all together and just ASSUMED!
A 5 year old would understand those two states are diametrically opposed to one another.

For some reason you remind me of:
Big difference between a lie and a mistake.
He is right too, those statements were completely contradictory.
Sure - but it was in reference to every other post he's made in topics like this. It's always negativity filled with what-ifs and conspiracy worries.
Yes - he is correct that those statements are contradictory - but you have to also remember Bashiok is the messenger. He didn't implement said system. He is only a community manager - therefore - and thankfully - when he makes a mistake he corrects himself (why the hell did I type you here? lol). They're contradictory because he doesn't necessarily have intricate knowledge as to how systems work.
He has made HUNDREDS of contradictory mistakes. He always corrects it after he gets the facts from the Dev team.
It's really nothing new. Unless you're new to the scene? Which I know you aren't.
Edit: And read some of his posts - you'll see why I linked the pic :P.
hes right people need to stop turning words and read the facts
Which is what I've been trying to say! I hope you guys weren't saying I suggested they were lying - because I wasn't. I was suggesting that others were believing they were
Bah. You probably also believe that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK and that terrorists brought down the WTC.
That's not even remotely the same. If somebody who had some knowledge and/or personal affiliation with Lee Harvey - I'd agree. Neither of those are even remotely similar.
Bashiok makes a statement he believed was correct.
He asks the team.
He comes back the next day, apologizes, and gives us the correct run-down.
Lee Harvey shoots the president (Not my opinion - your analogy)
There is no Bashiok in this case - so it isn't even a similar situation.
Really...I think if the man can ASK the PEOPLE who CREATED the SYSTEM - then, well, don't you think his answers hold more merit than any theory and/or belief around JFK/WTC?
who gives a shit about jfk lol but seriously guys why is it every time a topic pops up about anything people are always at each others throats i mean i don't get it just know the facts before you open your suck-hole
For the crazy people they need a HUGE ramp in difficulty, for a more “casual but still hardcore” audience you want an obvious but milder increase in difficulty. So for the crazy people who play non-stop they’ll hit Act I and get a challenge, but 1 month later they’ll still have something to work on (Acts II, III and IV). For the “hardcore-casual” they will reach level 60 later and not get brick walled when they reach Inferno. They can experience some “small victories” working on Act I with the dream of maybe someday reaching the later acts.
What Bashiok was referring to there is that insane players want the difficulty to be incredibly high, but that way the casual-hardcore audience would hit a "brick wall". Having equal difficulty in the entirety of Inferno didn't do much for the insane players, but increasing the difficulty even more would make the casual-hardcore really hit that wall. And so the gradual increase in difficulty was introduced "for the casual-hardcore to not get brick walled" and the insane people out there still getting a challenge later on, as they progress in Inferno.
Of course, you could say that's interpretation. But I'm starting to think everyone is just making too much fuss out of all of this.

The whole thing is interpretation. A few people interpreted it correctly, a few others interpreted incorrectly and a few others interpreted possibilities. Right now, some of the ones that interpreted incorrectly are maintaining it was a mistake on Bashiok's part and not theirs.
This whole thread just got bombed =D Straight from bashiok 'We only made it HARDER'. Instead of every mlvl being 61 in inferno, it's now monsters in act 1 are mlvl 61, and it only goes up to he says he thinks about mlvl 65.
so bam. It did not get nerfed at ALL, and the proof was just posted.

i'm still having trouble understanding that post; so me only being able to play a few hours a day a few times a week and on weekends if i'm lucky once i hit inferno i'm going to hit a wall unless I throw everything i have into playing this game... so i hit inferno can barly do it get frustrated and move on to something else. Do that with all 5 classes and just wait for expansion? because i hit that "brick wall" but still want to get as best of gear as possible to satisfy my e-penis?
Seriously those of you crying about changes always assume the worst. So glad I was able to interpret his original post about the difficulty change correctly.

I'm glad you're powers of perception were correct. I was a little bummed at what we originally thought the meaning of Bashiok's first post was.

No, the thing was that insane players wanted an awesome increase in difficulty for Inferno, which would've made you hit said brick wall. But now the difficulty will increase gradually. From what I gather.
"Just google "diablo 3 gold guide" and magical rainbow covered demons will assault your eyes."
