It's not as though I know what I'm talking about but I don't want to ruin anything. I dont know how to hide my text so allow me to open by saying SPOILER ALERT maybe...
So I've been reading a couple of theories here and I can't seem to shake something regarding the end times prophecy.
". . . And, at the End of Days, Wisdom shall be lost
as Justice falls upon the world of men.
Valor shall turn to Wrath -
and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all -
as fate lies shattered forever."
Wisdom shall be lost. Malthaels missing. Easy
Justice falls to earth. Most everyone agrees that Tyrael is the fallen star.
Beyond this nothing is really definitive.
My question is regarding the line that states "Valor shall turn to Wrath." Now, this has been bothering me for a while because it seems obvious to me but I haven't seen anyone else mention this. I just want to know if anyone shares my idea that Imperius may be one of Azmodan's lieutenants seeing how wrath is one of the seven deadly sins. Obvious right?
It has already been revealed by Metzen and his crew at a Blizzcon lore panel that Azmodan has seven lieutenants and two of them will be in D3. One of which is the Maiden of Lust. The second one they would not reveal which implies that it's a major spoiler.
Does anyone agree or have anything that would completely disprove this that I'm not aware of?
Well that prophecy has been mentioned a lot, but your theory does seem pretty reasonable. I don't think he's be working with Azmodan though. Also Imperius is also mentioned in the Book of Cain as showing great signs of pride which is also a deadly sin.
I'd say they're just slightly changed up. Diablo's Heavenly Virtues are obviously the Augris Council. Justice, Valor, Hope, Wisdom, Faith.
Also a quote from the Book of Cain regarding Imperius
"However his legendary Valor appears to come with the fatal flaw of pride. It is this pride and arrogance which have reportedly brought him into conflict with Tyrael..."
Something is obviously up, Angel's have their flaws which kind of goes against what we think of as Angels.
Belial isnt the second lieutenant. He's another lesser evil. I think there are some pictures floating around of the other lieutenant though. He has some weird name I forget but looks like Pyramid head from silent hill, or a demon shark with sword arms or something.
I just want to know if anyone shares my idea that Imperius may be one of Azmodan's lieutenants seeing how wrath is one of the seven deadly sins. Obvious right?
Well, not really. I think that most people are just making misconceptions about it. It might sound logical, but it's actually not. Imperius hates demons, like Hitler and Mel Gibson, he wants to impale every single on of them on his spear. Joining them, much less having a superior in the face of Azmodan, sounds wrong.
Well what if he believes he is doing good. He isn't going to join the demons, but he wants to destroy sanctuary
Imperius may want to destroy Sanctuary but he would never side with demons. If you're interested in the possibility of Imperius being a threat to sanctuary well you should check here.

When it says Valor will turn to Wrath..that does not mean he turns into Wrath, but will more or less blame Wrath for the disapperance of Wisdom and turn his head towards Wrath for answers, but we won't see them till an expansion or 2.
Since Lust and Greed are the two Sins in this first game.
Also to hide somthing just type [.Spoiler] [./spoiler] with out the periods.
I don't think it literally means he will become wrath, just that he will be wrathful, also we don't even know that wrath is a sin in Sanctuary.
Wrath has a Capital W, it's a person/demon/angel.
I didn't know the Lord of Despair had concept art or ana ctual model at that, so maybe will not face Greed yet and he is just mentioned, unless he is the secret "cow level" with all the treasure hunting goblins.
Which means we will fight Lust and Despair.
Izual is probably Wrath now. (I have nothing to base that off of, he just seems to fit the role)
Which just leads to Gluttony, Envy, Pride and Greed.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
So I just read a couple of pages into the Book of Cain. Something interesting caught my eye, it was the Prophecy of the End Times. A line in the prophecy, I think, really ties into the art of Imperius and what it means.
"Valor shall turn to Wrath"
I think it indicates that Imperius will either:
a) turn his back against his virtues of Valor and go bad / crazy(because Valor can easily turn to Pride which gives birth to Wrath) meaning he could become 1 of the possible Seven Lords of Sin for Azmodan or something else entirely(expansion :D) or....
b)he gets corrupted / manipulated by the demons(possibly by Mephisto or Azmodan[see above]? Wrath relates to Hatred in a way and Wrath as well as Pride is one of the Seven Deadly Sins) kinda like the art shows, into hating humans and be becoming an enemy of mortals or the High Heavens similar to how Izual was corrupted by Diablo
edit: Also, maybe I'm just blind but the right side could possibly be angels and the left side demons, center may be humans. That may imply something else as well if I'm seeing that right.

"The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and all of Creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell."
It seems strange that Angels can become corrupt and fall prey to evil influence; but so far we haven't seen any Demons take on a streak of righteousness, or even fall into a "Grey" area. I hope Lilith falls into this role.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
All in the Forger's wake is left bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the dark Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

in the lore of the treasure goblins they say they serve a great demon lord known as Greed! this could be fun in further acts!
Do any of you really realize how pointless and idiotic it would be for Imperius if he tries to destroy humanity now? Mankind has done a pretty decent job of cleaning things up for the High Heavens, destroying five of the seven Evils for them. I mean, come on, at least patiently wait until the last two are dead before doing what you have to do...
Then again, without mankind, Diablo might not be able to use Leah or Cain or another mortal host to return from the Abyss, so there is that. If Imperius tries to destroy mankind, won't it just be three against one again? Won't the Auriel-Itherael-Tyrael opposition just negate anything he tries to do?

Envy had the head in a box, wrath had a custom Springfield handgun. Or Wrath could have two sabres.
