I realize that no one actualy knows the answer but I'm looking for yes or know answer based tottally of what you feel. I've told myself that this will be the last video I ever buy and play seriously. I've pretty much let video games go from my life for about two years know but diablo was something I played when I was 7 or 8 years old and ever since I got bored with diablo 2 I had told myself I would play diablo 3. So I know if I'm still playing games a year from now it will be diablo 3, it will be THE video game I go to when I need a video game fix.
I pretty much just want to get a feel for how many of you strongly believe you will be playing diablo 3 for a long time.
EDIT: I also realize the misstyping of 'our' in the title has doomed this thread into the deep silent abyss.
I have little doubt that DIII is going to be an awesome game while I am playing it. However I feel that there have been some changes from DII (for better or worse) that will limit the time I spend with the game compared to the years I played DII. Things like RMAH and easy respecialization, which I really have no problem with, may affect the long term playability. I imagine I won't be playing a year from now unless an expansion happens to be released at the time.
Considering I played WoW off and on for 6 years and I've been playing SC2 custom maps since it was released and I'm STILL playing D2, yeah, good chance I'll be playing D3 for a while.
Hard to say. My track record with games is too jumpy to make any predictions. It's quite possible I randomly quit in the middle, not because the game is bad, but that's just what I do, lol.
I'd say yes. Given all my excitement for the game, and how it's more exciting than any other game I've ever been anticipating, I'd hope it lasts more than a year.
Bump this topic in a year and see if we were right.
The best part about Diablo is that you never really have to quit. You can just take breaks. The characters won't be deleted like in D2 and I feel like there's a lot more to bring a player back in D3 than there was in D2.
More builds to try out, more ways to farm, hopefully more challenging farming (if it turns out the way they want it to), RMAH action, and eventually some sweet PVP.
I'd say I'll be playing until Diablo 4 comes out, even if I stop playing for a few months here and there.
If you posted the same poll regarding SC2 on most SC2 forum before it's release, you would have gotten the same results. Season 1's ladder became bloated with inactive players not too long after release.
Many players can't put themselves in a state of mind were they can accept that the game might not last more than a year, let alone accept that any Blizzard game expansions will take AT LEAST 16 months to be released. WoW expansions take 2 years each like clockwork and Heart of the Swarm looks like it will be the same deal.

Some people tell me I'm going to hell. I just let them know that I've already packed my bags!
if D3 is anything like D2 then i expect myself to be playing this game until D4 or its equivlant comes, not continuously but i will keep coming back to it every year. i mean i still play D2 now even after 10+ years.
I will definitely still be playing it, just not in the same capacity. Probably at the very least once a week, or mostly depending on how often my friends are still playing.
This is also very dependent on the frequency of content updates, and when the expansion will be out. If SC2 serves as a comparison in that department, then each D3 expansion will take at least 2 years of development time. A very sad thought indeed.
Well, I'm still playing SC2, and I consider it disgustingly boring, so I doubt D3 could be any worse.
Well said. And about those bloated Season 1 ladders? Season 1 I got platinum 1v1 and diamond league in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 as Zerg in all of about 3 hours of ladder games. Got bored very quickly and just played customs after that... and the custom map system is garbage. I *really* hope they make D3's start menu/login/welcome screen more social than SC2. Even if the first chat room you're thrown in is full of trolling, it's still better to see that social atmosphere than to join a massive online community and not see a soul.
i played d2 for years. my first born will be arriving around may 1st, i doubt i'll be be burnt out on a game i can't play quite as much as i want. so the fun will be stretched out for at least a year, thats my reasoning... voted yes

Also, what Gerahben said.

I will probably be playing the game a year from now, there is enough to do in hardcore mode
