I think this could be a maybe if a GOOD modding community got to together, similar to those seen for Baldurs Gate and definitely for Neverwinter Nights. Remember, NWN had a whole expansion pack made of user mods.
If Blizzard Were to add a Dungeon Editor (an incredibly small chance), they would most likely have it so that you could not use Battle.net or Single Player/ Multi Player Characters on it. You would probably have separate characters for a Dungeon Editor.
Modability is an indicator of how much control the developer is willing to relinquish to the end-user. A solid modding community is an invaluble resource that is intrinsically good for any game's longevity. Talented modders interested in enhancing their game and creating new content can only be a good thing.
Diablo II was not mod-friendly and look what it degenerated to. Mephisto and Pindle runs? SoJ hoarding and Ladder resets?
It just doesn't fit into the Diablo universe and its exploitable, I don't see how it's usage is practical online and it would only serve to push back the release date in the long run. So no, they shouldn't add it.

Don't try to be a great man, just be a man... and let history make its own judgment. -Zefram Cochrane, Star Trek
this isnt an RTS. are you kidding me? how the fuck woudl this go into the game at ALL?
im wondering if all these 20< post count people that joined in the last week have even PLAYED diablo before. seriously.
Actually Titan Quest had something like this, though complicated and sometimes hard to use, it nevertheless added what little there was to the game. In Diablo's sense though, considering how big Bnet is (TQ had nothing like that) I don't see it being used much. I personally wouldn't mind seeing something like that. Knowing Blizzard could create and play some crazy LAN games or even only MP (though you know Open Bnet players would just cheat.)
But as my final oppinion, if it were to delay the game then NO. If anything I wouldn't mind seeing it as a release AFTER the game has been released, that's if they got nothing else to work on.
I think the idea of an editor for people to have fanfiction acted out would be very cool, and support community mods. I don't think it should be used in conjunction with the original story line though, but independent concepts.
it will be bad... well if you can edit like loot settings, for exp 300 items for each level 1 monster... now that will be quite problematic, besides i dont see the point theyre probably making PVP arenas and multiplayer maps since this is not an MMO

Mods are separate from battle.net. You would only be able to play on a private server.
if u wanna mod and stuff why not just make ur own game and u can do what ever you like (just my idea)
What kind of stupid argument is that? Can anyone go and make their own game? Hell no. Can anyone go and mod Oblivion? Yes. So why can't a huge company like Blizzard make a side-team that would make an editor for their huge game? It could prolong the life of the game like crazy. Where do you think stuff like DotA comes from? Or even for DII we have Eastern Sun mod - that's even without a normal editor...
Editors prove that the game is more than just to sell.
Highly doubt this will happen as the dev's have already said that moddability is not going to be a priority in game design. Besides i was part of the D2 mod community for a while and those guys always find a way to do the things they want to do with their mods anyway. I just hope the game still uses text files to generate most of the game mechanics so it will be easy to modify if need be.

Talk about weak sauce.

Look at SC maps and you'll know how it's "practical online".
I thought we had a lot of patient fans here who would wait for Diablo...
You are so limited in what you can do, but if it is an easy addition than sure why not
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
My vote is yes for inclusion of an optional Single Player- or TCP/IP-only world builder tool. But only if it does not slow down production.
