I just wanted to see what everyones' thoughts are on which class will be the best class at release. A short reason explaining why you think so should suffice.
I believe the sorceress will be the best class overall. Just as in Diablo 2, the sorceress teleported everywhere and shot out frost balls of death. Looking at the talent builder i'm sure that this will be the case in Diablo 3. This sucks for me as I dislike playing caster classes in Diablo games.
I've always been a ranged player myself, in WoW, D2, even SC and SC2 (going dragoon/stalkers instead of zealots). I was all about the Wizard but I feel like the class will be over played at launch. I don't really like the feel of the Witch Doctor, so for me I'm going Demon Hunter. Will DH be the best class? No way to know until launch!
I feel like Monk or Demon Hunter will be the best classes. The demon hunter is the consensus weak class right now so its in for a big upgrade which i think will put it ahead of the rest. The monk just seems too wild not to be OP hes flying around punching things at some insane speed, and has some sweet shielding and healing skills. 7 sided strike to me looks the strongest of all skill its absolutely bonkers.
Best classes are going to be wiz cuse of their versility being a caster and being able to switch to melee. The monk is going to be killer with combo attacks and self heals. Demon hunter looks cool but I don't know of the character as a whole will exceed my expectations. Barb is the same as always tank. Witch doctor I'm sorry but all I can say is fail the skills just don't do it for me
I doubt there's any "best" class, not for long anyways, with balance changes considered. Even if there is, I still think a mixed team will be better than four of the "best class", due to abilities that boost the whole team.
Im totally agree with this, i think there is no Best class, every character has cons and pros with any other character.
I don't think there's going to be a "best" class. I believe there will be a best class for each individual but not a best class as a whole. Each class will bring something different to the table making them strong in some points and weak in others.
There will not be any "best" class. The reason is that every class will excel in different situations. For example the wizard will excel in mass aoe type fights with weak monsters. Whereas the witch doctor will excel in fights with multiple elite mobs because of high damage dots and pets to distract. If they do have one class that is better than all others in every situation then they would have truly failed.
The WD actually looks very strong, but the problem is that I'm not a fan of pets of any sort, so I only intend to play the WD as a petless class. I'm not sure how strong he'd be in such a case, even though Blizzard CLAIMED it's viable even in Inferno.
The Barbarian actually sounds extremely powerful - I'm surprised that Blizzard last said that he doesn't do as well in the lategame because the %weapon damage that his skills have look really, really good!
This all depends on what you consider best, best damage dealer? best survival class? best MF? best single target damage? best AOE damage? list goes on, there wont be 1 best class to fill all the roles that the different situations call for (which is a good thing).
You shouldn't pick your character based on who you think will be the most overpowered. Yes, the wizard will probably be the strongest in my opinion. But, I will be playing the class I find most interesting and which class fits my playstyle the most. I am still debating which class that is but you get my point
as ive said on like 5 other threads the Witch Doctor will easily be the best class overall. he has insane PVE and PVP capabilities. he has THE most CC / defensive spells in the game out of all 5 classes and still has awesome damage capabilites. lower damage than the wizard but WAYYYY higher defensive capabilities which will be key in surviving in inferno.

Best class... for what?
Soloing Inferno?
Co-op?
PvP?
Making Gold?
Farming items?
Too simplistic a question in my mind... Which character do I like the best? I love the look and feel of the wizard... Is it going to be the best at everything... very unlikely... blizzard are better at balancing games than that.
I think the monk is being overhyped, but we'll see. Personally I've basically already played every class in the game by having played other games (and previous diablo titles), so I know they will all feel great and work in a unique way, though I expect there to be more barbs and wizards than anything.

I'm completely not being a dick, but I can tell you right meow that the classes in D3 do NOT feel like any other classes I've played before. MAYBE the barb + wiz, but even then it's different than you'd think =D

same. the WD feels so different then anything. its a combination of a summoning druid fire druid and poison necro all in one at the same time.and the demon hunter is like the assassin and amazon mixed as well. they may feel SIMILAR to other classes but they are definitely unique

There probably won't be a 'best' class overall. Some classes will be better at doing certain things while others are better at doing other things. If a class seems OP Blizzard will probably nerf it to the ground. In the end the best class will probably be the one you enjoy playing the most.

These two classes are like mage and rogue, blizzard will always keep them as elite PvP classes.
