Oh how amusing. The retailer I typically visit here in NL has changed to May. Cute. I know, I know....
Strange though. The moment I woke up today, I lost faith in an april release, and I've even lost faith in getting the announcement this week. Guess it was a 2 day high or something.
after jays last response im certain it wont be announced this week. skeptical of even a next week announcement. they said in the coming weeks not months so it will definitely be announced this month, just not at the beginning

As well you should, Blizzard seems to only announce its release dates on Monday's (go to the press release section on their website). SC2, Cata, WOTLK, all had their press release announcements posted on Monday's.
So, next time to get all f5ish is next monday and 9am PST.
I still have a feeling that on Patch 15, Blizzard announces the release date. Why Patch 15, well 15 years they've celebrated diablo (towards the end of this year will be Blizzard's 16th year of the making). Patch 14 has been mentioned but no news at the moment.

They also said in the coming weeks at the conference call, which was almost a month ago today.

Seriously? This isn't the return of Christ! This game isn't going to be released based on some numerical coincidence, or a secret code or Jay's cat's birthday. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more important factors in deciding when to announce a release date then half-baked number games.

I can be wrong, hell people that are doing their calculations can be wrong about the release date, so I don't see why others dog on others for guessing. When D3 was pushed back to Q1, I can't tell you how many forums I've read that D3 will be release in January, Feb, or March. Now that it might be release in Q2, I'm reading that it'll be release in April, May, or June. The reason why I said that Jay might announce it on Patch 15 because Diablo has been in the making for 15 years. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No harsh feelings.

Ok Nostradamus, let's see your theory :).
I don't have a theory, because unless I possess some additional information about the situation, than I have nothing relevant to contribute. I don't mean to offend I just can't believe you really think your idea sounds plausible. This would have to be the conversation at Blizzard HQ - Jay "Hey uh guys wer'e going to announce the release date tomorrow"
Dev guy- "What is there a big gaming convention tomorrow?"
Jay-"No"
Dev guy- "Ok did you just get the go ahead from all the teams that everything ready to go?"
Jay-"No no much more relevant and brilliant, Diablo is roughly fifteen years old so rather than thinking about any business or marketing logic we'll just announce the release when we release PATCH 15! I'm sure at least one random ass clown out there will understand the connection"
