posted a message on Theory on Monster power and item scale with monster level
Patch 1.0.5 notes revealed many interesting things, but especially 2 things I noticed.

    1) Monster power
    2) Affixes on items will now roll their level based on the level of the monster killed (rather than the item’s level)

Now, Monster Power by itself is quite interesting, but not the "Affixes blablabla". That is because it seems like "What, even with monster power I can't go back to Act I?"

But, what if the system works like this.

    Base level: 60
    Each act adds 1 level
Each monster power adds 1 level, starting at monster power 2.
This would mean monster power 3 in act I = monster power 1 in act III = Monster level 63.
There would be no actual level increase (or maybe there would?) so armor etc wouldn't be needed in much higher lvls to survive, but a theoretical lvl (which would cause monsters to drop improved loot at higher lvls). Or even better: There would be a lvl increase with a cap of 63, so act I wouldn't always be preferred with 2 higher monster powers than act III.

I don't really have the math clear, but the concept is how I imagine blizzard putting it.
What are your thoughts on this?
Personally, this is what I hope for because people could now farm other acts again (as long as monster power 10 would be an insane difficult even in act I) so we can have a bit different scenery ;)

Is there anything with this idea you like / don't like? Anything you would like to see different?

posted a message on Identify item concept is wasting time and needs to be fixed!!
Like already mentioned there will be 1/3rd of the current cast time on ID, so 5m will fall down to 1m 40 sec approximately. In addition to that, there now seems to be added a "progression of gear" so it will actually be more interesting with ID since you will get better loots (based on my theory) ;)

posted a message on 10 posts for URL an obsolete system?
Is it any real advantage to it?
I've seen quite the few spam attacks now, and all they really do is spam the forums placing dots at a lot of places and then spamming us even more with their gold selling.

I think, what if there would be 5 posts, but a 1 day delay from the 5th post til URLs are activated?I
It's not that often that new members go over 5 posts a day on the first or second day of their stay, in fact, I think most new members will benefit from this due to getting earlier access to URLs while already having proved they aren't bots. Today we have 15 accounts that have made more than 5 posts, this includes 2 bots so 13 people.

If some1 is detected with going on random forums placing a dot or other messages that makes no sense at all, hopefully they will be flagged with spam and won't ever get access to post URLs.

They will find a work around for this, but hopefully it will at least stop them for now, because its really annoying with these bots posting in the style they do now.

posted a message on The +1 Function
Hello, we do have a +1 function or a "like" function (I don't know what to call it, the reputation system?) for posts where you can up vote other people's posts. The main problem I see with it is "Visibility" and "Clarity of Function". I know that if I find a good post (but mainly only on posts) id press +1. I didn't do that to begin with, because I didn't really notice it or know what it was.

Do any1 have any great ideas for what we can do in order to improve this function? How can we make it more visible and more obvious what it is, and make people press it more often.
Also, as I have understood it is directly connected to the thing on your profile which from 0 to 10 is neutral, from 11 to somewhere else is good etc, maybe mousing over that should explain the system?
Maybe make a sticky in this forum section about what it is? (Though this isn't the most visited forum section...)

(only on these problems, thanks, if you want a down-vote function, this threads intention is not to discuss that).

posted a message on Introduction forum
Hey, like many of you maybe don't know, there is an "Introduction Forum" where people can introduce themselves etc.
Now, this doesn't fall naturally to everyone, so making a system where you "force" people to introduce themselves (by rewarding it) wouldn't really work, but how about mentioning something like

"Welcome to Diablofans! We would love to know more about you, so if you want to introduce yourself to our other members, please go here and say hello! :)"

Hopefully that can help to the activity of that forum ^^

posted a message on is the best way to MF/paragon lvl by playing all of act 3?
    Nailed it.
Its completely useless, only there for the story. In addition, the monsters are far more spread out, so it isn't even more efficient to farm there in godly gear =/

...Who the hell dies on Azmodan ever? Easiest attacks to avoid, and if you're playing HC you should have way more than enough health to take a hit

Lost my 60(17) Demon Hunter one-shot to Azmodan fireball. I had 800 fire res and 65k HP. I also thought i could take 1 hit so i didn't really bother to avoid it :) Guess what... Fatal mistake!

That kinda sucks. I guess this explains azmodan too, he is being underestimated just like carrion bats and shiz, and therefore people die on him.

Good luck on future hc chars! ;)

    amazing patch to be honest,
they really touched everything that I found annoying/broken.

only thing I dislike is :
"..in return they’ll receive scaling bonuses to experience (for heroes levels 1-59)".

    but cannot complain really.

It does say "as well as" after that so it's a bit ambiguous. Not providing any exp incentive for Monster Power after having just added the Paragon incentive would be extremely short sighted.

Not really. Better loot is more than enough incentive (especially since loot is quickly irrelevant as you level in this game but means everything at 60). With the XP shrines, possible gear bonuses to XP, and the NV buff, I think Blizzard wants to cap how fast people can make it to 100. They really want it to take a while. Besides, better loot = improved combat efficiency which means killing faster thus faster XP anyway. Just not as dramatic as the sub-60 improvements.

Higher monster power presumably means dramatically more HP which would mean slower exp. It would be silly not to at least increase the exp rate enough to compensate for that.

    Not really.
Many of the best geared people isn't limited at all by how fast they kill enemies, but by how fast they move.
They wont be slowed down in the slightest, and will simply get more loot. If we give them more XP too, paragon lvls could have been awarded as your character hit lvl 60 (maybe not that dramatic, but still).

I think this is the best route to take, and also, it gives you MF above the cap so its even more valuable than paragon lvls ;)

Also, "Square-quality gems no longer drop in Inferno difficulty" does this mean only flawless square will drop, or only radiant+ will drop?
I kinda want neither, because if no more square, the tome of jc lose all worth, and if radiant is going to be top gem it's gonna be a pain =/

The one (1, uno, ein) item they have said they will do this with is an item that will need a LOT of work to get. It's supposed to be more of a feat from completing the "event" than it is going to be a fight against the AH.

Please, I understand that you want to complain, but when you start complaining before there is any real explanation on it is just stupid. For all we know it may be a ring that is purely cosmetic. Or opens a story line arc.

I feel that you have missed the concept of my post. The quantity is not coming into question, its the principle. The whole basis of this post is to express my opinion that blizzard should have more of an emphases on its predecessor than adding traits of a game created for T rather then M as the box indicates.

You don't complain about Staff of Herding being BoA, right?
It simply opens a secret pony lvl, and gives no actual advantage in combat. Before we know the ring is viable while used for combat, I think we can simply wait and see what will happend. No point to start complaining about it yet.

The only celebrity I even know is Angelina Jolie because she played as Lara Croft and that's the only movie I watched (about every day) as a kid. o.O

Its more of a "I'd feel more of a conservationist " if I was talking to another gay person because I've never had a straight guy friend in my life.

Well, sometime you should make the step trough the wall of haters and try to find whats behind it, because many people are totally ready to accept you as a human being no matter religion and sexual orientation.

Also, if you are willing to play hardcore I can definitely make you feel comfortable having a conversation with a straight person after a week or two :P (not sure if with any straight person, but at least with me :P)

posted a message on How much monster power are you ready to handle?
    Quote from fer

My guess ist that it will be around 10%/40% dmg/hp increase per monster lvl, so that if lvl 2 is as inferno is currently, lvl 10 will be a 80%/320% dmg/hp increase, which should be quite the challenge for all but the best equipped.

Which should be nearly impossible for all and really challenging for the best equipped is my hope! :P

OT: I'm gonna roll with 1 monster power until I feel comfortable (probably a few months due to me playing hardcore! xD)

Perhaps he wants to talk about *gasp* gay topics with other gay people? How often do you hear the subject of anything gay brought up in general conversation with a room full of straight people that didn't involve disparaging remarks, snide comments, snickering or all around homophobia?

    Quite often actually.

    Quote from OnlyYou

Why in the world would I get offended? Especially since someone looking for a straight group obviously would have nothing to do with me. I just want to have fun with other people I can more likely have interesting conversations with whilst playing.

But common, SOMEONE meeting my requirements would have seen this thread by now and contacted me :(

If you need interesting conversations straight people can provide that too you know.
Id probably not talk about hot male celebrities, but I can talk about most other stuff (and I also tend to never shut up :P)
I'm on EU though, so not really gonna work out.
However, I think you underestimate what certain straight people can talk about :P
