Seems like I'm the only one not liking the 'reduced incoming damage' part.

I agree, what is the point in reducing incoming damage? Isn't this game getting easy enough? I've been running through Act 2 and Act 3 pretty much unscathed lately.

I just don't understand why they're nerfing defensive abilities. Wasn't 1.04 supposed to make things easier for players? Why reverse that??

Oh. Wait. It looks like we both only read half of what Blizzard's actually doing. How foolish.

Well... the fact that incoming monster will be reduced will have a big effect on wither or not you even need a defensive ability in the first place which is kind of the worry. Currently, I only barely need a single defensive ability (horrify) and I only use it for the + armor boost. With the new patch, I'm pretty sure I won't even need that... I can use big bad voodoo instead and still never have a chance at dying? That doesn't sound more fun... it sounds more mind numbing.

By nerfing monster damage, you're making it more likely that you'll hit a point of gear where you no longer even need a defensive skill. That's why some people aren't thrilled with the idea of even lower monster damage.

I see that concern, but let me put it into my viewpoint (Also, it may be worth noting I only play hardcore).

On my monk I have SSS (Only for the short invul), Serenity, Mantra of healing + time of need rune, Breath of Heaven and Mystic Ally runed earth ally. The last spell is FoT with Thunderclap because you can gain 225% LoH per hit, making it a really great ability to keep yourself alive.

Like you see, 5 defensive spells and 1 semi-defensive spells, that shows a bit HOW important they are. If I take less damage and can therefore drop atleast one defensive spell for something more offensive, Id be happy.

I'm over 4k, so the farming phase is (almost) over. Oddly enough, the only one I've looked at and thought "Screw that" is the demon hunter one for killing 100k demons. It's completely out of whack compared to the other class achievements, and boring as hell.

100k aint that much, even if its limited to demons.
Just kill down in that fiery place in act III and it should be quick.

posted a message on Monk LoH efficency
Hello every1. Im going to attempt to find the LoH values.
To do this, I am going to assume there is no decimals at all. (No spell will give 49.5% or 58.3%).
I will buy 2 really cheap and bad 1h's with socket in them, and place LoH gem with +35 and +65 in them, giving a total of 100 LoH. Then Im simply going to be testing it by having no health regen at all, and unequip an item giving vit and reequip it in order to see how much I get healed.

However! Effects that don't deal their damage instantly (Exploding Palm, Sweeping wind, way of the hundred fists and even tempest rush) Im not going to test.
Why? Because I play hardcore. If I one shot a mob on normal, Ill still get the full LoH back. However, theese would require me to go up on higher difficults to find opponents that have enough HP for me to do some actual testing. Since Im unequiping all my gear with HP/s and using crap weapons, Im simply not going to take the risk of testing those skills. I dont use them myself either, so it's no real benefit for me to test them out.
That's why I ask you guys to go out and test theese effects if possible, and bring me back the results.

What I expect if you decide to help me:
    1) Accurate data. Use a value on LoH that is easily checked. 100, 200, 400 etc. It is better with no data than inaccurate / wrong data.
    2) Check for AoE effects. Does 1 sweeping wind target provide 10% LoH and 2 20%? or would they maybe give 15% with 2 targets? All that kind of information is useful.
    3) Runes. The return may change depending on if it starts covering more area / less area, I also belive LL and LoH share the exact same return, so please keep in mind even damage changes when it comes to runes.
    4) Do not have any LL/Life Regen. It will cause inaccurate data.

Im going to post my values at a later point, expect them tonight sometime (maybe in 12 hours from the making of this post).

Wasn't expecting those to be the top killing mobs either, i was expecting those suiciders from act 3, they killed my friend and allmost me!

I think its because people expect that, but you dont expect thosse walking corpses to be any threat - at all.

Pretty solid, good balance. I don't understand why u have exhalted soul in the build though.

    Here is mine http://us.battle.net...85/hero/2479115

Your hp seems a bit low. Not quite sure how you survive with that amount of hp. My guess is that your hp is the reason you haven't cleared act3 yet, so I'd try to improve that asap. Your belt, bracers and helm seems like good places to start buliding your gear stronger.

    Here's mine, http://eu.battle.net...66/hero/9654673
I'm looking for tips on where you would invest next to get the biggest upgrade

Your gear is really good, but as I see it you have no LoH or LL, which will affect your sustainability. I think atleast getting LL (you seem to be past the break point for LL vs LoH) would be a good idea, though you prolly know better than me :P I dont know the feel behind playing a monk geared like that (iJelly).

Here is mine, it recently hit 60 (cuz stayin alive is hard). Any tips appreciated :D

posted a message on what we need is really spiced up pvp, not the standard no-risk model
    Honestly, this would be retarded.
    1) Hardcore chars, should we either be excluded from this system or risk randomly getting killed by another player?
    2) One thing I enjoy about playing single player is the ability to pause the game and go AFK, without feeling the risk of being dead when Im back, its rude to make others at the dinner table wait for you. If any1 can randomly join my game, then ofc pause wouldn't work.
    3) The fear of asking noob questions in general chat would arise, because some1 could find "oh, he is a noob, free kill" and this would kill the community, the Diablo community is currently really helpfull and nice ATM, lets make it stay that way.

Honestly, there could be a lose penalty in the Arena, but besides that, no risk thanks.

posted a message on Common deaths in HC
Hey, D3DB.com (another nice website) have scanned the "armory" for deaths in hc, and especially deaths in inferno.
Here are top 10 reasons for deaths (and als how many of each) Link to the original post: http://d3db.com/news/id/314-10-deadliest-hardcore-monsters/

I find it quite funny how its stuff like Walking Corpses, Skeletons and Risen that are the top killers. Theese are probably some of the weakest mobs, making me think that people often underestimate them.
    Your thoughts?

posted a message on The end of Shanto The Wizard
I had just had a lagg spike which I survived fine (It was against white mobs and I paused instantly I realized it).
So I figured I should restart Diablo etc, when I was back in my MS was at 61 which was fair, but to be sure I ran around for aproximately 2 minutes, used a few spells and stuff to make sure everything was fine, after the running around I checked my MS and it was down to 53 so I thought everything was fine.

I went out, the first mobs I saw was a Champion pack, so I was using Dissintegrate against them to engage, and nothing happend, I thought "whew, lucky I could have engaged the mobs" after aprox 1 min of nothing happending (I paused right after I realized my spells didnt work just in case) it told me "You have been disconnected (error 3007)" so I tried to log in and boom, dead wizard.

I feel tricked! D: Especially considering everything worked fine until I engaged combat....
I don't mind dieing on hardcore, cuz I wouldn't went hardcore if that had been a problem for me, but I absolutely hate dieing to lagg.
But there aint a lot to do about it, just suck it up and make a new char, but I don't know which class to make. I already have a 36 something monk I dont wanna play, and I don't want a witch doctor. What do you guys think I should go for? DH, Wiz or barb? :P
