Tried an arcane build with the 4p Blackthorne bonus and Ice Climbers, and even with Moonlight Ward, I had trouble getting it to work in T3. Going full BT just gimps my dps too much.

I could try fire, but I'd hate to play fire w/o my Cindercoat.

It's hard (if not impossible) to argue with anyone who thinks the current state of D3 RoS is a grass cake or mud, as far as quality in ARPGs go. Most of these are simply stuck in a specific mindset that they're never gonna be able to let go.
It's hard to argue with the fact that RoS has made huge improvements to vanilla D3 in just about every aspect of the game. I feel that the game is in a fantastic place right now, and the fact that we're arguing over minor points is a testimony to that awesomeness :)

yea sources, but in kadala they are called orbs.
That's also the case on the D3 game guide on battle.net, weird.

posted a message on DPS and toughness by torment level?
    Hi, fellow wizards.

How much dps and toughness are you stacking, and on what torment level are you playing?

Right now, I'm sitting around :

    - dps : 1.1M, +95% fire (fire build)
    - toughness : 9M for 270k hp (standing still with unwavering will) + dominance

I'm soloing T3 comfortably, T4 being considerably less efficient mostly because I have to move around a lot more. I have yet to try the higher torment levels (except for the occasional T6 Hell Rift which is easy to solo).

I see comments like yours multiple times daily, where someone will describe their utterly random drops, all while claiming RnG isn't actually random.
There's no such thing as RNG on a computer. The correct term is Pseudo-RNG, or PRNG, because a computer can't do "real" random.

What people are saying is that Diablo 3's PRNG system might be flawed. It happens frequently, even in the most robust cryptographic applications, so it *might* be possible. I'm not saying it actually *is* flawed (that would require extended statistical data that we don't have), just that it's quite possible.

Yeah, it feels like they might improve upon the "pity" legendary system.

What I'd like to see :

    • a system that will guarantee a minimum number of legendaries per number of mobs killed
    • a separate counter for set items
Here's how it might work (the numbers are just given as an example) :

    1. legendary counter starts at 0
    2. legendary counter increases by 1 for each white mob killed, and by 100 for elite/champion packs or bosses
    3. if legendary item drops, reset counter to 0
    4. when the counter reaches 10.000, if no legendary has dropped, next item drop is a legendary and counter resets
    For sets :

    1. set counter starts at 0
    2. set counter increases in the same way as legendary counter
    3. if set item drops, reset counter to 0
    4. when the counter reaches 50.000, if no set item has dropped, next legendary will be a set drop

Congrats on your Shard of Hate :)

From a gearing point of view, since you're already using 2p Asheara, I'd suggest you go ahead and craft the gloves, as the 20% life is a significant survivability bonus. Also, look for the Ring of Royal Grandeur (act 1 horadric caches) for easier set bonuses, but you might want to wait for patch 2.0.5 to start farming, the drop rates will be increased.

Regarding your build, you have too many spenders. You're mostly using Frozen Orb, and I can understand how this synergizes with Blizzard, so I'd suggest dropping Heat Wave. You might try Teleport - Calamity as a replacement, as it can be used both offensively and defensively, or a Familiar (Sparkflint for increased damage, for instance).

    Quote from Krakatua

i run an arcane wizard, but from what i have seen you dont need attack speed at all. So you be better to have a crit dmg/chance +vit + int Magefist, and witching hour or Harrington belt (you could even try to get a vit int with 2 out of armor/res/%life).
Yeah, the Magefist's one of those items that aren't perfectly rolled, but AS is still good for a Mirrorball fire wizard, since we're using MM a lot.

I'm also still looking for a Witching Hour :)

posted a message on T3 fire wiz : where to go from there?
    Hi, fellow wizards,

My toon now has a decent setup, and I'm not quite sure where to go from here. Right now, my stats look like :

    http://eu.battle.net/d3/fr/profile/Taliesyn-2517/hero/3808945

Offense :- 1.1M dps standing still
    - +95% fire damage
    - +26% damage to elites
    - Mirrorball :)

    Defense :
    - 9M standing still
    - 260k hp
    - 15% less dmg from elites
    - 7% less melee damage- 13.5% less ranged damage
    - Ice Climbers :)

Apart from praying for good drops (Tal/Vyr/Firebird's, or TF/SoH), I'm not sure how I should proceed. At this point, every small change means a lot of toying around to keep Asheara and Aughild set bonuses.

I know I'm missing a Stone of Jordan, and that some of my stuff could be better rolled (I'll wait for 2.0.5 to farm another RoRG, thank you!), and I need a better weapon, but I never saw a TF drop, and I've crafted 3 Devastators so far, none of them really good.

I'm also considering looking for BT legs, since I already have a decent BT belt, but I'd need to use the boots as well to get the 4p bonus, and I don't want to lose my Ice Climbers ...

As always, any advice is mucho appreciated :)

I expect to be going back to arcane every now and then, just to change playstyles - and because I finally looted a halfway decent Moonlight Ward. So maybe MM would be better on the Mirrorball, to be on the safe side.
    Quote from Jamoose

If you want to go for a MM build then yes, rolling 15% on the MB and the Hellcat will be awesome.

I'm not sure if you need vitality on the Cindercoat though... You already have like 300k life without the 13% life on it. I would probably go for a high roll of armor / all res.
Without the vit on the Mirrorball, I'm sitting around 9M toughness/1800 all res when standing still, so yeah, maybe all res would be better.

Thanks to both of you for your advice!

posted a message on Enchanting questions : Cindercoat, Mirrorball and Hellcat Waistguard
    Hi wizards,

I'm not sure how to reforge 3 of my items, and I'd appreciate some advice.

    Here's my profile : http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Taliesyn-2517/hero/3808945
    I'm currently running a Mirrorball firebuild (MM/Meteor/Black Hole), almost 1.1M dps/+92% fire.

The items I'm wondering about are :

    - Cindercoat (452 int, 19% fire, 13% life, 3 sockets) : not enchanted yet, I want to reforge the 13% life, but not sure into what : vit or all res?

    - Mirrorball (688 int, 9% crit, 7% dmg against elites, vit) : I've already moved that one around several times, just moved back from APoC to vit, but I'm not sure it's the best solution. Should I go for a socket and int, all res, or just MM damage?

    - Hellcat Waistguard (492 int, 449 vit, 7% IAS, 4% dmg against elites) : never reforged, wondering whether it's worth it to switch from 4% dmg against elites to MM damage

    Any advice appreciated!

    Quote from Awaken1980

I noticed that Meteor Shower is not so much worth it, and hardly increased damage beacuse of the time lost spamming MM. IMHO its better to use Molten Impact, you only stop once, but when you cast the Impact its way overpowered compared to MM spam and does massive damage.
At my current gear level (slightly below 1M dps + 92% fire and +26% vs elites), it feels like Molten Impact doesn't pack enough ooomph for one hit every 15 secs, whereas I can spam 4 or 5 showers in a row.

Since I'm mostly using meteor on packs and MM on bosses, it fits my playstyle.

That's just RNG for you. The Mirrorball Kadala sold me came with intel, crit chance and damage against elites. Its damage range was pretty low, though, or it'd have been perfect :)
