posted a message on Price check : barb tank pants
    Greetings,

I recently looted some pants with the following stats, and am wondering how much it'd be worth for a tanking barb :

    553 armor
    +162 strength
    +253 vit
    +51 all resist
    one socket

Any input appreciated, EU buyers welcome as well ;)

I'd definitely look at a non-APoC OH. 19 should be sufficient with your high crit. If you drop too much crit, like swapping from nats to rare ring with only 3-4% crit, you might lose the ability to sustain against single target. If you mainly solo farm with scoundrel then you probably don't have to worry about that as long as you're still above 50% CC. In that case IC+rare ring will probably give you more dps. You'll lose a little crit but it won't be too bad since you don't have a crit nat's ring. I prefer the IC combo because I prefer the higher dps.

Also, you can probably get better BT pants for cheap since the AR on those is kind of low and the bonus roll is mostly useless for wiz. I'm fond of AR+armor BT pants but those are probably more than your budget, so it might not be worth worrying about for now.

I'd also look into crafting bracers and just buying a VW. I like VW for SNS, crafted for Archon. If you feel comfortable dropping the vit on your shoulders, then you can probably get 250 int, 100-150str VWs for a couple mil. At least you can on the US AH, or could the last I looked. You can make up the vit loss on your new OH. You'll also gain some life with IC if you go that route.
Thanks for the detailed reply, Loroese, your insight is greatly appreciated!

I bought a lot of my stuff with cheap bids, hence the often crappy secondaries like on my BT pants. Got a pair of IC yesterday evening, it's not a dps gain over Nat's, mainly because I don't have a good 9% IAS ring to replace Nat's. The IC are still gonna be nice for alternate builds like disintegrate, though.

As far as shoulders go, I upgraded them with another craft, 202 int, 93 vit, 72 res all and 7% life, but only 353 armor. I'll look into high int VW if I can grab a pair, the higher mitigation would be a good thing, and I probably can grab some more mitigation on BT pants as well.

I'll have to consider switching to the scoundrel, still running enchantress with a Grand Vizier.

For the rest, it's time to gamble and craft bracers then gloves :)

you can bypass a captcha on a website because its implementation is much more "reachable". As the articale states is was using a glitch in the sessionID generation. Accessing your diablo3 login sessionnn would require you to manipulate your memory instead of pressing f12 and use chrome tools.
Or just use some kind of autoit script to scan for the right image, capture it, feed it to the OCR, grab the result and feed it back to D3.

It's Diablo, not a roguelike, and I don't ever want it to be some kind of hipster indie game clone. The solution should be dungeon content quality, not quantity.
While I can certainly agree with the fact that quality is (far) better than quantity, I still have this feeling that Diablo *is* directly descended from Rogue, Moria, Nethack et al.

Sooo ... I've reached a point where I can comfortably farm with my CMWW build (both in terms of efficiency and hand comfort :)).
MP7 seems to be the sweet spot for me, as I can run a full SNS build, switching to FA/pinpoint barrier for MP8. MP9/10 are possible but terribly inefficient at my gear level.

Now, I'm looking for gear upgrades on a tight budget (30M max, I'm poor), both in terms of dps and EHP. I've identified the following possibilities.

    EHP :
    - craft better shoulders (at least 3 out of 4 among vit, life%, armor and AR)

    DPS :
    - get a better natalya's ring (I should be able to grab a 3-4k dps gain for cheap)
    - get a better chantodo's force, possibly dropping APoC on this piece (have 19 APoC between wand and SC)
    - get a better second ring, if possible crit chance+crit damage since my CD is low, but I don't have the budget for a nice rare

Have I missed something obvious? (apart from the weapon, but there again, I don't have the gold for a real upgrade)

EDIT : I might also look into replacing my 2p Natalya with Ice Climbers/some other crit ring.

I'm using a very, very basic AHK script (it's at home, I can provide it if someone's interested), which just cycles through different keys each time you press the macro key.

So basically, the first time I press it, it sends "1" (let's say FN), the next time it sends "3" (DS), the next time "4" (EB) then back to "1".

One key press, one hardware event, so it *should* fit within the TOS (as always, no guarantee as long as Blizzard doesn't explicitly states it's allowed).

posted a message on Farming for exp: a little question!
Fields of misery has huge packs, and the mobs are usually less dangerous than act 3 (just be careful with the charging beasts). I'd suggest doing act 1 on MP1, hitting the Festering Woods for your 5 stacks, then cleaning the Fields of Misery (including Decaying Crypt if you happen to find it), then Weeping Hollow.

If you don't already have it, buy a cheap black weapon, ideally with a bit of life steal, buy an cheap triumvirate as off-hand, and use an archon spec to melt everything quickly on MP1.

Honestly if you don't expect to run Ubers I'd just stay at 2.5 APS, especially if you were somewhat used to running with lower APS. The freeze strength is still pretty good and it's a lot easier to stack DPS and EHP at 2.5 APS as opposed to 2.73 APS. For Ubers you could just use an IAS Chanto to hit 2.73.
I was planning on following your guide and getting a 1.78 or 1.79 APS Chanto to switch (as soon as I get the gold, anyway :))

Emmo explained it as well as I could have myself. 10% increase in WW tics and ~10-20% increase in number of twisters out, plus extra EB and DS procs, leads to around 33% increase in LoH returns. From the plot you can see there's a smaller jump at the 2.73 breakpoint. Some people prefer that breakpoint for the increased survivability but it's not quite as drastic a jump as the 2.5 breakpoint, which is why I recommend at least 2.5 APS.
Yep, the graph was a pretty clear illustration of the breakpoints. I tried running with 2.507 APS (w/o enchantress), and it feels definitely more comfortable. I had a try at the Vault of the Assassins in MP10, and managed to clear it reasonably easily with my measly 94k dps (despite a couple deaths when I accidentally pulled a champion pack and two elite packs together). The main difficulty is usually not to die at the pull because of my low EHP (217k).

I've switched around a few pieces, and I can get up to 2.74 APS, but using an Andariel's instead of a Storm Crow, which brings me down to 16 APoC, not sure if it's worth it. I guess I'm just gonna craft some more gloves hoping for a 9% IAS/crit combo and then replace my Lacuni by high EHP bracers.

Obviously Loroese himself should give you the elaborate answer and a "clear explanation", but in the meantime... if you're not afraid of maths take a look at this post where he ran some simulations that shed light on the APS/LoH maths and other stuff: http://www.diablofan...n/#entry1055952
Ah, thanks, I had only read the first post in that thread and stopped there, since I don't have matlab handy. The second post does a wonderful job of answering my question, in particular the graphs showing LoH and FN uptime breakpoints.

I'd aim for the 2.5 breakpoint. The LoH returns are about 33% greater than the breakpoint below it, so it's a lot better for game play.
Going from 30 to 33 ticks per WW cast is a 33% greater LoH return? I assume there's some arcane reason for this (these are the wizard forums, after all), but I wouldn't mind a slightly clearer explanation :)

I figure most of the people using the guide are in low to medium budgets so they're mostly in need off mitigation stats like AR and armor.
So true. I'm on a very tight budget (as in, I have about 5M gold left), and my CMWW set feels positively squishy.

Thanks to the advice on this thread, I managed to reach a point where I can farm MP6 reasonably well with a SNS build. Still dying every now and then, usually to a pack of fast high-damage white mobs when I don't pay enough attention, and I really feel that I need more EHP.

Right now, my set (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Taliesyn-2517/hero/3808945) gives about :
    - 75k dps
    - 51.5% crit
    - 145% crit damage
    - 2.36 attack speed
    - 212k EHP
    - 3% LS
    - 1650 LoH

I've been considering ditching my Lacuni to get some rare high EHP bracers, but I'll have to check whether that would make me drop below the 2.30 breakpoint.

Also looking to increase my dps, maybe if I can find a cheap Chantodo's with a socket.

Thanks for this amazing guide. I'm a returning player (back from 1.0.3), running a low-profile sorc and mostly enjoying mp3 archon runs with 170k dps buffed.

I've been trying the CMWW build, compensating for rather low IAS and low CC with 29 APoC, but so far, my main problem isn't to find out how to gear up, but rather how to deal with the endless key spamming. It grows quickly tedious, not to mention a tad on the noisy side, something my wife is quick to point out :)

How do you do it? Keep FN, DS and EB keys continuously pressed, as well as the WW button? Mash the keys in a specific order?

Also, I've been wondering : while the use of a macro to transform a single keypress into multiple hardware events isn't allowed, would it be okay to use a macro that cycles through several powers one at a time? For instance, using a macro on key 'a' that calls '1' the first time you press it, then '2' the second time and '3' the first time?

Well, I'd like to thank all of you for the welcome and for the tips, and in particular a huge thank you to Zorgmeister who gave me some very nice items in addition to the useful advice.

I'm now doing comfortable MP2 archon runs with 140k dps buffed, built my first infernal machine, and just hit paragon lvl 10 ... 90 more to go :D

Please make sure to also visit the wizard forum for builds and gearing advices, almost everything you need is there.
Coming back from there, studied the builds for a while, but I'm not comfortable with CMWW. Might try black ice again come 1.0.8, though.

for instance i would change the mempo with a good andariel, the dps is far bigger just search for one with under 10% fire dmg take.
I've got an old one, but IIRC I got better damage on my cheap Mempo. I'll check again this evening.

As my personal advice, firstly i would change the chest you can find far better instead of tyrael and you don't need the movement speed on chest since a low roll inna pants are still a great dps improve and also give movement speed.
I picked Tyrael as a cheap replacement for an old rare with decent vit, since I intend to replace my pants. Yep, they're a *legacy* Inna :)

finally, instead of the skorn, i personally preffer 1h with source, the 9-10 crit chance on offhand is a bliss, and you can find 950+ dps weps with life steal and socket quite cheap.
I bought a very cheap triumvirate and chantodo's wand to try CMWW, but I have yet to find a decent 1H black weapon that I can afford at this point. Still looking, though!

oh i forgot, if you want add me at: zorgmeister#2199 EU server, i'll give you 5-8 mils or if you want i can buy 5-8 mils items worth and give you, no charge for that :)
That's extremely generous of you. :)
However, I enjoy doing things by myself, and your answer in itself is worth much more than the gold ;)

    Thanks a lot!
