Mar 29, 2011PhrozenDragon posted a message on March MayhemBlizzard was never going to win this. Even against the high unprobability that they were to beat Bioware, Valve would still have crushed them. Which is a shame, but that's how it is.Posted in: News

Yeah that's not going to happen. First of all, Bungie is getting it's ass handed to it by Bioware (no surprise), but even if that were not the case, they would both face each other before the finals due to the bracket structure
I think Bioware is going to take Blizzard, and then it'll be them against Valve. Though I hope for Blizzard. -

I don't know, they're gonna have to beat Valve in round five. That's gonna bet tough for them. As much as people like Minecraft, I think there are a whole lot more people on thescapist who like half-life/team fortress/portal. And with Portal 2 coming?Quote from liquorice
The makers of Minecraft. With minecraft being a mouth-to-mouth promoted gam, I don't think it's weird that they manage to collect more votes in a poll such as this even versus a giant like Nintendo. Will be interesting to follow their progress. They could very well win it all.

What's the big deal with Skyrim anyway? All I see is a flashier version of Oblivion. And sure, that was a good game. But compared to Blizzard? Come on...Quote from Donsro
I'll vote Blizz for D3, not WoW. But I don't know man... Bethesda is doin work with Skyrim

Mar 22, 2011PhrozenDragon posted a message on March MayhemMy bracket got totally screwed up this year. I was so damn close to pitching Mojang up against Valve, but in the end I decided that Nintendo would probably overtake them. Boy was I mistaken.Posted in: News
Mojang btw is the developer for Minecraft. If you don't know what that is, you've been living in a cave.
Yeah that's not going to be a problem.Quote from ScyberDragon
If Blizzard can conquer this bracket, then they will face either Square Enix or Naguhty Dog for the North Division Champions.
I'll pass on the hate today, but maybe tomorrow. -
Mar 19, 2011PhrozenDragon posted a message on The Man Behind the CainI was quite, and pleasantly, surprised by the length of this interview when I first read it. Gough definitely went beyond what I had expected at least. A nice fellow it seemsPosted in: News
And in retrospect, putting that little disclaimer at the top that this is not the same Gough that played Albert in Batman was a good thing. I figure most of the regulars here can tell the difference, but the link Blizzard threw us from Facebook begs to differ. -
Mar 18, 2011PhrozenDragon posted a message on Rune Swapping Restrictions PollPosted in: News
That's a good point, one I hadn't considered when I voted. I may just change my vote.Quote from Airandius
Argument:
I can understand that people want to have gold sinks, but travelling a lot is just stupid for something like changing a rune.
Besides it fights against two of Blizzards policies regarding the gameplay.
- Going back to town a lot is a big nono.
- Fast paced gameplay.
That being said, I don't think it's going to be without restrictions. I don't think Blizzard has intended for people to use their inventory as a rune box where they keep several versions of each rune that they might want to use when they encounter a specific monster. Because no restrictions will easily lead to this. -

True, though to be honest it's not a huge dump for Blizzard. They wouldn't have to give me first class :rolleyes:Quote from Don_guillotine
I think it's mostly the fact that an overseas plane ticket for the first prize winner costs a lot more than a flight within North America. -

wild.mp3. You can download it here: http://www.diablofans.com/topic/23240-download-diablo-ii-music-cinematics-and-speech/Quote from Helfeather
Additionally, what track is that at the beginning? I don't remember the Sisters' Theme or Wilderness being that sharp and chilling! Is it a remastered version or perhaps just a higher quality one? Could someone enlighten me?
But maybe include some images for those who don't? Arguably it could be helpful when talking about the poll for example, you could show a reel of all 10 character models?Quote from Sixen
This was something him and I were discussing and would potentially change in the future. Though we both agreed that most of the time when you listen to a podcast, you're doing other things... Playing your own game, driving, working out, whatever.
For future pondering of course -

Exactly. He thinks it's Tyrael, so he tells him what he experienced, since except for a brief few moments in Tal Rasha's tomb Tyrael had no idea what Marius was doing.
The soulstones were made by Tyrael from the Worldstone in order to trap the three Prime Evils. But the soulstones were, as Izual told you in Act IV, inherently flawed and made it possible for the Three to influence the world around them. Baal's soulstone was furthermore used as the tool by which he corrupted the Worldstone.
The High Heavens are on an equal footing with the Burning Hells, they're not a superior force. And they've been trying for the better part of the Eternal Conflict. But since about 3,000 years ago there's a truce between Heaven and Hell, and Heaven is furthermore not even aware that the Prime Evils are on Sanctuary. So, fearful that the truce will be broken if Heaven finds out, Tyrael attempts to solve it in secret by having humans, the Horadrim, deal with the Three.
Not really. He's been sent to the Black Abyss. We don't quote know what it is, but it's assumed to be a placed where demons go after dying, and from whence they can presumably be brought back. That's the theory at least.

Baal needed the soulstone in order to corrupt the Worldstone.

I mean, some things certainly are in the canon even though they only appear in non-canonical material. Ureh for instance. But we have no idea of knowing what parts of The Kingdom of Shadow are true and which aren't. Perhaps most is true, perhaps nothing but the name and location is still canon.

Not necessarily bad. Have you read them?

Nope, there are no spoilers regarding D3 in the questions, so you can read them safely. They only spoil the plot of the Sin War books

Civilingenjör, correct? Then I believe the correct english name is "Master of Science in Engineering"

The whole point about the Book not being taken literally is because the book is written from Cain's perspective. This means they can cover their asses if minor issues or inconsistencies should arise. But the big parts like Anu, the Mage Clan Wars, the remade events of D2 etc. are clearly canonical.

This is totally true. I mean take an awesome name like "The Shadow Council", which translates to "Skuggrådet". Obviously that doesn't really say anything to anyone who isn't a native Swedish speaker, but at least you guys will understand what I mean.
The only time Swedish was ever cool was in the Swedish dub of Dungeon Keeper. Now that was awesome.

Andariel's Visage existed in D2 as well: http://www.diablowiki.com/Andariel's Visage (Diablo II)
Tyrael's Might existed in D2 as well: http://www.diablowiki.com/Tyrael's_Might_(Diablo_II)
In similar ways D2 also had Atma's Wail, Duriel's Shell and Ormus' Robes. And those were just the //www.diablowiki.com/Unique_Armor_%28Diablo_II%29">armors" class="wiki-link">//www.diablowiki.com/Unique_Armor_(Diablo_II)">armors"/> armors. These names are likely just there to give some flavour to the items we acquire.
