posted a message on Response to D3 looks like WoW

Torchlight looks like WoW, if D3 looked like that, that much cartoony, THEN I wouldn't be able to play it. As it is now, it's not Path of Exile graphics but hell it's still decent.

In my humble opinion, path of exile looks bland and uninspired. The gameplay might be there, but strictly looking at the art, the color palettes are muddy and boring, and many of the armor sets and weapons look like they didn't take enough creative liberties with shapes, etc.

This post i found on reddit about Bethesda's art kind of sums up what exactly i'm trying to hone in on about Path of Exile's "art style" (though i dont think PoE really has a deliberate art style, just mediocre art...same with most bethesda games):
    http://i.imgur.com/7Ypk4.gif

I'm pretty pleased with Diablo 3's art though. Yeah it has happy spots that might be a bit too colorful for a game about hell and demons, but i've heard their art director mentioning the importance of contrast. Like you need a warm area for the cold areas to feel truly cold.

Like in Diablo 2, the switch over from the dry, bright act 2 to the wet, and darker act 3, it just makes it more interesting than if act 3 was a simply a slightly different type of desert. It's that contrast that keeps it interesting.

It's exactly that, that i like about the Diablo 3 art style. It's full of contrasts, it's painterly (looks like a storybook illustration) and still seems to have the "darker" stuff (siege beast from the first gameplay video). I dont think it looks like WoW at all. It definitely has a style of it's own and looks a hell of a lot better than that Diablo 3 appetizer, Path of Exile.

Thank you! damn i thought i was alone when i watched all the poe teasers and didn't like their color choices or textures.

That has the Tea Party written all over it.

lol I hope you mean the tea party is being generalized, if not you just proved my post

posted a message on online only?
Man some people are ridiculous, i am STILL hearing the complaints about no mods/ offline only/ RMAH.

no mods and offline only go hand in hand. To make mods, someone would need the architecture of the game to change things around. And to play offline your computer would have to have every diablo 3 file. This leads to immediate hacking, duping, and scamming. with a real money auction house this HAS to be forbidden, because while before the aforementioned hacking and duping was annoying, now its a way to make money illegally, posing real legal threats to blizzard.

Now I'm sure your question is, well why the eff do we even NEED a RMAH? Because unless you want diablo to go the way of WoW with almost every item soulbound / BoA, and you want to lose the fun of your friend finding that awesome sword and letting you have it, you need the RMAH. Without it, all those 3rd party websites will pop up, and people will STILL be able to buy and sell the items, but its unsecured, and shadey, and when you spend that 200$ on those items, and they don't deliver, you are screwed, blizz won't, and can't step in to help. Its a lesser of two evils, and I would rather have blizz oversee player to player transactions.

    Quote from theSkaBoss

Yeah, but those effects are boring. I'm sure we can think of funner ones. Like maybe you go all Back to the Future and leave a trail of fire between the start and end points. :D

Well, they have that too =) kind of. One rune on the wizards disintegrate spell leaves a pool of lava at the feet of the wizard it looks like, on a gameplay video =P

Other possibilities could be reduced resource cost or reduced cooldown. Actually do runes have those kind of effects or only things that actually alter the skill itself ?

No you are right, there are runes that reduce costs of spells, such as the wizards ray of frost, costs less but does slightly less dmg if i remember correctly

i like the opposite TP effect of removing a monster to the other side of the screen =)

As far as the damage goes, that's already been implemented. check out the youtube channel on this website you'll see a damaging teleport =)

Thats why I'm playing a WD. Seriously though. Thats pretty fucked up how little creativity that set has. It mimics so much from wow sets. They could at least TRY to do something different. Damn.

Draw up something then, and submit it. Nothing off the top of your head? You want blizzard to do exactly as you wish, even when YOU don't even know what it is you want? I mean, really, if you are just making threads to whine *bonks on head*, knock it off

Oh god....That last one is AWFUL. Are you kidding me? FFFFUUUUUUUUUU. Godamnit that's a WOW set...Seriously? Cmon....Sigh..

Listen to the latest podcast they make a really good argument for why the sets and the whole style of D3 looks the way it does. And also, what, do you want you character to look like its still wearing T2 armor from normal? There are so many armor sets that need to be made to look distinct that the whining that its all not just black/spikey/covered in spines doesn't work, unless you want zero difference and flavor.

The game's always been about the loot (for me, atleast). The "endgame" was exciting news for me.

Also, "through" not "threw". At least, in the context you were using.

ahh grammar nazi! I actually thought about changing it because I figured that very thing would happen, but I felt like being lazy except for the last one there

I didn't threaten to kill you or anything (thanks for calling me a Nazi...-_-). I just politely corrected you, and it'd be appreciated if y'all didn't overreact like prepubescent children.
