Does anybody else find the mental picture of a barbarian throwing down with a massive demon with a little wand in his hand really funny? I'd like to see that just for the laughs.

Also, technically, it does make sense for a Barbarian to use a bow and arrow. Why? Because as a 'survival in the harsh wilderness' culture, you're going to need to hunt your food down. A fair amount of the time that'd mean shooting it. It's not as far fetched as you'd think. Also, things like Longbows - firing an arrow from one of those takes a LOT of strength. The people doing it on the battle field would probably be built like brick shit houses.

just think about the mongolians of the Ghengis Khan era. They were notorious for their mounted archers.

Yeah, I assume that is where the inspiration comes from. Most people probably won't remember this but thy had originally planned on the :wd: to have a fetish travel around with him on his back. They decided against it because they said it looked to awkward. Too bad, that would have been awesome.

Yeah that'd sound kinda like the ogre alchemist in warcraft 3...

Imagine if they had pursued the fetish on the back... think about all the inuendos and puns that would have ensued.

The lore of the Wizard class is that she is supposed to be above elemental magic. Granted, she has "storm" which is lightning and cold but the other skills are arcane and conjuring. Fire is given to the :wd: because fire itself is very primal. I think it matches him well. They also had to give it to someone, it's too classic to leave out.

If you want to see what skills the wd has, check out the wiki. I personally updated all of his skills based on the blizzcon 09 demo. He has some pretty cool fire abilities. My favorite is a ring of fetish that breath fire.

Don't forgot the little Fetish witch doctors spitting fire at you in Kurast too!!!

Yea but how many people are gonna use a skill point on that? Unless it is always given to the character, but how do they explain it for a WD?

Well.... think about how it would be a synergy of the conjuration skill tree. Weapon damage increases spell power.... being able to wield more melee damage therefore increases spell damage as well. It makes sense if played right

You really think they are gonna add in some animation or a skill to allow the Wizard to carry and wield that sword or are we supposed to just assume that the Wizard is using magic to wield it? WD should have a scythe, altho I am sure it would be hated on because the Scythe looked the best on a Necro and Barb, what he should really have it like a Pickaxe type weapon like a short scythe.

They could always do something like the Arcane Warrior Spec of the Mage in Dragon Age.... give a passive that allows you to base the str stat of items off the magic stat

so far I feel deprived of active skills

    especially for Barbarian or Wizard

I mean, when I think of intense gameplay, I don't think of using 3 buttons at a time I know in Diablo 2 my Meteorb (old meteorb) used like 10 spells

I mean honestly, I think for Wizard the lack of the spells will ruin the gameplay of wizard

I think of wizards or casters, I think of plenty of spells to use, variety

also you didn't HAVE to get all the auras, only for the synnergies...

I agree that wizard needs active skills... but i honestly HATE the concept of the barbarian having too many actives. Barbarians are supposed to be fucking melee.... not a wizard with different cinematics, and physical damage....

Well no, but if they're excluding weapons due to "flavor" reasons, and the wizards use wands because they feel magical, then it's pretty safe to say that since the barbarian utilizes damn near no magic, that they won't be beating down demons with a wand.

I hope the WD gets wands... seems to fit him very well.

You know... know that i read your initial post some more... bashiok mentioned that the wand is going to have projectiles. This makes me wonder if the wand is going to be similiar to the wand in torchlight?

Or the way he twitches and moves around, he looks like a crack addict.

that just made me think... the witch doctor kinda reminds me (the way he twitches) of the skit where dave chapelle is pretending to be a crack addict

I would definitely have to jump on the Ormus massacre bandwagon. Anyone who tells you that they may grant you wisdom in the third person deserves a little d3 style disintegration aimed at their face.

All the rest of you are going to have to get in line for Charsi though. Pretty sure she's already got a crush on me. Every time she introduces herself to my charcters, I get the distinct impression that she wants to jump my bones. Fingers crossed.

Dude... you're totally wrong... Charsi is always begging me to give her my hammer

the main benefit i can see to a wizard using a 2-hander is the fact that they typically deal the most damage. The conjuration tree seems to be based alot more on weapon damage, and so the 2-handed sword should imensely increase spell damage !!!!

i could really give a shit less if the monk can't wield a bow, or a dagger, or a maul... I like the weapons they already picked for him. Kinda stays in line with kung fu movies!!!

its the witch doctor i'm having trouble picturing wielding much more than a dagger, wand, staff, or 1 handed axe. I think it would look stupid to see the parkinson laden old boggy wielding a 2 handed sword, maul, spear etc....

The wizard doesnt have any fire spells? I never really looked at the skillstrees(even tho there are not trees anymore u know what I mean lol). If not, your right, the wiz should have a fire spec.

I personally think the wizard shouldn't even have the ice/lightning skills.... i think they shoulda made the class entirely non elemental. ( and maybe brought the sorceress back in the xpac as an elementalist)

We have to remember that the wizard is not the sorceress... they are supposed to be 2 seperate classes. Realistically, the sorc should called "elementalist", as normally when you think sorceress you think of the bitch turning people into sheeps and pigs (at least in terms of mythology).
