Enty posted a message on Cops Seize Town MeetingSince when do people get to tell policemen what to do. I thought that was only when they wanted someone off their property or like someones threatening them. I am all for policemen having power but that was absurd by any standard. I feel if anything those police men and women should be beaten within an inch of their lives then left alone to recuperate only to be beaten again.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo) -

Jetrall posted a message on Minecraft Middle EarthPosted in: Other GamesOf all the projects using Minecraft as a medium, MCME is quite possibly the most detailed and incredibly large undertaking ever. We are working to create what may become the first and possibly only seamless recreation of Middle-Earth that is 100% detailed and complete, allowing players to walk uninterrupted by loading screens from one edge of the map to the other. As if that weren’t enough, when the project is complete, a role-playing element is in the works along with npc’s and an actual storyline.
I've recently become a member of this online group working towards making Middle Earth (the land of the Lord of the Rings) a reality through a Minecraft server. It's pretty awesome - both the scale of the project on which we are working AND the people with whom you get to work. It's free to join, there's room for advancement among the ranks, and - best of all - you are even allowed to submit your own designs and build your own houses.
I urge anyone here interested in LOTR, Tolkien, and/or Minecraft to check out this website now: Minecraft Middle Earth!
Here are some pictures...
Here's the trailer from YouTube...

FingolfinGR posted a message on Anonymous: The PlanPosted in: Off-TopicQuote from OmniNom
1.) Capitalism is the only economic model that has proven to work at all. Every country that has attempted socialist or communist models has destroyed itself from within.
2.) No one is afraid of anonymous, except maybe the underage girls they've terrorized and the innocent people they've harassed. Or some of the families of car crash victims, who anonymous people sent pictures of their family member's mutilated corpses to.
For every heroic story of someone being rightfully punished by anonymous there is another of some poor person being harassed or threatened or... I don't even know what you'd call it. What do you call the kind of senseless horrific act of sending pictures of mutilated corpses to the victim's families?
They don't deserve fear. They don't deserve adoration or respect. They deserve pity.
1) We're saying the same thing. But because "it works", it doesn't mean we shouldn't improve it, right?
2) till the 24th second.

Seriously, though. Don't you know Anonymous is the hacker organization that stands by WikiLeaks and provides them with all the dirt of corporations and governments? -

never recalled the q/a so never even thought that you wouldn't fight diablo.
altho im not quite sure what your asking here though. Are you worried you wont get 2 take his soulstone once more?
well... i just think it wont "fell" like a real Diablo game if he isn't there . I know we kicked his A** twice and we took his soulstone and destroyed it... still... but yeah i quess im a little worried.
Sorry about the crappy quote...
Can anybody actually admit that after they bought the expansion D2 "felt" like a Diablo game. I invested a lot of time into that game and for the most part...Diablo was ignored unless somebody was grushed to hell. Once the expansion was released, it was a Baal game, not a Diablo game. -

Gheed2010 posted a message on Crossbows = GunsJust play a vanquisher in TL and see what you think - that's the obvious model for the DH.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
It's pretty funny, this game has character design that incorporates bizarre african/polynesian stereotypes from goofy fantasy literature 150 years ago, and had exploding potions that were basically grenades in D2 - but use a 15th century adaptation of a portable tube and gunpowder and oooohnoooes it isn't fantasy anymore! :nuke:
At least TL (and WoW, with the dwarves/goblins) has fun with the cyberpunk stuff and does something original with it - D3 is bound by fantasy cliches in all the wrong ways IMO. -

Nekrodrac posted a message on Crossbows = GunsPosted in: Demon Hunter: The DreadlandsQuote from Lt. Venom
For the last time, guns = gunpowder, so therefore guns = one-handed crossbows would mean one-handed crossbows = gunpowder, which doesn't work. So, in conclusion, one-hand crossbows ARE NOT guns. Argue with that logic now, bitches!!
For the number of times you have been repeating this, I would have thought you were purposely trolling if I didn't know any better.
I need to announce a tragic fact to you- YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY SENSE AT ALL.
Let me explain to you something that is having difficulty seeping through your brain. For diablo characters who could potentially shoot firebolts from their asses, specific weapon mechanics argumentation sound silly at best.
If there were guns in diablo, what makes you think they would have been powered by gunpowder? Just like the crossbow of the DH which can fire all sorts of things through skill enhancement, if guns were in diablo they would presumably be able to do all these stuff as well. And I doubt gunpowder use can result into molten or entangling projectiles skills.
Yes this is the world of fantasy. Some basics apply- like you wouldn't be hitting monsters on the head with a bow- but they are not as many as you think. Just like with the far-fetched, 'logical' explanations in this thread of how the DH uses xbows, you can clearly see how people can try to make 'sense' of any kind of crap.
Now why are people saying xbows=guns?
Because they feel like guns. The way the DH uses them is very similar to how guns are used in games(poses are akin to Devil May Cry which plays as a freaking third person shooter).
From here on, whether you call them dual xbows or dual pinatas, to most people who are not throwing a fit when the words 'gun' and 'diablo'are in the same sentence , these xbows will be very reminiscent of guns.
This is the reason why some are saying Blizzard have been hypocrites with their no guns in diablo. Point is, gun-type gameplay offers undeniable variety in builds and choices in skill development. This must have been the driving force behind the choice of the dual xbows which satisfies both game development needs and desperate and close-minded nerds' wishes. -

newt_mcmac posted a message on Crossbows = GunsAs one who grew up using a bow in practical applications, I've always had a little bit of an issue with the mechanics of ALL game or movie archers. NO MECHANICAL DEVICE could ever achieve the output of the Demon Hunter's crossbows. Of course with Diablo, one must accept that the archer classes are using their magic to both create ammo and reload their weapons, so this isn't really a problem.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
These are the reasons why many people get such a solid pistol vibe from her crossbows:
1) Every time the DH fires a crossbow, there is an instance of muzzle flash. Muzzle flash is the visible release of exploding gases from the barrel of a gun. It is generally quite easy to see in low light conditions.
- possible explanation - The head of her bolt is striking a piece of metal as it exits the weapon, causing a spark.
- my retort - If this were the case, the bolt would lose a great deal of it's speed, and it would be sent DRASTICALLY off course.
2) Every time the DH fires a crossbow, she experiences recoil. Recoil is the backwards force felt by the individual operating a firearm. It is caused by the explosion taking place inside the chamber.
- possible explanation - The DH is jerking her arm back as she fires because she feels that it makes her look more badass.
- my retort - Even the slightest movement at the moment of release can create a miss. Jerking the bow in the manner shown by the DH would result in her missing not only demons, but entire buildings.
Magical bows and shafts I can except; but why did we have to create someone firing a pistol, and then re-skin it? -

Sometimes, I just fucking hate America. I can't wait until I graduate and get the hell out of here, this place is unbearable. Everything we do is backwards, this just proves it. We can be led so easily by our emotions and no matter how logical one side of the argument is, we will never budge. What kind of person is that? That is an ignoramus of the worst kind and I hate knowing that I share the same zip code with people who think this way. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
