Dec 9, 2009Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "Don_guillotine" »Well the sole thing it brought was that after being thrown around on different platforms, at the end of the day it was given console-friendly controls, which was the thing that made it so popular.
Then what makes it better then other console-friendly fps's, like Golden Eye? It was just another game that just happened to stick as far as I can personally see. Yea, it was fun, but it had no story, it didn't do anything different, and it didnt add anything. At least Half Life 2 brought the idea of using physics as a weapon, even if the game was bleh.
Aug 22, 2009Hate to say this, a couple of your signatures cannot be used as it violates Rule 4D, one is 200 pixels tall and the other is 209, and you can only have a signature 150 pixels tall.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)
Other then that, best of luck to your signature-making future!!!
Apr 25, 2009Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from "Atila23" »I know this has be brought up in other threads but i want a straight answer Are we going to have to pay to play D3 !?!? YES or NO
You will not pay monthly for this game.
Op question is answered. Multiple times. In multiple threads. Over multiple months.
Dec 17, 2008They have stated that there will be 5 classes upon release. They also stated that there may be more with expansions, so it would not be a far stretch to imagine at the very least 2 expansions with at the very least 1 character, though most likely 2 each, thus bringing us to at the minimum of 7, but realistically, when Diablo 3 and it's expansions are out, it is viable to say that there may be upwards of 9 characters that one could play.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Jun 13, 2008Alright, now that I am on my computer, here are my suggestions. The new ranks will be in Green while any ranks moved will have a blue * by it and any ranks replaced will be in red beside the rank that I believe should replace itPosted in: Site Feedback
The Specter 0
The Peasant 1-9
The Squire 10-49
The Man at Arms 50-99
The Swordsman 100-199
The Knight 200-499
The Knight of the Realm 500-999
The Knight of the Order 1000-1499
The Paladin 1500-1999 * (Replaces The Cavalier)
The Lord 2000-2999 (Replaces The Paladin)
The Duke 3000-399
The Duke of Tristram 4000-4999
The Emmisary 5000-7499*
Tran'ouls Right Hand 7500+
Of course this is just a rough draft that I came up with off the top of my head. Give me a few hours and I am sure I can come up with some much better ranks. (Though I do like the "Tran'oul's Right Hand" one if I do say so myself...)
(Edited to add Atru's "The Specter" idea...)

The way the DH is presented makes her a alien in diablo's universe.
Wheras somebody wearing a two foot mask uttering 'ooga booga' and making frogs fall from the sky and someone in a kung-fu movie robe shooting laser beams fit, right?
Jan 9, 2011Just play a vanquisher in TL and see what you think - that's the obvious model for the DH.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
It's pretty funny, this game has character design that incorporates bizarre african/polynesian stereotypes from goofy fantasy literature 150 years ago, and had exploding potions that were basically grenades in D2 - but use a 15th century adaptation of a portable tube and gunpowder and oooohnoooes it isn't fantasy anymore! :nuke:
At least TL (and WoW, with the dwarves/goblins) has fun with the cyberpunk stuff and does something original with it - D3 is bound by fantasy cliches in all the wrong ways IMO.

For the last time, guns = gunpowder, so therefore guns = one-handed crossbows would mean one-handed crossbows = gunpowder, which doesn't work. So, in conclusion, one-hand crossbows ARE NOT guns. Argue with that logic now, bitches!!
For the number of times you have been repeating this, I would have thought you were purposely trolling if I didn't know any better.
I need to announce a tragic fact to you- YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY SENSE AT ALL.
Let me explain to you something that is having difficulty seeping through your brain. For diablo characters who could potentially shoot firebolts from their asses, specific weapon mechanics argumentation sound silly at best.
If there were guns in diablo, what makes you think they would have been powered by gunpowder? Just like the crossbow of the DH which can fire all sorts of things through skill enhancement, if guns were in diablo they would presumably be able to do all these stuff as well. And I doubt gunpowder use can result into molten or entangling projectiles skills.
Yes this is the world of fantasy. Some basics apply- like you wouldn't be hitting monsters on the head with a bow- but they are not as many as you think. Just like with the far-fetched, 'logical' explanations in this thread of how the DH uses xbows, you can clearly see how people can try to make 'sense' of any kind of crap.
Now why are people saying xbows=guns?
Because they feel like guns. The way the DH uses them is very similar to how guns are used in games(poses are akin to Devil May Cry which plays as a freaking third person shooter).
From here on, whether you call them dual xbows or dual pinatas, to most people who are not throwing a fit when the words 'gun' and 'diablo'are in the same sentence , these xbows will be very reminiscent of guns.
This is the reason why some are saying Blizzard have been hypocrites with their no guns in diablo. Point is, gun-type gameplay offers undeniable variety in builds and choices in skill development. This must have been the driving force behind the choice of the dual xbows which satisfies both game development needs and desperate and close-minded nerds' wishes.
Dec 13, 2010As one who grew up using a bow in practical applications, I've always had a little bit of an issue with the mechanics of ALL game or movie archers. NO MECHANICAL DEVICE could ever achieve the output of the Demon Hunter's crossbows. Of course with Diablo, one must accept that the archer classes are using their magic to both create ammo and reload their weapons, so this isn't really a problem.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
These are the reasons why many people get such a solid pistol vibe from her crossbows:
1) Every time the DH fires a crossbow, there is an instance of muzzle flash. Muzzle flash is the visible release of exploding gases from the barrel of a gun. It is generally quite easy to see in low light conditions.
- possible explanation - The head of her bolt is striking a piece of metal as it exits the weapon, causing a spark.
- my retort - If this were the case, the bolt would lose a great deal of it's speed, and it would be sent DRASTICALLY off course.
2) Every time the DH fires a crossbow, she experiences recoil. Recoil is the backwards force felt by the individual operating a firearm. It is caused by the explosion taking place inside the chamber.
- possible explanation - The DH is jerking her arm back as she fires because she feels that it makes her look more badass.
- my retort - Even the slightest movement at the moment of release can create a miss. Jerking the bow in the manner shown by the DH would result in her missing not only demons, but entire buildings.
Magical bows and shafts I can except; but why did we have to create someone firing a pistol, and then re-skin it?

Sometimes, I just fucking hate America. I can't wait until I graduate and get the hell out of here, this place is unbearable. Everything we do is backwards, this just proves it. We can be led so easily by our emotions and no matter how logical one side of the argument is, we will never budge. What kind of person is that? That is an ignoramus of the worst kind and I hate knowing that I share the same zip code with people who think this way.
Nov 17, 2010God, Mephisto I find your lack of common sense disturbing. I love how you take my one line and take it completely out of context when this entire thread could get anybody banned for "religious discrimination". If you want to debate, be prepared to be called out on your bullshit or please don't be part of this because I have a feeling that you are posting just to feel... what do you call it... "big".Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)
I would much rather believe in the harsh truth than the comforting lie, but apparently, that's just a "matter of opinion". I posted on your response to that and I would like to remind you that you also use quite "interesting" words to label other people's opinions, do please don't be a hypocrite. If you want to get me banned, please try. I am honestly sick of you coming into threads, posting opinions, and when people respond to it, you laugh at it and ruin the entire thread because you have to act like a troll in everything you do.
But hey, I guess that's just a matter of opinion.
Nov 14, 2010Actually he is right. Anybody with a scientific degree is usually not religious. Most college professors are atheist, usually those in mathematics, physics, chemistry, philosophy, biology (especially this one), etc. There is no taboo in science, and saying that there is might be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)

So are you just asking for internet sources then? Cause I doubt you're asking any of us to be actual sources for your paper as we wouldn't appear as a very good citation in your bibliography. Are you in high school or college? If you're in college, why haven't you used your library's online database to search for articles pertaining to the subject? When I use EBSCO host for finding articles, I find shitloads of periodicals on any given subject. If you are in high school, then I'm just sorry for you as most high schools have shitty resources for doing research.Quote from Lt. Venom
As some of you may or may not know, I am currently writing a 10 page Argumentative Thesis on Why Ancient Egypt would own Ancient Rome, if they both were in their prime, and not dropping their empirical status.
I need help finding sources for Ancient Egyptian Warfare, including weapons, commanders, battles won and lost, strategies and tactics, etc...
The same thing for Ancient Roman Warfare.
I just need some help on getting sources. I can get all necessary information from sources and writing it and citations and all that other bullshit that's required for a term paper. I would really appreciate your help.
