I wasn't expecting anything to be announced either. To just throw the game under the bus is sad. I mean this is Blizzard's show. Show some love to all your games. Does good for PR. I hope your right Nachten!
Opening ceremony containing no Diablo news is no surprise. The news will come tomorrow in the 1 hour with the streamers. Let's hope they manage to coordinate and extract some proper info.
Ok everybody calm their tits. They said there wasn't going to be any new announcements at Blizzcon like a month ago. Still plenty of stuff to do in the upcoming season with all the old builds coming back. Bored with seasons? Go play HC. Still bored? Go play other games and come back when they add something new. Whats the big deal?!

the big deal is, that they have a house convention and a 20 year anniversary of the franchise. you either time your schedules to accomodate the con to be able to feature d3:x2 or d4 or you at least try to add some content and works or celebration in some way. you don't just go through your WHOLE portfolio and leave ONE game completely out.
and sorry, to cop out and say "we have nothing to offer this year" doesn't make it right or does the franchise any justice. they really have only a skeleton crew working on d3 at the moment, they could really just admit that.
No stable income from Diablo 3, so whats the point of keeping it alive?
Non, unless blizzard finds a way to get income, diablo 3 will stop getting updates soon.
At least they fixed the Rainbow Portrait on consoles and they finally brought back double goblins. I seriously didn't think I would ever see that again. I am excited for season 12, going to play and complete the season journey on the XBox One X with friends and family. I will do the 4 chapters on the PC and PS4. I love Diablo 3. I heard a rumor of something going on for D3 at Blizzcon.
Well I don't want to be the one that gets you people all hyped, at least take it with a grain of salt, they actually said at the opening ceremony that they will announce new stuff for "ALL" the franchises. That in my opinion includes the Diablo Franchise aswell.
So they could simply announce something later today (second day).
We will see... If not, there will be news coming 2018 for whatever they are about to share with us regarding our beloved Diablo Franchise.

those are just empty words to keep the hype level as high as possible. turn on your tv and watch some random commercials... I think you get the point. If I want some real value information I follow actual Diablo news (like on this site) and no opening ceromony at blizzcon
they said there would be no Diablo news, that's all that counts for me. So it's as expected. No disappointment.
Sorry guys but this what you deserve because removal of trading, AH and RMAH a few years ago. People left the game when they removed this features from the game and they lost so much income from this too. I hope you enjoy your dead game.
I have to agree with you on this one. Maybe D3 is just a dying game. I'm wondering if their just going to let it die. Seems like it. Season 12 is coming soon. No news for D3 is so sad.
If you got your ticket based on Diablo then you should have been reading more about diablo. They announced a month back that diablo was not getting any news or updates.
"This year, we want to give you a heads-up that while Diablo will be on the show floor, we won’t be making any new Diablo announcements. There will be a time for that at some point in the future, but that time is not now."
Yes its true, they had this transparency going on with the said post. But honestly, why teasing us at BlizzCon Opening Ceremony with phrases such as " news for all the franchises" "we listen to the community" "all our games get the same love" etc...
I know this sounds incredibly whiney from my part, but when they do transparency, they should be honest and talk about it what happens with the franchise, and not this around the warm soup talk.
They clearly said they would let us see work in progress stuff, even if it is not yet ready for public, to show of their amazing work on all their games.
If there wasn't a WoW expansion coming up, I honestly think they would have skipped this year for blizzcon.
I'm not expecting much in the next few years either. Most of the blizz games I play I just don't expect big updates. Even for hearthstone, I knew a new expansion was coming just because it is just time for a new expansion. That is how card games work. They didn't need blizzcon to announce that.
Sorry to say but 2.6.1 patch is the final nail in the coffin for D3.
Isn't it fascinating from a pure human observation perspective of how D3 players run the entire gamut? It's no different than how the entire human condition displays itself on a regular basis. I happen to be a Mac user. For whatever reason, that fact alone infuriates some people. Joe Blow says, "Macs are overpriced pieces of sh*t!" Joe's neighbor, however, says: "If you like Macs, great. Whatever works for you." I also happen to eat a ketogenic diet. Another lightning rod for some people. Joe Blow with veins bulging from his neck and pounding his keyboard types furiously..."You're going to kill yourself eating so much fat!" But, my doctor as he is looking at my latest blood test happily tells me, "wow...this is clearly working. Nice job."
So, on the one hand, you have the trolls like Mr. Gonan above who want to simply jump on the dogpile and crap on D3, encouraging all of us that the game is dead. But, then there are the streamers, the developers, the players and mods like Bagstone on sites like this who put in lots of time...people who clearly love the game and are positive. I bought my BlizzCon virtual ticket and enjoyed every minute. No D4 announcements? Who cares? I watched some great high-level WoW arena matches, Starcraft pvp, a Muse concert, and yes, a nice D3 community panel.
I am very excited to begin season 12. Good luck and have fun all season players.

Sad. This game gets no love.
and you even see a big necromancer on the blizzcon logo. it is so very sad to not even whip up some small event or something.
i really do hope they are working on d4, i think they really abandoned d3 / RoS.
Stop playing the game, see how fast things change.
I love this game. Stop playing it won't change that. I want Diablo 4 man. We can only hope.

Well that escalated quickly...
Just my opinion
https://www.pcgamesn.com/diablo-2/diablo-2-warcraft-3-remaster-blizzcon
so no d2 remaster any time soon. by the way: those scarce morsels of news are still news. why don't they get to the frontpage?

All classes and sets get a major damage overhaul, increasing the play use of said game for maybe another month or two.
This patch is the last patch D3 will get, it is destined to put this game on the shelf for another year or two before they announce / release Diablo 4
