Well, from what I saw of the live feed, looks like the monk uses weapons and hand to hand. He is super friggin fast, there was one skill where he hit like four or five enemies in a second. Another one he was volleying fireballs back at enemies super fast. Seems like he might have a lot of AOE spells to use. Looks like it might be cool to me.
I think the monk might be a cool mix of the Paladin bible-thumping stuff and the Assassin's hand to hand combat. In other words, a nice mix of passive and *very* active skills. Coolness.
Looking at the colour palette of the current characters (blue, purple, orange, red) it seems like the 5th class will likely have a green or yellow motif. I'm guessing green. That leads me to believe it will be a new generation of a back-to-nature druid-like character.
Thus far, the witch-doctor is the only real summoning build so that reinforces my belief that we will have another summoning guy/girl to use with some sweet shapeshifting/elemental stuff thrown in. Whether they simply rehash the Druid (boring) or throw in some cool culture meshing like... oh.. I dunno... Navajo and Norse? Heck, they might make it a hybrid Druid-Ranger/Hunter thing which I think would be cool. It would encourage a ranged class (Hunting bows) and some use of natural elements like wind and really hungry bears.
I'm sure the boys at Blizzard have something super-neato up their sleeves.
Guys, he's not a monk. He is obviously Arabian/Middle Eastern, he's not Asian in slightest.
I honestly believe he is going to have a skill set based on sand, one skillset based on fire & brimstone spells, and a summon skill set (Think Djinni's, scarabs, scorpions, vipers). It only makes sense because they are releasing the desert act.
He will be a mid range to short range fighter/caster (emphasis on fighter) to fill in one of the gaps in play that are left. WD is a middle to long range caster/fighter (emphasis on caster), Wizard is a long range caster, and Barb is a short range fighter. Which leaves the mid to long range fighter as a ranger/thrown weapon class.
I am actually really excited about the Monk class. It seems that they're doing it right, from what I'm seeing and hearing. Here's for hoping for EPIC!

IDK
To me the Monk looks more Chinese while the wizard looks more Korean.
So maybe around the same area as the wizard?

Shit, is that a new cinematic I see? Damnit, I should've gone to Blizzcon..
I hear you on that!
My only conundrum is whether or not to go fists or staves.
