quite right, that what i liked about the Diablo series and the BG series, great Single player game that happened to have multiplayer, and was free. Hell i still play Diablo, and BG I, i dont care that they are what 10 years old now.
Hell yeah, Diablo was so dark, eerie, creey and gothic and claustrophobic, d2 was mostly huge open fields, deserts and snow covered tundra. but still a good game, i hope d3, drawns more from d1 in terms of stage design.
sure as hell was.
if diablo 3 was a remake of diablo I, but in 3d, i would like it more than anything new and experimental. Someone should remake diablo 1 in 3d, just like total annihilation was remade in 3d as "ta spring"
total annihilation ---> ta spring ---> supreme commander
diablo ---> diablo 3d remake ---> diablo 3
See! i told u it probably be on console...but i also heard about it going on the computer
Yes you did, but there is still little to no proof that any title coming up will make it to any platform game. Blizzard was on the table before for a platform designed game called, "Starcraft Ghost."
The game was, "supposidly" postponed indefinitely. Insider information- ..Starcraft Ghost was haulted after programmers back themselves into a corner with a faulty engine. The project was later continued from scratch by a partially new development team.
In 2006, Blizzard announced that it would be indefinitely be postponed.
This project was placed on the burner but is not out of the minds of personnel.
Let me point out that Wikipedia has the best info for stuff. =D
"On May 16, 2005, Blizzard Entertainment acquired Swingin' Ape Studios." - Which means Blizzard reowns everything that was contracted out to Starcraft Ghost. What happens when you give a project you want done to someone else and it doesn't get done?
I know what I do, I do it myself.
I have the highest hopes for Diablo 3 like the rest of you.
But you might be getting a Console MMO FPS with Single Player and Multiplayer, where you can level your character for certs. Might be space based. Who knows!?

Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present. They actually tried to imply the point that it is not Starcraft.. ((Am I the only one who sees that))
he said Regard at present, meaning he will lose his job if he mentions it. that statement would only make me think its going to be starcraft.

Exacly.
I highly doubt that they will be announcing two titles though. The only thing that will do is divide people's currently undivided attention away from the focus of things. One game now, then wait a few months, then the next one at Blizzcon/E3. That's what I'm thinking.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

how great would it be though if they announce diablo3 next month and then show is a trailer of what the gameplay looks like at blizzcon? or maybe even a demo! there would be a tent in my pants......
I wouldn't be surprised if some new Blizzard game was on console, but I doubt they'd put anything on any console except 360. I mean, think, the've always made PC games, so the main console they'd be interested in would probably be one that allows for players to play vs PC players (a functionality that Microsoft is adding soon). I'm all but sure it will be Diablo3 they announce, despite it being Korea, because of all the hassle they've gone through in developing it over the last four years. I think they've finally finished. But in any case, if it's on console, I trust Blizz to make it badass. I would prefer a PC game, but I look at it this way: Blizzard has come out with 7 games and 6 expansion packs in the last decade or so. ALL of them have been so incredibly awesome that people lose bowel control upon first seeing them. Ever since WC1 all of their games have owned. So if Blizzard is trying something new, it's gonna kick some serious ass.
Oh man, there would be like some massive disbelieve if it was D3, people would freak out and faint of excitement (not me, but some people will for sure)
I know what you mean, I loved D2 but D1 was really the best in terms of character customizability. I would hope that if D3 does turn out to be an MMO that they would do a class system similar to original Diablo, 'cause that would be an interesting way to do things. At the same time, I don't think they're going to make the next Diablo installment an MMO so other systems could still work.
Based on what they've done in the past, there'll probably be a completely new set of classes to pick from, but if they also decide to implement a progression system more like D1, that would kick ass.
In response to those who have lost faith that it will be Diablo 3, remember that Blizzard has disclosed info to gaming steve, and that the game has not only been in production, but that they started rumor mongering with the job postings back a year or two ago. With all that taken into consideration, it seems that announcing anything BUT D3 would be unlikely at best.
However, the fact that it's in Korea still raises the SC2 issues, and I think that combining six years of inactivity while they worked on WoW stuff and the fact that we've now had conflicting information regarding what game is likely to be released indicates more than one announcement. A dual title release would be perfect in terms of getting Blizzard back on track with creating other titles.
Remember also that Blizzard stated they had 4 projects they were working on, one of which would be announced in 2007. So what they could be doing is announcing both titles, but while D3 has been being worked on for a while and could release this year or early next, they could announce SC2 as having begun and give a release date somtime in the END of 2008.
But now my post is really long, so I'll stop typing heh.
*Edit* I forgot, but don't forget the biggest thing yet. Diablo has had a lot of trademark activity in the last 2 years. There has been nothing like that for SC2, and they would do that BEFORE a release. So if they're announcing anything but something WoW related it HAS to be D3 since that's the only thing they've done trademark stuff for recently. HAH! So it has to be D3.
Dude didnt you read the statement that Blizzard made??
They said, they do plan to revisit SC universe in some point in the future, but they dont have anything new to announce dealing with SC at present. Its an implication that it will not be SC related. DUh, people dont seem to see what Blizzard is saying in that statement.

We've already dealt with that in several posts throughout this thread. It does not in any way guarantee that SC2 is not announced.

I agree that the music in Diablo I was incredibly scary. I would like to see more of that music in Diablo III. Deep down inside I believe it will be SC2 that will be announced first, but my Diablo side wants Diablo III to be released, now. :-)

I know what they said. I wouldn't respond to something I have no idea about. But Doppel said it best. They said it would be announced later, basically. That later date being 20 days from now. Logically, a Diablo 3 game would seem unlikely, as that would mean that they have released (at least) 2 game sequels for every other game, leaving Starcraft completely neglected.
Muttonchopstradamus says that they will announce an entirely new franchise, or they will announce Starcraft 2.
Hmm, I never even considered it would be a new franchise. If that's the case, I wonder if it would be a magic/fantasy game or sciency spacey game. Or something more akin to a regular Earth setting placed in our current timeline.

My money is on the new product being Starcraft 2.

I do expect a Starcraft game though, even though i dont like it. Even simply cause its gonna be in Korea is reason enough to make u believe it.
