Some body say the monk will replacing paladin, but I want a thing that I havent seen yet : aura !!! A great idea in d2.
Aura bring a cooperative gameplay and it's make many many possibility of build. Seriously I hope that all characters got aura otherwise I want a character for that !!
The fun with aura is : you can mix the skill you want with it. But the real fun is to manage static stats skills with pourcent stat skills, both of them make great result in the end of the game only because of %.
I think as long as it doesn't have a skill like Hammers which only one monster in the game is immune to (or, if it had it, have at least a third of the monsters in the last difficult immune, like the disadvantage with other classes, or severely nerf damage), doesn't have a skill like Smite which can completely destroy any boss easily, and overall lacks the brokenness that made it completely overpowered compared to other characters, I wouldn't mind it.
However, they would have to redo a lot of the Monk stuff or take it out, in my opinion, or they would be too closely related in many areas.

What are you thinking about that ??
Auras were good, but if they're coming back I wouldn't think they HAVE to be for a Paladin esque class. Auras could go to any class. I see Auras as a skill that represents Leadership more than Holiness.
It would be nice to see them back but way more balanced and less game breaking. Plus Blizzard is focusing to make the game more cooperative in Multiplayer. So the Auras would be a good feature to keep.
But I don't think the Paladin is coming back in this release. You could hope for the expansion. I just read in the Blizz Tracker that someone asked "Where's the Paladin?" Bashiok replied "In Diablo 2".
But just like the above poster, they would make a lot of changes to the Paladin and Monk if ever they're releasing it in the expansion. They want every Archetype to be unique. So it may not even be the same as the Paladin of D2. Which I'm expecting a whole lot of complaints by the people who actually loved the D2 Characters. We could all hope they'd come back, but with this new line up. I'd doubt they'd even be the same if ever they do come back.

Actually, that's what the current Character line up is missing. A "leadership" type character. The paladin, though holy, was also a leader. Thus the auras. The Monk, even though he is holy, he doesn't represent the Paladin's leadership abilities. He's more like a holy warrior. Actually much closer to the holy warrior aspect than the Paladin was. I hope Blizz has way less Auras if they're bringing it out. So that it does make it easier to balance out the buffs of each class. Plus a lot easier in groups too. Instead of constantly switching between other auras. You could just use one aura, of course you'll still change for diversity of enemies, but at least its easier.

Actually, I'm kind of against the "leadership" type character. I disliked paladins in Diablo 2 because of this. IMO, the leadership character unbalances gameplay: an aura specced character is in high demand in groups, but is terrible at soloing by himself.
In WoW, there are specific character classes that complement each other: there is a tank, dps, healer, cc, etc. In this setup, some characters don't do well on their own, but function effectively when combined with other specific types of characters.
But that's not true in Diablo. In diablo, each character is supposed to be balanced, and just as capable as any other class in killing monsers solo. At least ideally. But this was not true of the paladin, who was a group oriented character, unlike almost every other class in Diablo 2.
If auras return, I want to see them in every character class, not all lumped together into one. A "leadership" character would only degrade character balance; unless, of course, you want another WoW...
Maybe if the monk will have auras, he will have to damage enemies so the auras will actually work... like when you kill a few enemies your aura is good, then it fades out untill you kill more..... The bonuses the monk gets from his auras should be higher than his party's...

I like that idea, but to add on to it, what if you were not within enemy range, you could charge it. Like charging your aura gauge, or something.
Auras need to be distributed among classes. Giving one class a pack of auras is silly. Probably the most unimaginative skill trees in the game, the 2 aura trees and it only really makes sense to use 1-2, stupid.
Monk replaces paladin. There is no way they're going to have monk, barb, and paladin together. The sword-shield area was taken by barb, the melee spells area by monk, and holy stuff doesn't really need to come back.
I never liked auras, sure it can be fun if you're in a party but no class should ever be hindered by having a tree that's specifically used for co-op.
Said class would have to be made more powerful to make up for the lack of another damage dealing tree.
(The grammar nazi in me took the best of me, sorry)!
I'm desagree with you, the auras never be specifically used for coop... Tha paladin auras is just too useful even when I played solo, I never let my paladin without aura... just 1 skill point help greatly...

It's not true... Paladin soloing is very good (if it's not the best), aura when soloing is just too helpful and even be essential... if you don't take aura, your right click skill will be useless. I don't say paladin is balanced on the contrary...
I can compare paladin's auras with necro's curses... just helpful regardless if your soloing or multiplaying. But it's fun and rewarding to know you help others.

I wanted too, same as Titan quest, each class have auras.

I'm not agree, aura it's not the same thing as the rage of the barb...
If each class have aura, some class will have difficulty to activate his aura.. like sorc or witch doctor...
And if "The bonuses the monk gets from his auras should be higher than his party's..." The aura will be essential because without bonuse's aura, the character will be less powerful. Because, with bonuse's aura he will be more powerful than others... You return with the first problem of auras, too essential.

Yes I'm agree, but I don't care if "holy" will come back or not, I check the stat and the effectivity itself. Holy or not, if all spell are balanced it's alright.
As much as I liked the paladin (being my favorite class). I really doubt the last class is going to be a Paladin and I am content with having the monk.
Well said!
Hopefully we will get something new and refreshing instead of the old 'n dusty!
I've always wanted a desert bandit or something but that's just a distant dream
I'm not flaming what your saying bro, but....
A bandit is not someone I can picture saving the World of Sanctuary from the grip of the Prime Evils.
Bandits don't have anything...special.
The Barb is the Melee king/queen.
The Wizard is the Magic king/queen.
etc etc...
Im having trouble imagining something bad-ass for the Fifth-Character.
It should be something somewhat sinister imo.

Ranger? King of the forest? Then again...maybe not.
I don't remember any class having a sinister background in the previous games...maybe necro, but... well, he had good intentions. Anyways, any chance of having a sinister class probably evaporated when Blizz North left... the current dev team is Warcraft guys now, right?

Good point.
My imagination gets the best of me sometimes
I'll be looking for it, when they hint at what the next class could be.
Although Blizzard is good at keeping things secret, until they want it public. Maybe we will get lucky during an interview.

yea, there are alot of alternatives and blizz knows that. just a few ideas are inspiring presense, exaultation (another source of inspiration) or even... aspect of the whatever... like off the hunter in wow =/

I'm not trying to flame but, i really dont think any sort of bandit or 'robin hood' character would be kool (in any way shape or form), i just dont see anything fun or interesting about that concept. however, from what i'm seeing, we have only been focusing on stereotypes, or maybe a better word is, archetypes. I think maybe blizzard will come out with a totally different character than what we are thinking, something not generic, but new, and probley with a made up name. Maybe with some strange abilities, rather than abilities that have been done in a thousand other games. Though, that would be very difficult, most good ideas have been used, again and again.
Well the hammerdin just downright sucks. It's not even a challenge to play him. It's a skill for the retards that are like "HA, I am an unstoppable force of hammers and there's nothing you can do about it!", if somebody does join my game with a hammerdin and starts being a real arrogant jackass, I will leave.
