The Glaive can be used both as a meele weapon and as a ranged weapon, similar to the javelin in Diablo 2. The Glaive could be used to perform close-range cutting attacks and be thrown, "boomerang-style" into a crowd of enemies and will then return to the user's hand.
The Alchemist uses alchemy to manipulate his surroundings into weapons and other forms, to aid in combat. Alchemy could also be combined with each of his primary weapons to create stronger attacks.
Glaive related skills :
Orbital Magnetic:
Uses Alchemy to modify gravity and magnetic fields, to suspend an equipped glaive in Mid-air. The glaive will then rotate around the caster, damaging anyone standing in the glaives rotational path.
Frost Glaive (passive): If glaive is thrown over a source of water, it will inherit cold damage properties for a duration.
Ricochet Shot: This skill will throw the equipped glaive, but with increased rebounding properties (bounces further off of walls.) Any enemy hit by a glaive rebounded off of something will recieve double damage.
Pure Alchemy skills: Ground-water spout: Uses alchemy on the ground to call up a small area of ground water. (Water fades back into the ground after a duration. See skill: Frost Glaive for skill uses.)
well lemme steal a page from RO, the alc in that game can use a skill to break the armor/wep of his enemy, this is a pure pvp skill in thought, but it can be tweaked to lower def of monsters in single player.
that is a good idea.

"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
i think chucking exploding potions as a skill would have witchdoctors all over sanctuary calling their lawyers over infringement. I'm with you on this though, even though it's came up a few times and i shot it down every single time. Just because i freakin' love the glaive pics.
I don't like the idea of a alchemist filling the pure caster class (IE sorc) but maybe for the melee/caster archtype it could work pretty well. Got any ideas how the alchemy magics could be support based? Kind of like some of the paladin auras?
I quite like the idea of powders being thrown.
Maybe you could throw powders on your friends with steroid like properties
Or alternatively give them all mugs of super-strong coffee!
Maybe a alchemist/enchanter combo or something... could melee with his enchanted weapons and alchemy but could also contribute a good role to the party.

Oh and apples.. I didn't realise if it has been suggested already.
Sorry about that if so. Either way, neat idea methinks.
*raises chin*

the Witch Doctor uses some alchemist abilities. Poisons for once and explosive powders.
Fire Bomb being the grand example.
There will definitely be npc alchemists like Alkor in Diablo 2, though.
Alchemist is a tricky class. Traditionally it is a mage or wizard who speacialises in creating potions and least well known golems and Homuculi. Yes, they are actually said to be able to make these creatures.
Only making golems and potions would make them a very limited class in what they are able to do. You would need to borrow some more ideas from some other class to pad them out as bit more. Or borrow ideas from say Full Metal Alchemist. In which characters, do what Alchemist are said to do, turn one thing into another through the use of well Alchemy.
It was Alchemists after all who tried to turn lead into gold, and lusted after the fabled Philosopher's Stone. That magical item that would allow them to bypass the law that which all alchemy is bound by. Equivalent exchange. It is Alchemy's first law. And not just in Full metal Alchemist.
The class is viable, but it needs some heavy work. Turning mounds of earth into a golem is plausible and it makes more sense for an Alchemist to do that than a necromancer. Like wise for creating golem out of suit of armor or a weapon.
But all this is pretty much mirrored by the Witch Doctor, so you won't get both. Perhaps we may yet see an Alchemist in a further installment or side series.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I too think he will have some Alchemic skills. If the class has anything in common with it's namesake, then yes, he would have some alchemy abilities. Be they the ability to create concoctions or animating inanimate objects.

The Alchemist's primary weapons are Throwing-Glaives and Bows.

Craft Ballista:
Uses alchemy to create a ballista from materials in the ground. The ballista is stationary and the creator can fire arrows from it whenever he chooses. The ballista stays only for a duration of time and has a set number of arrows, which increases by skill level. To be continued........
I'll update this page, but thats the general Idea.
this kind of alchemist hasnt been done before...im happy to see that.
does this alc use potions as a weapon also? its very skill intensive, remember to make low lvl skills or it wont be viable!
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
Good question, I'm not sure if i'll include potions yet.
Heck, let it have different set of skill, one for transmutation of the element, and one set of skill for purely potion mixing.
that is a good idea.
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
could be fun to play .. as been said maybe add some more inventive skills and he would be awesome
the concept art is not how i had imagined him tough .. but its your class
Well, technically an alchemist would have to use some form of weapon. I certaintly don't picture an alchemist as a brute-force melee fighter.
I could find a better concept-art for him though. Maybe one that doesn't look so ranger-esque. A gritty trench-coat perhaps?
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
Chucking exploding potion ftw!
That would be sweet. I'd love a fulminating potion that was effective beyond level 8.

I think there is a thread on this though.
