Why do people keep trying to make everyone be internet serious in this thread? It's not as if Blizz is watching this like a hawk, looking for new ideas, and if they see someone having fun they'll say "Oh, these guys aren't taking it seriously! There goes our last well-spring of ideas, better just stop working on the game altogether!"

It's a thread where we were asked to use our imagination to come up with some fantastic (used in the literal sense) ideas for boss-kill death animations. Of course there'll be some silly answers. And seeing as no one really seems to read what's gone before, of course there'll be repetitions of "The boss decaptitates (sic) you", "the boss possesses your friends" and "the boss impales you".

All that said my suggestion was entirely serious.

I agree. I think we need a mod to come through here and delete all the posts that aren't a boss death, or simply dumb posts meant to be funny, including this post.

I wholeheartedly agree. God forbid we should have fun or seek to entertain on the internet.

The demon slams you against a wall, all but knocking the life out of you. You slide slowly down the stone, slump at the bottom, gaze unfocused as the beast slowly walks over to you, the claws on his feet quietly clicking against the unpolished granite of the dungeon floor.
As he reaches you, you try to look up, to make one last stand, but your limbs won't respond to your mind's frantic orders, tendons snap and muscles convulse as you try to force arms that are already dead to lift a weapon that you know won't be able to save you.

The demon stops before you, reaches out a clawed hand to tilt your head back, almost tenderly, almost maternal. Thoughts of your mother rush into your slowly dying brain. Her incessant, ignored hopes for your future come filtering up from the depths of your memory.

What if you had followed her advice, instead of becoming a warrior? What if you'd put aside the sword, ignored the axe, and allowed your mother's years of wisdom to guide your future?

Your gaze moves, slowly, unwillingly but out of your control, and meets the burning pits where the demon's eyes should be.

Something happens, the world around you changes.

Is it a gesture of mercy, a gift? Is it one last torture? Is it simply a curious whim?

The demon shows you what could have been.

There's a flash, and it's around you. You've taken your mother's advice. Books sit before you, not battle tactics, but the secrets of medicine. You learn, swiftly. You're good at this. Very good. You can feel the knowledge not sinking into your brain but flowing. You know this. This is right.

Another flash, and on your hat, where once a heavy steel helmet sat, bestowing upon you otherworldly strength, sits a small black cap, a square on top, a swinging tassel. Draped around is a black cloak, not heavy, enchanted leather and chain, black from dirt and the long-dried blood of foes, but simple black cloth. It suits you. You're graduating, head of the class.

Once more a flash, and you're in a white building, the black cloak replaced with something white, more practical. Around your neck there is no charm of strength, but a stethoscope. You've made it. You're a doctor. You see your daily rounds sped up, see the people smile to see you. You help them, you cure them. You're very, very good at your job. Your colleagues smile to see you, a smile filled with respect and admiration. You feel warm in the glow of their affection.

One last flash, and you're old. You sit in a comfortable chair, not a nursing home, but an extremely well-appointed manor home. You need no one to look after you, a lifetime of healthy, hard, cleansing work has left you well in control of your body and mind. You smoke a cigar, a gift from a man who's daughter you saved. Around you are photos of friends, family. On the wall are framed certificates, awards you've received for astonishing work you achieved in your life. You look around, you smile. You are content.

    It melts away, dissolves.
You're back in your broken body, gazing at the demon before you, blood dripping from his open mouth onto your filthy armour, blending with the blood of thousands of others, one more drop of pain onto an outfit made to ease the causing of it.
The house, the family, the awards, the knowledge, the success.
    The hospital.
    The doctor.
    All are gone.
    All have vanished.

    But the smile remains.
You look away from the demon as he raises one clawed hand to end your all-to-short life. You gaze at a shrine just out of reach, red ichor overflowing from it's bowl: the only healing you've ever known. You straighten the lapel of an imaginary white coat, shrug your shoulders slightly to make the imaginary stethoscope sit a little more comfortable.
You turn your face to the cool wall behind you, a small comfort, here at the end.
You whisper into the stone, very softly, through the blood, the sweat. Through that smile, still lingering on your lips.

"I could have helped people. I would have worked miracles."

    The beast's hand descends, swiftly.

    You die.

why has my awesome picture been removed twice now? what's going on?
Out of sheer spite and rebelliousness, here it is again:

EDIT: Wait, not only my picture, but also the post quoting and, more importantly, lavishing praise on it, taken out? Why?

I freaking loved charms. And I think it would be cool if you combined the special inventory space idea with the stackable idea. For example: 2 inventory slots for charms, 5 stackable. Perhaps two different types of charms.
    Actually scrap that.
Make charms more powerful and give three slots dedicated to them. Have them show up on the model like trophies in WAR. Give them rares and uniques. That would be awesome. Charm with +3 to werewolf anyone? The Wolfbarb could be so much more powerful.

the geomancer was a lame hero in dota its is still gunna be a lame hero in d3. Dota and Diablo are 2 different things.

You just read the title and last sentence of the first post in this thread, and then replied didn't you?
    You did.
I think honestly though? It's not your bizarre need to post something, anything, anywhere you can, regardless of whether you have any idea of what you're replying to, that I find most amusing.
It's your wonderful ability to combine an argument and the most obviously valid response to it in the one post.
It should save everyone a lot of work, so thankyou.

I'm imagining that most of his damage would be physical, seeing as Diablo's never had an 'earth' element.
In essence, that's what he is: a physical mage. Not an elemental mage focusing on one element, but a mage utilising the sheer concussive force of the earth. Hence me not agreeing with the 'mages specialise in all elements' argument. Earth is not (in the diablo universe) an element. You have Poison (or disease), Cold, Lightning, Fire and Physical. Necro's (and now probably Witch Doctors) handled poison, mage's took care of cold lightning and fire, and everyone else dished out the physical.
So yes, while the Geomancer does control the element of earth, he's not doing 'earth' damage. He's just smacking folks around with a wall of stone. That's pretty physical.

Actually, I only had trouble coming up with the idea for the last tree. I found coming up with the skills quite easy. There's a little bit of overlap, but that's intentional. The 'of stone' skills do overlap with the other skills, but I imagine the bonuses to be quite small, because the skills cost no mana. For example, Fury of Stone might give +15 damage, where at the same level Stone Weapons is giving +50. The advantage of Fury of Stone is that it's always on and can be on everyone in the party.

    And Black Demon, Magistrate.
    I...
I can't think of a response. I really can't. If you honestly want no innovation in the games you play...
we're just speaking a different language all together. Communication is impossible.

I got so excited when I saw the name for this class. I thought you were suggesting throwing-potions as a viable weapon.

That would be sweet. I'd love a fulminating potion that was effective beyond level 8.

I wrote this all just after my last post, but forgot to post it.

    Ok, let's start with
    Summons
    .
I'm basing this on a bit of a druid archetype, because I always loved the way his summons worked. I'm only going to give you the details on his skills at top-level, because I'm not made of time.

    Mud Golems
    Summon 10-12 mud golems.
These buggers are weak and fast. They're designed to swarm the enemy. Unlike the druid's ravens, they can be hit, and will generally be killed in 1-2 hits. When they die, they turn to a patch of sticky mud, slowing the enemy. The slow stacks, so 12 of these one one enemy is going to render him pretty much immobile for a period of time.

    Lava Hounds
    Summon 2-3 lava hounds.
These are also fast, not as fast as the muddies, but pretty fast. They can take more of a pounding than the muddies, and they do brilliant damage to anything that hits them, what with being made out of molten rock. They've also got a bit of immolation damage. The damage they actually deal, when they strike, is minimal. Probably similar to the muddikins. They explode on death, doing a fair bit of fire damage. (Yes, yes I know they're like the WD's summons. They're better though, because they're made of lava)

    Rock Golem
    Summon 1 rock golem.
This bastard is big. Like a giant from WCIII.

He can take masssivve damage, and deals out a fair bit as he swings his rock-chunk-fists around. His hits have a chance to stun.

    Giant Golem
    Summon 1 Giant Golem
This guy is so big he can't even get out of the ground properly.
He's stuck in the ground from the waist down, leaving him unable to move. He's huge though. We're talking seige-beast huge. He's got a pretty good reach on him, and he can wail around with his hero-sized fists, doing epic damage. He falls back into the ground after a time, pulled back under by his own weight.

Ok, those are the four basic summons. On top of them, I guess you'd have

    Summon Mastery
    It's a bit of a cop-out, I know, but it's always nice to have.

I was also thinking about a couple of skills in this tree such as Enhanced Damage, Enhanced Defence, Fire Damage or similar. Meaning you can customise your summons, to an extent, making them more durable, more powerful, or a mix of the two. Obviously you wouldn't be able to enhance the damage of the Giant Golem or the defence of the Rock Golem tooo much, because they could get ridiculous real quick.

That's the summoning tree, more or less. No ranged attackers in there, I know. I guess you could swap the lava hounds out for Rock Throwers or similar, but I sort of like the lack of ranged support.

Actually now that I think about it I really like Rock Throwers. I might put them in if I revise this.

    Ok next tree.

    Target Magicz
This is the stuff that would make me totally want to play this class. This is the stuff that would have awesome animations.

    Hurl Stone
Geomancer summons a large stone and hurls it at his enemies. Does damage. Probably comparable to fire bolt, maybe a little bit less.

    Avalanche
Geomancer summons a flurry of boulders and smaller rocks, smashing enemies in his path.
Essentially a few of the stones from the previous skill, along with some smaller rocks doing less damage. AOE attack.

    Ground Ripple
The ground ripples beneath your enemy's feet, slowing them. Just a slow. Maybe a lack of accuracy too.

    Rock Wave
A wave of rock rises from the ground and sweeps through the target location, knocking enemies asunder. Sweet animation, good damage.

    Swallow
The ground opens up and swallows the target enemy. Does some damage and spits them back out after a short time.

    Hurl Boulder
A massive stone smashes through your enemies. Sweet damage, bit of AOE.

    Pit
The level-up of Swallow. Makes it an AOE attack, grabs more enemies. Does more damage, lasts longer.

    Stone Rider
A spit of stone lifts you up and carries you to the target location, doing damage along the way. Like leap attack, but no damage on landing.

    Stone Rain
Stones fall on a target location. Alright damage, great AOE. shortish duration.

    Earthquake
There's an earthquake at the target location. Slows enemies, drops their accuracy, does a fair bit of damage.

    Epicentre
This is a partner skill to Earthquake. Doesn't need to be maxed, if you want to focus on Hurl Boulder or something instead.
It adds a second earthquake, that occurs slightly after the first one. Points in this skill increase the intensity of the epicentre. Feasibly, if you maxed this and only put one point in earthquake, you could have an epicentre more powerful than the initial quake. Maxing both of these would give you epic damage.

    Personal Magixzzzxks

Now I had some trouble with this last tree. I thought of doing what Horny did, which is a great idea, and making him a hybrid class, but the challenge was to making him a caster, so I decided to go with more magix. These all affect you personally, and your party. Some are passives.

    Love of Stone
Whenever the Geomancer is standing on stone or earth (not grass or... water) he gains increased health regen.

    Fury of Stone
Whenever the Geo's on stone or earth he gains enhanced damage.

    Protection of Stone
Enhanced Defence on stone or earth.

You can only have one of those skills active at once. Apart from that, they're passive.

    Stone Roots
The geomancers feet become rooted to the ground. He loses some movement speed, but cannot be knocked back or displaced.

    Stone Skin
Geo's skin takes on some of the properties of stone. Enhaced defence, sweet look. Toggled active. Drains some mana while active.

    Statue
The geomancer is made out of rock. Can't attack, can't move and can't be hurt. Duration skill.

    Stone Shield
Stones spin around Geo, dealing damage to any enemy that comes close.
Like Hurricane, smaller radius, more damage.
The idea is that nothing can get in to touch you. Except for ranged attackers.

    Friendship of Stone (Passive)
Makes the other "Of Stone" skills apply to your party. Radius goes up with levels.

    Stone Weapons
Whatever weapon the Geomancer is using get's enhanced damage and becomes a club-type weapon for a number of attacks. Number and damage goes up with level.

    Stone Retaliation (Passive)
Any enemy that attacks the Geomancer has a small chance to be turned to stone for a little while.

    I'd play him.

Oh. Oh I am so going to come up with 30 unique skills.
    I'll show you.
    I'll show you all.

On a side note: The necromancer dealt with the undead, bones and poison, and curses. Curses and poison don't really sit well in a 'death mage', apart from the fact that the kill things. So do knives.
Yet he was still a necromancer, because his main focus was death. His theme was death. It was his thing. It was what he did.

    Yeah, 30 spells, coming up.

    You are ignoring
    everything
    I say.

Let me just point out you not listening:

    This is you:
The Necromancer had vastly different types of Golem one was fire, one was made of Clay.

    This is me:
    CLAY FIRE STONE GOLEMS

ok so I paraphrased my posts. You get the point.

    Iron is a metal.
If he can use metals that are found in the earth (which my geomancer can't) then he can feasibly control fire and water as well as stone. Hey, he can control all life since it's all carbon-based, and there's a whole lot of carbon in the earth.

Geo literally just means "ground". So "Magic of the Ground" could quite easily encompass fire.
