How was Diablo defeated by humans despite the fact that he is the most powerful being in Diablo universe(his universe)? We know that it was his will to get a strong body at first (referring to diablo I's end). But in Diablo II he was really defeated.
Even Inarius in his world afraid to encounter Diablo.I think it's silly humans can defeat Diablo.I hope in DIII we will get help of some greater powers to defeat Diablo.

The nephalem (aka humans) have the potential to be more powerful than demons and angels, which is why the Sin War (war to take over Sanctuary) has gone on for so long.
It does seem kind of silly though that humans can defeat someone like Diablo, but we never truly defeat him. Recently one of the devs said that 'defeating' the Three in Diablo II was just the tip of the iceberg.
And also remember that angels and demons lose much of their power while on Sanctuary.
It might be that the hero of the game developed some of the powers of the Nephalem, just like Uldyssian did back in the Sin War. We have no idea who the characters we play are, and it could be possible that they are not just skilled humans, but actually possess some extraordinary magical talent as well.

**WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS FROM THE SIN WAR TRILOGY BELOW**
In the books Uldyssian manages to change the very structure of the worldstone to, what I belive, the Nephalems advantage. Now looking at the diablo game when 3000 years have passed shouldn't all humans be equipped with the powers of the Nephalem? When reading forums it feels like everyone still looks at the worldstone as something that drains away the power of the Nephalem? Or is it something that I have missed in some other Lore?
Well that is sort of an unanswered question. Perhaps the "reset" of Sanctuary reset the Worldstone; perhaps the change would come about very slowly; perhaps the Worldstone was tampered with after Uldyssian did what he did.

okay here is my question-
in a lore book i read Heaven and Hell were always evenly matched. so how did the Angels match the Demons if the Demons have larger numbers+the Seven Evils? Did the Angles have like a super powerful God dude or something? Is the Angiris Counsel a huge step up in power than an Arch-Angel?

There is no "God" no, but yes the Angiris Council is far more powerful than regular angels and arch angels is my understanding.
I think what the High Heavens lacks in numbers it makes up for in actual power. Of course, although we've never seen many angels, that doesn't mean that there aren't just as many in Heaven as demons are in Hell. And, perhaps the Angiris Council is the "heavenly" counterpart to the Seven Evils?

The angels are quite a few more than one may think, which is clearly revealed in The Sin War. My explanation containts spoilers from the books, so read with care.
At the end of The Veiled Prophet, a massive battle is inisiated between Heaven and Hell in Sanctuary, and the angels are just as many as the demons. The reason we never see this is because the angels never interfere, thus we just encounter a few powerful angels, when they are in fact very many.
The Angiris Council can also be seen as the equivalent of the Three and perhaps the four Lesser Evils.

Hello and greetings to Diablo Fans I'm back, not that anyone would remember me. (Going by LordArreat15 on SoL) Anyway sorry if this may been repeated already but I'm going to ask. If this thread does need to move else where please do. I just add this here too, Why isn't there a Diablo Fan Fiction section?
Would Mendeln aka Kalan be consider one of the newer generation of Nephalem in his own right? Him being the lone surviving Edyrem with the third coming of the Naphalem for D3 and beyond. Is Uldyssian the true God-Naphalem of Sanctuary and alive to lead Sanctuary once again?
Could the Necromancer underground city may lie in the jungles of Kehjistan? Rathma and Kalan went there to study the hidden powers that lie there and it does seem the only place that necromancer could hidden from the rest of Sanctuary.
Could had Kabraxis make a replacement or one of the chief Evils? Before the Black Road event. And to add couldn't other archdemons take the mantel of Evil temporary?
Diablo's return to Sanctuary, doesn't it sound like Lilths's return in the Sin War novel Scale of the Serpent? Could the Tristram cathedral site been built upon on the the 'ley line' points of reality as Lilith did, so did Diablo only that his return was notice by Sanctuary.
When the 'Final Day' come and man will fight the armies of Demons and Angels at Arreat, it would mean the final battle will take place at Arreat Crater?
Are there any other reference to the Barbarian Horde led by Iceclaw aka Kabraxis in the Diablo games/manuals aside from the Black Road novel?
In the version I read they called them" Nexus points"... I would argue that nearly all the important areas, magical areas or boss areas in Sanctuary are nexus points. From what I remember they're places of great power where the dimension is 'pinned down', this power can be harnessed and portals are usually (or more easily?) created at these points.
Tal Rasha's burial chamber, Tristram Cathedral and Mephistos Temple of light / Guardian tower place were most likely Nexus points (Perhaps thats just my opinion, but wouldn't it make sense that the Horadim build things on these points?)
Well firstly lets move this to the Ask Lore Questions Here thread.

This really isn't the right place to ask that, sorry - people who answer lore questions aren't necessarily the people who organise the forum.

Mendeln is considered as the only surviving Edryem, yes. Which yes, Edryem by definition is a newer generation of Nephalem (though not second generation - the second generation of Nephalem would be ones like Rathma's offspring, which were born aaages ago). The 'third coming' of the Nephalem are pretty much everyone on sanctuary that has special powers (except mages, who use magic with actual spells rather than just a will to do something). This includes the classes we get to play as in Diablo and DII, and continuing on to DIII. Since the worldstone was altered 3000 years ago, humans have slowly been regaining their 'birthright' powers, and so have had years to develop them into different disciplines and types (classes).
We don't know what really ended up with Uldyssian. He's not really 'alive' anymore, I don't think. His spirit kind of merged with Sanctuary, so I doubt we would really see him. Maybe he will act as a guardian, and maybe appear as some sort of apparition to give advice, but I doubt it. His story has come and gone, its what he did for Sanctuary 3000 years ago that matters.

Yes.

Maybe. Its hard to say how Blizzard will go about this, but its possible.

Sounds like it, yes, but its not. Lilith was imprisoned in the void, while Diablo was killed and therefore sent "back to the abyss that spawned him". See here for further abyss/void explanation.
When the 'Final Day' come and man will fight the armies of Demons and Angels at Arreat, it would mean the final battle will take place at Arreat Crater?

Don't laugh at me, I haven't read the books yet, but I'm working on it!
I just want to know: Who were the Edyrem?
They are the "next-generation" nephalem. Basically, Uldyssian awakens magic powers within regular people in the books, and they collectively become known as the Edyrem. Humans are descendants of the Nephalem who've had their powers successively diminished over generations, but the Edyrem are the turning point, as they again unlock the potential that mankind has.
I do not however recall what Edyrem stands for, but it has some meaning.

Is there a possibility that we may encounter some of them in Diablo III?
Well, not really. It happened a long time ago, and... well, there is another issue with actually meeting them. It's kind of a Sin War spoiler though

What sort of powers did the Edyrem have?
All sorts. I don't remember any specific powers, but they wre quite like wizards with wide differences in what they could do. And obviously some were more powerful than others.

[spoil]Actually, the entire event of the Sin War is undone by Heaven and Hell combined, meaning Uldyssian's adventure nisn't historically recorded anywhere, because it never happened, and thus no edyrem ever existed except for one. Mendeln is the only Edyrem to remember, so if we meet him, then yes.[/spoil]

Which book speaks of the Edyrem?
Named in Scales of the Serpent chapter 5. Simply called Uldyssian's followers before being named the Edyrem, their true name Naphalem left a "bitter taste" in Uldyssian's mouth.

A ancient word that means "those who have seen" from the Torajians. Also in Scales of the Serpent chapter 5.
