Here is my very own fan-made map of Sanctuary that includes most of the locations that we have ever heard about in the Diablo series (manuals and novels included). I designed it myself using Solomir's cartography.
Its about 6 x A4 pieces big. It was originally drawn up from the DII manual's map, but then just after it was nearly finished Blizzard released their own updated map. So of course I then had to go back and fix my map to reflect the current state of Sanctuary with the Worldstone's destruction and everything. But that is also why the shape of the map is a little different. But don't blame me, blame those inaccurate scribes at Blizzard :P.
And as more information gets released (like when the game finally comes out), I'll continue to update the map accordingly.
Lol, I wish I was working at Blizzard. I don't remember how long it took exactly, I slowly did it bit by bit over a long period of time. But it sure was fun, and its handy having it in real life too.
On the artistic side, there's no doubt it looks amazing, an extraordinary talent put into a very good use.
On the pragmatic side, please tell me you have a blank version of it, must more information is soon to come, not to mention it needs a lot of fixing.

Thanks Acid, but as it is I know I still have a lot of work to do to get up to Blizzard's standards. And hey, thats what I'm doing, practicing practicing practicing.

No, I don't have a blank version of it, but its just as easy to edit it like this anyway. I've already made a lot of seemless edits to that map. I'll talk to you on msn about the fixes then.
Wow that IS confusing. But its okay, its there. Way at the bottom, in ordinary font, are the words "Save file to your PC: click here". Click on the 'click here'. I hate those sites, they always make the ads massive and the download link small and insignificant.
i like it a lot. what program did you use to make it? hand drawn then made over in illustrator?

Yeah, I hand drew it, scanned it 11 times (6 scans of A4 plus 5 for overlapping), then put it all together in photoshop. The background was made by hand too (tea-staining).

very nice. i figured something like tea-staining would be used. it's much more fun/easier to use inks and paints etc then scan the image into photoshop than having to find ways to achieve the same effect in the program. plus it makes me feel closer to my work.
if you really want to go over the top, you could burn the edges a little bit or use dye/coloring for fake blood stains. ahh reminds me of a history project i made once...

Yeah, the edges are kind of lacking in the image. I might fix them on the next edition of the map when I update some of the information that Solomir will give me. Except, I don't think I'll burn the edges. I dunno, burning has never really worked out for me. I might, however, sandpaper the edges to really roughen them up. But fake blood stains are a great idea. Or at least some sort of stains, whether it be drops of tea, ink or blood.

Wow, I just started reading the books (archive) and usually there is a map at the beginning to show where everything is, but there isn't. So I went online to look for a map better than the one on the DIII website. I couldn't find one so I came here and I was about to ask for one, when I saw this.
I am very impressed, not only is it gorgeous, but it is very detailed. Well done.
I applaud you. great work needless to say no?
detailed, and got the classic diablo touch. I'm not knowledged with the lore that much, planning on reading the books, but is it possible that Sanctuary will expand world-wise due to the third installment of diablo, or will we "only" be able to play areas we heard of but never seen? Are the world of sanctuary definite yet?
This seems to be the entire world; however that never stopped Blizzard. Kalimdor just "magically" appeared in WC3, and so did places like Northrend, the Maelstrom, some troll islands etc. it might expand for all we know.
But I think this is the definitive map of D3

also, what is the name of the sorcerers homeland?
They don't have a homeland, they're more of a clan/group and not a people, just like the assassins and necromancers
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Maybe you be lead producer with the Diablo comics that I'm sure Blizzard would be interested in doing.
That'd would be sweet. Your art style is different than the WoW or SC comics, but it feels more gritty and dark, like Diablo should feel.
