Now where did it say he was corrupted? Bad yes, but under the influence of Hell? Then again the Black Soulstone seems to be related to him, and if we go with the theory that Diablo hid it somewhere, that doesn't leave room for any other assumption.
Right corruption is always a weird term. I didn't necessarily mean he was... influenced directly by them he pretty much gave in from what I heard.
@Dauroth you know thats a damn good point. Andariel's feminine aspects. Also there are parts reminiscent of other evils. I think he has blades on his forearms sort of like Duriel?

I just love what Blizzard is doing with the story of D3. It feels dark...literally.
I remember reading the books and wondering what it'd be like to immerse myself in such a Universe. And there you have it...the game.
The best part has been the sheer amount of twists and turns in the plot so far. And from what we've had till now, D3 is gonna be a heck of a notch above the previous two.

Exactly! Not to mention his famous shoulder mouths, and four arms.
Damn, it's so plausible. No, it can't be, I wanted to wait until I played the game. WHY, LORD, WHY DID I CLICK THIS THREAD?!?!
If this happens to be true, I'll hunt you down for ruining the story for me <_<
And speaking of Andariel and Duriel, when someone asked about them during the Q&A, Metzen said: I wouldn't leave them lying around. They're dangerous! So why not absorb their asses to gain more power.
Interesting... On a fundamental level I like this theory more as it doesn't require the awkward "yet again" standard possession of some human. On the other hand, we lose some strength of the supporting reasoning provided by the cinematic and the connection with Leah that it brings. And if the Three were merged through the use of the soulstones, how could the same happen with Andariel/Duriel?

Angels were born from the remnants of Anu (presumably the divided, diamond warrior version), so perhaps the black soulstone is the remnants of Tathamet. The Black Abyss is said to be where demons come from and where they go when they die. If the Black Abyss is where demons come from, perhaps it is the demonic equivalent (of sorts) to the Crystal Arch.
Thus, when all the Great Evils died, they went to The Black Abyss within the Black Soulstone; which now holds all their power.
Obviously there are a lot of leaps and guesses in this, and a few flaws (like the new creation story claiming that the Great Evils came from the heads of Tathamet, not The Black Abyss).
I thought of it but yeah the new lore story says they're the heads, but it may be talking about a black abyss that spawned Tathamet. We just know Anu cast out his evil, we don't know exactly where and when Tathamet formed.
The Strings related to Diablo also support Dauroth's Theory:
Diablo_CurseOfAnguish_name Curse Of Anguish
Diablo_CurseOfDestruction_name Curse Of Destruction
Diablo_CurseOfHate_name Curse Of Hate
Diablo_CurseOfPain_name Curse Of Pain
Just Wondering why there is no "curse of lies" or "curse of sin". Maybe everything won't go like Diablo planned.
I had been looking for those! Couldn't find them again. I'll add them to the opening post too.

Thats a pretty huge confirmation about whats going to happen. I hate knowing this, yet at the same time i realise that i know nothing about how, when or why this happens. I love how we know so much, yet still have no idea about whats actually going on. As the old saying goes: "It's not the destination, but the journey to get there thats important". That includes all this speculation, i want more, im an addict
True, (speculation!) but it could be that Diablo needs Leah, who has that little fraction of Diablo in herself, to rise above the other evils and become the dominative power of this "Amalgam of Evil". And Leah does this by shoving the stone in her chest (speculation!).
What with all of this speculation about where the Black Soulstone is going to get shoved, I thought I'd point something out.
Look, again, at the "soulstones" from Diablo II.
Then look...again...at the "Black Soulstone", which in the cine is sitting on the table before Leah like the world's ugliest paperweight.
Notice how big that thing is?
It's big enough to pulverize the human head, and I don't believe a bra size exists that can accommodate it.
Perhaps the function of this particular "soulstone" might be somewhat different than the ones we've seen previously? Just wondering.
Well all this equates to a Diabaalphisto. So I hope before we fight Diabaalphisto, we get to fight Diablo in his original form full power before Diabaalphisto(doubt it though ). Maybe they will save Diabaalphisto for the expansion??? hopefully?? DIABAALPHISTO!

"The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and all of Creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell."
I don't think Cain has anything to do with Leah being possessed. People have become corrupt before without much interference, like Leoric, Leah's grandfather. I think she either puts the soulstone in herself, or someone else does.
Seems like a nice spot for the black soulstone to fit on her chest. Not sure she stays possessed though, maybe someone steals the stone afterwards and she's just undead or something.
Yeah but Deckard Cain is the last Horadrim. If its "The End Of the Horadrim", that means the end of Cain.
Cain dies in ACT 2, don't ask me how, don't ask me why. I just know and cannot say who told me. This is something someone blurted out at blizzcon in a small party of people talking. This is why they will NOT release more content then what they have already. Please, no flaming, just repeating what I heard from blizzard employees.

Yeah, but I heard it was Belial who did the aforementioned blurting. You believe him?
Just teasing you. That is an interesting development, I'll have to go back and see where Act 2 is set again. If it turns out to be true there must be a very significant reason for it.
Leah serves as an anchor for diablo in sanctuary. Didn't they say at blizzcon that adria is already dead and we would find how in d3 .
I am imagining the triune is responsible considering they are the ones who grab the human that fell in the star from the heavens. Skeleton king tells you that after you beat him.
as far as cain dying...it would make sense : In the black soulstone video, Leah goes "what am i supposed to see uncle...". Meaning kinda he is not here anymore? Meaning she's left alone to decypher the mysteries of the black soulstone. Maybe i am just imagining things.
1. Could it be possible Adria becomes Diablo in the betrayal? I don't remember a confirmation that Adria is dead, and she could be assisting the Hells to become Diablo or at least be serving him by betraying Azmodan. She did have relations with a former Diablo after all.
2. My own speculation: The original Soulstones are made out of pieces of the Crystal Arch, not the Worldstone.

Fetlock is Azmodan's codename so Act 3 I guess.
Completely missed this line.
