Equal While Being different, eh? i like that, i always thought that Archangels (Angiris Council) Are equal by rank and ability, but were different
I think there is probably slight differences in power. (though I could be wrong)
I think they all just agree to get along and vote on things because if one decided to go rogue and do whatever it wanted they'd get slammed by the other four.
Imperius: Against survival of Sanctuary.
Auriel: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
Itherael: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
Tyrael: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
Malthael: Null
So in essence it was 3 for the survival of Sanctuary, 1 for it's destruction, and 1 undecided/null.
Yes. I stand corrected from the counts I have said earlier in these lore threads. I forgot that they were worried it would end 2-2-1, and the tie would go to destruction.
I pretty much like this theory. After seeing all of the artworks on the official site, I'm almost 100% sure that the meteor is a falling angel. We are almost certain that the angel is in a cathedral or church. In the cinematic, the meteor is falling near the unknown girl and the cathedral. Finally, take a look at the image in the attachment. The meteor is crashing in a house or something like that (maybe a cathedral???).
I believe it's Imperius... but I can still be wrong.
this may be turning into a Sanctuary vs hell vs heaven.
And im happy with that, the humans and sanctuary are becoming the true deciding factor in the war, and both sides may not even win.
Maybe Sanctuary will somehow succeed in cutting themselves off from all interference from Heaven AND Hell.
(kind of a stretch here)
If Diablo relates to the real world in any way, that would explain the lack of strange happenings now a days compared to what was said and supposed to of happened back then.
i think the whole ending to the whole series may be santurary being the winner in all of this, or portecting itslef or ending the war.
I don't think Sanctuary can really WIN against the Heavens and the endless hordes of hell, but I think possibly it will be cut off from the both somehow.
I remember seeing a Latin symbol (I think) that looks like a cross but has a circle on the top, which I can sort of see on the top of this symbol on the chest. I have no idea what it means though so...

TheWind you forget something ... the Worldstone is gone. That was the thing that kept the edyrem's powers at bay. The edyrem are supposed to be more powerful than demons and angels. That's why they are feared. They still need to hone their potential, but still.

The Edyrem are good though right?
I can't find anything on them except Uldyssian is the leader.

Still waiting for somebody to point out the person "riding" this comet. Anybody?
I don't see anyone "riding" it. I do think it's an angel though.
When someone says riding the meteor I picture a cowboy in chaps and a big hat with a lasso in hand.
Well, since we are on the topic of the lighted emblem on the chest of the angel, assumed Imperius, has anyone compared the similarity to the lighted emblem on the head of the Demon, assumed Diablo, in the Cinematic Trailer?
Looks quite similar to me.
There could be any number of theories deduced from this.
Imperius controls Diablo and joins forces to fight Sanctuary.
Diablo controls Imperius and joins forces to fight Sanctuary.
Something greater controls both Imperius and Diablo and causes them both to fight Sanctuary.
The Demon in the Cinematic is actually Imperius in another form.
Either way, if Imperius and Diablo are connected in any way, it would seem to me that Imperius aided the Prime Evils in attacking Sanctuary. This would draw the attention of Tyrael and the Angeris Council to Sanctuary in his effort to subvert the council and to destroy Sanctuary once and for all.

I always assumed the mark on the demons head was a soulstone scar, but this is possible even if it's kind of grasping.
Do you know if there is a higher power in the Angiris Council? mhmmm i know all Arch-angels are equal
Not that I know of. You'd have to ask someone more lore savvy for that, maybe try in the Lore Questions thread?
i think i did
Ah, well... I don't think they really have a "boss" but their may possibly be differences in power. I have no clue.

Wow that is a complicated story line.

Yeah, that was my first impression too. It seemed like it had to be Diablo, but more and more it seems like it might be some other demon.
