"And. at the End of Days. Wisom shall be lost
as Justice fall upon the world of men.
Valor shall turn to Wrath-
and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all-
as Fate lies shattered forever."
I believe that "Wisdom" refers to Malthael who mysteriously disappears. "Justice" refers to Tyrael which is why I think he's the meteor that falls in Tristram (It states in the book of Cain that even angels' powers can awake the dead into undead). "Valor" represents Imperius... So I expect him to either be the final boss of Diablo III or the main boss of the Diablo III expansion. "Hope" is Auriel; she opposes the destruction of humans so somehhow she's taken out of the picture. Not sure who "Death" is but I may hazard a guess that it's actually Malthael who, through looking at his cup of wisdom, feels that humanity is a threat. Lastly, "Fate" embodies Itherael who is somehow defeated.
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that high heavens will have a civil war over whether humans should be destroyed or not. Ithereal and Auriel would be opposed to this and they end up losing to Imperius and Malthael.
Not much input I can put into this post other than it being a very well constructed post, and it kind of makes me want to purchase the novel and read them myself
I have a question that I'm not sure was brought up before. Since there is a council, can an angel just go rogue and turn vigilante without the rest's approval? So even if Imperius wanted to destroy Sanctuary, woudln't he have to go through the council? I understand they all have different roles, and some might be in fact more powerful than others. Or are they? I understand there is a question section and all, but given this is a subject that mainly attracts my attention and you have layed out Imperius so well and detailed in one page I decided to post my thoughts here. If need be I'd move the reply to the proper section. Sorry in advance.

proly the most thoughtout and well put together conspericie/story prediction threads. I actually agree with you about 99% cant wait to see what actually unfolds, i mean it is blizzard for all we know the cuase for diablo to be awakened could be some pony cult, but thats just wishful thinking.

As far as I can remember they're all basically on equal ground in terms of power, but of course that doesn't mean an angel can't go against the council's wishes. Tyrael has.
While I think Imperius will attack Sanctuary.
It would fit with an upcoming expansion (Imperius being the new last boss... I hope we'll have 4 new act and not just 1 that we finish in 1h...)
But on the other hand I can't really understand why he'd attack us past DiabloIII
Because of some mistakes the world stone has been destroyed and we're part of demons. However we did within a century what they've tried to accomplish in 3000years. Which is "Destroy the demons". We have detroyed all the 7. Shouldn't he thanks humanity for that ? The war they tried to win for ages has is over, and won, by humanity.
They should have attacked us before, when there was still 2demons remaining (well 3 if we count diablo...) not when they're all dead...
They could have accused us of the worldstone destruction making the heavens vulnerable or wathever. They could have accused us of helping the demons.
Can someone enlight me =/ Because I do not understand why we're going to be attacked by him
One word. D - Bag.
lol that what I think of Imperius when I have seen all the videos and quotes from him.
Well there will always be demons and angels. You can't kill them all. We know angels come from the Crystal Arch though which could potentially be destroyed I guess. I imagine demons have something similar.

From what i understand, the Great evils were spawned from the body of Tathamet and Anu was everything good. The crystal arch creates angels which is the spine of Anu. I'm not sure if there is any part of Tathamet still around to create demons, they just kind of come back through infecting people.
Now, the wings of death part of that little excerpt.
in the images put up earlier today with the menu of the cinematics from the CE DVD, the one was named "The Prime Evil". I speculated that, Leah(Diablo) wants to use the black soulstone to capture the essence of Belial and Azmodan, the last remaining great evils besides diablo himself, and use the crystal arch to reform Tathamet. So if he were to succeed in doing this, Tathamet being the big scary 7 headed dragon that he is will surely spread his wings over sanctuary.
I doubt this will happen, maybe it will be something for an expansion.

Notice the crest on his chest looks VERY close to the one in the concept picture also. Sort of like a star.
(Btw I purposely haven't updated any of my views on this because I wanna see how right my initial thoughts were four years ago.)
