As for the weaking the Nephalem part, it weakened the Nephalem, I just assumed the humans were a weak offspring of the Nephalem. The Nephalem was a specific group of entities.
If humans are going to get stronger now that's kind of weird.
I have to say that this is actually one of the few lore points I feel dead-certain about.
The idea isn't that currently living mortals will suddenly be able to overthrow the High Heavens and Burning Hells, but rather that the generational weakening will be generationally reversed. The Worldstone ensured that each generation of the Nephalem would be born weaker than the last, resulting in the mortals/humans of today. Basically, Inarius employed the Worldstone as a malgenic device against the Nephalem. With it destroyed, mortals can, with each passing generation, regain their power and draw closer to their Nephalem origins.
I'd pay close attention to younger NPCs, like Leah.
Obviously, I could be totally off-track -- we all could be -- but that is most definitely my interpretation of what happened with the Nephalem.

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
I like what ambiguity there is, personally. There's no use being a geek if you can't obsessively analyse your favourite fictions.
True but I think the most possible scenarios given what we know have been played out, they should release a tiny bit more to give us more room to speculate.
It's hard for me to picture Imperius siding with the demons though, for any reason. I mean that's the reason he hates Sanctuary so much isn't it? It's the kindred of demons.
He'd REALLY be digging at the bottom of the barrel. If he IS siding with demons it has to be something he just decided because his vision of right and wrong has just become so skewed.
I believe the real reason he hates Sanctuary (if you look at his quotes from the book) was that he thinks of humans as abominations since they were angel/demon mix. He despises what Inarius did and wants to destroy every last bit of it. I think it has less to do with the Great Conflict than we think....for Imperius' part at least. I believe he wants it destroyed out of pure hatred for everything Sanctuary is, and I wouldn't rule it out that he would team up with evil just to get his agenda accomplished.

I was implying that instead of Imperius hating Sanctuary because it was the spawn of demons, he hated it because of the treachory of Inarius. If you read the quotes from the books it is very obvious he completely despises what Inarius did and in turn wants to destroy Sanctuary because of this act...mixing angel "blood" if you will with demon "blood". Not just that Sanctuary contains demon spawn.
Angels and demons alike hate the nephalem. I think that although he may hate demons, he might do some collaboration just to get rid of Sanctuary, just as they did with turning Inarius over to Mephisto. In other words, Imperius despises Inarius and what he did(Sanctuary) more than demons.
[Talking to Tyrael]
WELL, OLD FRIEND? asked Imperius. HOW WILL YOU CHOOSE, YOU WHO HAVE SEEN THEM AT THEIR MOST FOUL? WILL YOU VOTE WITH ME AND PUT AN END TO THIS MOST HEINOUS OF SPAWNING GROUNDS?
I SAY THAT THE RENEGADE MUST BE FOREVER IMPRISONED AND HIS NEST OF DEMON-SPAWN ERADICATED!
Take that as you will but it seems to me he hates demon spawn because they're partly demon. If it was just angels he wouldn't have a problem.
Imperius hates the naphalem for many reasons, they are demon spawn, they are a threat to his power, he does hate it for how it was created, and the whole impurity of it. Slowly but shurly the naphalem are gaining back there power. If there power is fully awaken then they could have the power to beat both hell and heaven.
Take that as you will but it seems to me he hates demon spawn because they're partly demon. If it was just angels he wouldn't have a problem.
I can see what you are saying, but I can also see my point as well. The reason they(nephalem) are so foul to him is because of the abomination of Inarius and the others: that high angels bread with lowly demons.
But either way I don't think you can just rule out Imperius at least partially seeking aid from the evils just to get Sanctuary destroyed.

You never know. I don't think it'd really fit him, but if they elaborate on it then I guess.
Well... if we're going by that quote I'd think Imperius would be for Sanctuary... the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
But this was when Imperius was speaking of Inarius. His enemy was Inarius and the abomination that was sanctuary...this is how he justified teaming up with Mephisto to imprison Inarius forever.
The enemy (Mephisto) of my enemy(Inarius) is my friend. Meaning Mephisto = friend.

Aren't Demons and Angels natural enemies?
Aren't Demons and Angels natural enemies?
Yes. But we are talking about this quote and its context is Imperius talking about what is to be done with Inarius. Inarius was clearly Imperius enemy, and the council descided that it was better to "team up" ith Mephisto in this case. Imperius justification for this was saying that since He and Mephisto had they same enemy (Inarius) then they were friends for now.
I state this to say that in the same way Imperius could justify teaming up with the Three again.

Hmm yeah it's uncertain right now, I wish they'd release some more info.

I think that's what I said.
Sanctuary is the spawn of demons.
Maybe I didn't communicate my point well then

He wouldn't be the first "High" angel to side with the "lowly" Evils...coughizualcough...and he was a lieutenant!
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
So who knows, the Angris Council made a pact with Mephisto... hes one of the Prime Evils...
Inarius sided with demons for a while too didn't he?
Anyway though it just doesn't seem to fit Imperius. Imperius is leagues above Izual I think.
Exactly. This is exactly the type of quote I was talking about. Thanks for finding that!
Well... if we're going by that quote I'd think Imperius would be for Sanctuary... the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
if anything it makes me more confident that SOME parts of heaven are being corrupted. either this Imperius angel and/or Tyrael.
honestly i totally see tyrael helping us battle the council of Heavens Angels for becoming corrupt and selling out Heaven.
that would be tight.
