How does GF 9400m compare to GF8600m GT? I'm currently running on early 2009 Macbook - GASP! Mac, and a laptop! And gaming! Yuo is teh skuc! - and while I know it's not exactly a gaming rig, I've been doing just fine in WoW for my needs (run windowed all low 60+ FPS), but just wondering should I even think about D3 on this?
I mean, this machine handles everything I need both work and recreational wise, so while new shiny one would be nice, I really don't see a reason to upgrade (unless everything breaks down, which actually might be quite close considering the age on the notebook).
Specs:
C2D 2GHz
4 GB 800MHz RAM
OSX 10.6.8 / Windows 7 Ultimate (might go for W7 instead for much increased gaming performance on D3)
GF 9400m 256MB
Haven't been lucky enough to get my hands on the beta to actually give it a go, but already have D3 via WoW Annual Pass on my BNet account, so just wondering. I sure am considering to buy a new notebook in the future (so I can dump this for GF to play her Bejeweled/Zuma, lol), but as macfag I guess I'd need to invest somewhat more, and it's been so quiet workwise that during the last two months I've been eating through my savings...
Laptop
Asus G53SW
Intel Core i7 2.0ghz(forget exact model#)
6GB DDR3
Nvidia GTX460m 1.5gb
Crucial M4 120GB SSD
***This one disappointed me. I expected to at least be able to play at 1980x1200 resolution(native for the lcd) even if i had to turn settings down some to get better frame rates. Unfortunately to get the framerate up to a level that i consider playable(30-45fps average minimum) i had to drop not only settings to low, but also lower the resolution down to 1366x768 to get respectable performance at the expense of looking blurry due to not being the screen's native resolution. at 1980x1200 even at minimum quality settings i was getting framerates below 15 and even under 10fps at times whenever there was any sort of action, which is exactly when you NEED high framrates to be able to enjoy the game.
That's not possible.. I got a similiar Asus R.O.G. Laptop with the quad i7 on 2,0 Ghz and 8GB RAM but same grahpics.
I score 14.000 Points on 3DMark06 and the laptop is generally an high end product of 2011.
Shouldn't it run D3 on max settings, when I can do nearly the same with Skyrim?
Exactly. To the person running the laptop, have you changed your battery settings to high performance? My second thought would be that your processor is pretty slow, i'd consider upgrading.

P.S. Diablo 3 doesnt have a release date yet, so buy parts only on sale, could be even cheaper if you wait and bide your time.
More advice, I hope I'm not being an A**, Sorry:
The new Nvidia cards are coming out really soon, I suspect we'll see them WITH Intel's new Ivy Bridge CPU, on Friday at the PDXLAN 2012. I believe they will be released shortly after that in april??? (Please don't quote me on this, this all from what I've read online If this happens prices will drop on the CPU and GPU, therefore making it even cheaper, if you can wait.
If your a student, your univerties technology support center, should have a shop for repairing students pc's and is usually free! They'll help you build your whole computer if you'd like.
IMPORTANT: If you are a University student you can purchase the windows 7 pro upgrade for $65 I think. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PREVIOUS EDITION OF WINDOWS ON YOUR PC, or... just install windows 7 and you don't have to enter a product key for 30 days, then install the upgrade over that, IT WORKS! After installed it is a full retail version, not OEM.
Time: It took me 6 hours to put everything together, install drivers and updates, I think I'm a little slow.
EVGA has a 90 day step up program on CERTAIN cards (CHECK EVGA FOR LIST) So if you buy a card and aren't extremely pleased with it, just pay the difference betwenn the cost of your card and the new card, ship them your card they send you the new one as soon as they recieve yours (literally, they have it packaged and waiting to ship so when your old one gets there, your new one goes out ASAP, at least thats what EVGA told me when I asked them how I got my upgrade so fast, really good customer support.
And those of you worried about needing a laptop for school, windows 7 professional can be remote accessed, if your desk top is on, you have access to pretty much everything, and step up for this is easy. Just keep your old laptop for school, or get a net book and if you need something you forgot on your desktop, you can get it no problemo. I'm a College student and this is what I do.
I really hope, I dont sound to braggadocious, or like a but hole, I really hope this helps D3 FANS get an awesome computer for cheap.
I want everyone who wants to play D3, to be able to play it and other games for a while
Yours Truly,

I have a:

Video Card Model:
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

Video Card Driver:

Desktop Resolution:

Hard Disk Size:

I was told I would be able to get low to medium quality graphics on diablo 3 and that it would run just fine. So I'm happy they arnt making everyone go out and buy new graphics cards.
I have a: Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Processor:
AMD A8-3510MX APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs) CPU Speed: 1.80 GHz System Memory: 8 GB Video Card Model: AMD Radeon HD 6620G Video Card Memory: 968MB (dedicated) Hard Disk Size: 676GB
I'm not exactly sure if my system specs are on par with the requirements, especially my graphics card. Does my system meet the recommended requirements?
I use a laptop with a gt 555m video card. This can run most games decently, but where it especially shines is in games like diablo, starcraft, etc. This is true for a lot of people because it doesn't take a genius to know that most people can handle diablo better than crysis 2. In my opinion, system requirements for this game are not as important for most other games, just because this style of game has a very large range of hardware acceptance.
One good thing about Blizz's games are they aren't too demanding on your PC. If your computer is a few years old, shouldn't have any issues running the game. Ram is super cheap anymore, can get 8 gigs around 70 bucks. You can get a vid card 100-150 dollars depending and be able to run it on high settings. Was kind of upset there wasn't going to be an Ultra setting, figured there would be since WOW had it.
It`s pretty amazing what Blizzard can do with their games in terms of system requirement. When I first saw some videos of the game running, I thought the requirement would be much higher. It seems even I with my humble PC will now be able to play it on maximum settings (or at least, close to maximum). I`m loving this!
I have everything if not better than whats written. I just cant wait for my new computer chair to arrive. then again, I cant wait for diablo 3 to arrive!
I sure hope it will run well on a 15-inch MacBook Pro. One of my friends had the beta key and tried to run it on a Dell M1530, but he didn't went any further from the lowest setting. I'd be very grateful if someone tell me the minimum GPU memory for max Anti-Aliasing
It's nice to know what the requirements are. Glad to know that my computer will most definitely be able to handle this game. If assuming the requirements are for running it on low settings, then I should be able to run the game on high settings. woot! :Thumbs Up:
*Sigh. At casual laptop owners not knowing what decent graphics cards are most of them with shitty 310m's or less thinking "yay i have a dedicated GPU" in reality they're marginally better than intel hd... if you expect to play a ARPG on one of those then go buy torchlight ... Least I got my Nvidia gt540m to play on the move expecting medium-high at 1366x768 . Common Blizzard i just figuired out how to submit using my card not intel hd gimmmmme Bettta.
lol those specs are very easy to meet, even for people runnin off of generic laptops. A min. of 7800gt? I lol'd. Even those with 310m's will do fine at medium/low settings. No need to flame on ppl that don't know tech much.
On a diff note, I'm looking forward to 1080fhd w/ultimate settings @60+ fps on the laptop I finished building not long ago. So excited!
I was curious as to why i dident get a Beta key and i thought that maybe my system was to old, but i still meet all of the requirment for diablo 3! Least i wont have to buy a new computer to play it.

Got an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ with 6GB Ram and a ATI Radeon HD 5450.
Should be fine, right?
