*edit*
just started watching the video and the graphics for the game is BAD.
it is not even Granado Espada level and sure as hell can't be compared to Aion or Blade & Soul
and even an old game like Lineage 2 can give it a run for its money
i think even Mass Effect had better graphics
*edit*
just finished the video and I am not interested in the game anymore.
even though they tried to hype up the combat and story, it is still the same as any MMO (maybe the story aspect is abit different) but the same old, same old

Well if you want to base all your games mainly off graphics, guess that's your choice. But you will have a hard time convincing most people, graphics alone make a great game.
I will assure you that this game does go further than any other online RPG of this nature. You let me know how wrong I am. I would really like to read where other online RPG's have actually done this before.
If you have zero interest, then you have zero interest. Don't start making sh%t up about this title not being original. It has taken that next step forward for this genre.

Valtonis- Actually, aren't these the best MMO graphics to date? I mean obviously better than WoW, which IMO, looks worse than KOTOR. SWTOR looks better than KOTOR II, and has better gameplay, full voice, etc. I don't know about you, but I think this is a pretty revolutionary step forward in online gaming.
Best graphics in an MMO to date?
what?
Granado Espada had better graphics and Aion's graphics are so far above it you have to run it on a really poor system to compare it to KoTOR MMO
Hellgate London had better graphics.
of course, graphics alone don't make or break a game but given the amount of time they had on this game, couldn't they at least make it on par with Mass Effect?
and the MAIN reason why i don't like the game anymore is the combat and gameplay.
they keep on going, "so you feel like a hero" but there wasn't even the feel like a hero type combat like in Force Unleashed.
the Sith warrior jumps into a group of enemies and the devs was going "you are gonna feel like a hero cuting down enemies" and the warrior takes ages to finish off those NPCs

See, here is where you are confused. You are attempting to compare The force unleashed, a project I am very familiar with (since I was one of the developers), to an Online MMO. TFU is a storyboard game with twitch graphics.
Additionally Kotor was also NOT an MMO. You are talking about an Online platform that has to work sync and collisions engines for 1,000 clients or so, per server.
Maybe you need to look up what games are in this actual genre to understand how ahead of the times it really is.
Additionally, the graphics were done intentionally as far it saves file size and makes it more appropriate so NOT only the population with the latest and greatest machines would be able to play.
They took a lesser, more artistic style and I for 1 think it works great.
This game has created a huge buzz. Bioware makes great products, I would suggest trying it before you bad mouth it.

"Pking in Softcore, is like two deaf kids yelling at each other."
can you at least read and understand what i am talking about before trying to argue with me?
point 1,
the devs said that they wanted the gamer to experience the feeling of being a "hero", yet fails to convey that feeling in the walkthrough.
thus, i gave the EXAMPLE of Force Unleashed where you actually had a feeling of being a "hero" type character
Point 2, i am not referring to the previous installments of the KoTOR game when i said koTOR MMO.
i am referring to THIS game, which was initial refered to as KoTOR MMO as it is still set in that era and continues the story of the previous KoTOR games
and although it is now called Star Wars: The Old Republic, referring to it as KoTOR MMO is still more accurate than calling it Star Wars MMO
and i have played tons of MMOs and how is it ahead of it's time?
the combat sure isn't.
the skills isn't
the graphics isn't.
the UI isn't.
the co-op isn't
just having voiceovers which people are just gonna skip over anyway?
granted them trying to have a storyline in an MMO is a great attempt but if they are just gonna have a great storyline than they should just have stuck with makig KoTOR 3

I read your statements just fine. But to expect the same out of game that offers more, there must be some draw backs.
Again, you have not played the game to KNOW anything of your little list..

..is or isn't true. I have played the game. A rather small part (34hours or so) and I can testify that it has gone farther than any other MMO in it's genre.
Now I am not some random person that is going to throw up my 2 copper in this particular area. If you notice, I have a fairly small post count for being on such an active site for the length that I have. There are only a few key topics I pipe in on and this is one of them.
Game taste and preference is a key to marketing a game from the get go. You don't like what you see, fine don't buy it. But to state little BS list when you do not know any of it to be fact, places you in the category of a standard "Know it all".

For those of you interested, SW:TOR is letting you register for their beta. As of right now the website is down from all the excitement. Hurry and get your registration! http://www.swtor.com/user/register

You basically said it's the same type as WoW (or EQ or w/e). And no matter how well you make WoW it's still WoW and it still sucks (OK, IMHO, but we seriously have too much of those).
SW:TOR has never advertised itself in any way to indicate that it's different. Why should anyone think it's not from the same pile? If they are so innovative as you claim they'd use it as an advertisement tool.

To claim it is the same type as WoW IS a little misleading on both ends. SWTOR is not a full MMO RPG such as WoW where each Continent is a free roam 1,500 player server. The game interacts a lot more with instanced combat and such. The only reason I used that as a reference is because it is marketed as a MMO RPG.
As far as "WoW Sucking", well it may not be your personal taste, but their record numbers speak for themselves don't they?

Well isn't that a horrible statement. Almost every video documentation they have released has shown how this game differs from the other MMO RPG's.
Perhaps you were thinking of another game? Lucas Arts has always done advertisement for their releases. LA is lucky that they have Bioware developing this one because they really have brought something great to the game..

I'm really not a star wars fan at all but this game looks great, just watched the 20 minute walk through on youtube and I am really looking forward to this. Diablo 3, The Old Republic and the Witcher 2 are basically the only games I'm looking forward to atm.
SWTOR is aiming to be the opposite of Diablo 3. SWTOR has a terribly deformed and cartoony art style. The character running animation in SWTOR looks completely retarded.
I prefer the serious and bloody graphics style of Diablo III, which implies that D3 will have a more serious and mature story/gameplay.
Also, SWTOR will not feature limb severing, which the SW movies had in abundance. So instead of following the highly successful movies, they will remove limb severing from lightsaber combat to copy the SW cartoon, hence the ridiculous graphics style. SWTOR will be a kiddie game for the general audience while D3 will be bloody, gritty and mature for hardcore gamers.
Besides, which other game out there offer a hardcore mode? Diablo 3 will be #1.
At first I thought woah, this game could actually become something.
Then I watched the gameplay. Character movement and other animations (lightsaber combat wtf!?)
makes my eyes bleed :/
So, anyone still following this game? I got back to it after the RealID fiasco, since I can't play Blizzard games anymore. They started "testing" recently, which I registered for like... yesterday... rofl.
Anyone on the official forums? I'm BrightEquinox there.
been signed up for the beta for some time myself, no luck with a key, tho (i tested before, let me in!!!).
the game looks impressive so far. i'm really curious about how storytelling will be a vital part of the game. cause with my experience MMOs are quest, quest, quest, grind, grind, grind *yawn* do a dungeon, get some loots, go to bed. sorta.
I signed up last week sometime. :/ Generally, I have pretty bad luck with betas, I get through friends and fansites sometimes but I'm not registered on any at the moment...
The VO will really help make walls of text more manageable.

i didn't enjoy Jade Empire and Mass Effect, NVN1 was pretty weak too (it was the fan made mods that saved it)
