posted a message on Real Money Auction House - Still let down
I understand Blizzard has stated they are not doing a Real Money auction house for hardcore, but I have to say I am little disappointed at this time. I would have hoped they would have changed their minds by now.

People complain about loss of items due to lag as is, but honestly it is buyer beware. I would have hoped by now they would have changed their minds about RMAH for hardcore. With the accounts being linked to paypal it would allow for more of a farm money is SC to save and buy for hardcore.

I would have figured it would have been a great way to get more people to get led into playing hardcore. It's not like their is a risk of Player Killing so there really is not other expectation of of unreasonable item loss other than latency and lag.

I am still holding onto hope, but I believe that is lost.

The only thing I would recommend is taking the sword of your Templar if you are not using him. Either that or update his crappy lvl 22 shield. :miniD:

Anyone interested in getting some help with hardcore, contact me. Just leave me a message here or add me in game as friend with comment "Diablofans", or something relative so I know it's more than just a spam invite and decline.

I have tons of experience with hardcore, from Diablo 2 to Diablo 3 so I know how to play safely and wisely with lag/DC's.

Please don't hit me up for free handouts, but I will be able to help with excess items when I can.

posted a message on Hardcore AH out of control
I find that the AH is right on for Hardcore. You cannot expect it to be the same as softcore. The nutrition alone for hardcore makes items more rare. It has since Diablo 2.

However, wise shopping on the AH is always available. You just need to use the AH to scout for cheap prices with the appropriate stats or item attributes. You can always find items with high buyouts, but low bids. Sometimes you just have to start placing bids and see what you come up with.

Best thing I have found is slow leveling a easy character type to farm with. Whatever you find you are best at. Salvage blues and sell the essences/tooths on the AH to gain money to purchase levling gear.

Not trying to toot my horn, but just as an example I pieced together this toon's leveling gear with the above method. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Vadle-1714/hero/33350017

Sorry to hear of your loss. However nothing new here. Just be glad you are not playing on dial up. Just imagine the fustration of dealing with 28k or 56k dial up and someone calls or picked up the phone. I guess I just dated myself.

I know it sucks but the best thing I recommend is having nice sets of leveling gear ready to go to hurry you through the levels to try again.

    I miss pking :miniD:

I used to duel a fair amount when I was number 1 (highest level) amazon on USWEST server on the first ladder run hardcore mode and took several ears, but the thrill wore off when people just spammed bonespirit/guided arrow/frost nova/leap and run around until they would get stun locked and died or pussed into town with an instant gate. I even retired that character alive.

If this is true, we probably fought many times.

    1. If blizz would stop cheating (like tppk) i could live with that.
    2. Whoever has more luck wins. I can find rare axe +239874293874 to everything, while my opponent finds 1 health potion.
    3. I'd still prefer to wait a week instead of loosing my lvl 60 fully geared uber character. On the other hand, if someone has a really bad internet connection, he wouldn't be able to play any HC due to suspension.

Exploit PK's were a problem, but one that could be addressed easily even in Diablo 2. They just chose not to.

As far as the luck in Ironmans, that is true, but I never in Diablo 2 had that play an ultimate factor for winning or losing. Also the winner of the Ironmans ended up looting quite the different aray of set items and rares. I always heard the complaint that X class would always beat X class at X level, but those were hardly true. At that low of level it was all about how you played your character.

Waiting a week would just be the tip of the iceberg. As if you remembered even in Diablo 2, alt-f4 was never a guarantee or even the chicken bot programs for that matter. Not to mention it would give you a bad reputation after a couple times of doing to to prompt more severe punishment.

I understand your playing devil's advocate on these, but 1.) and 2.) were actually very successful with Diablo 2 and they should promote that in 3.

I think Monk. With his ability to get in and out of melee/range, good timed dps and heal, he will be a pain :P

Also Monk, from what I have played he can be quite powerful in the right hands.

posted a message on Ideas for Hardcore PvP Modes
It's been a long time since I have posted anything on these forums. I have read a few other threads on this site and again I don't expect anything to actually be done but it would definitely be a nice addition if Blizzard did the following for Hardcore PvP..

    So here we go..

1.) Allow open hostility. I understand some people are not ok with this. If you ask me, it was the sole purpose that made Diablo 2 hardcore great. If you remember the time frame, the only real downfall for hardcore at Diablo 2 was not PK's, it was the dying to lag that lead to being killed by a PK on a map. There was enough ability to find and create a private game away from open PK's and after playing the beta, I know it is in Diablo 3 as well. The only thing that so far I have seen is that town is a little less defined by a hostility boundary or safe zone.

2.) Ironman Mode. For the HC duelers that remember this, it was starting a new character leveling it to level 18 and then dueling with the items you found along the way. Now the problem with implementing this would be the fact that it would take to long to get to 18 just to duel. However, if they made a mode that started you at 18 and stopped xp, they could then set a timer that would start a 3v3 or whatever after a (enter time here) starting timer to go find items to best gear your character. They could also implement this and just give you a blank character and make you gear from your shared bank stash. Now the rewards for this can simply be stats for your profile or special banner icons. Let's be honest, it's mainly about bragging rights.

3.) Allowing the grouped hardcore players a draw due to a disconnected team mate. Now I know some of you may think it would get exploited, which it would, if not done properly. But if they make it were the disconnected player account was not able to que up for a team HC duel for a week as a penalty for dcing, this would at least give a bit of deterrent to those that try to DC before the coup de grace. You can then tag the allied players to the dc'er and if they accumulate 2 more dc's, they also get a week suspension. That way it would allow players that are serious about competing to align themselves with the more competitive players that dedicate their "full" time to complete the duel they que'd for.

That's all for now, I may add more to this later..

As a hardcore player (Which I hope is implemented), I believe they destroyed the PVP aspect of the Diablo name sake.

Again nothing is concrete because the game has not launched, however Blizzard is making it to similar to the WoW arena system.

They are stopping PKing, which whether you agree or not, was a huge part of the Diablo series. Unfortunately Blizzard is trying to get rid of anything Blizzard North did.

The only plus arena PVP offers is the fact it would force players to actually engage in combat instead of town humping.

posted a message on They should rename this class.
It is personal taste, but there are plenty of righteous complaints..

The name and class itself is nothing innovative. With the destruction of world stones it allows more corruption and destruction throughout.

It wouldn't have been a bad idea to introduce a schizophrenic type class, partially possessed by demonic energy. But in my opinion, should have replaced the Witch Doctor and more appropriately been the surprise announcement character..

Wasn't allowing me to sign in for some reason.

    Anyways..

For me, Demon Hunter was such a let down as the "Secret Class". Not enough innovation involved with it. A vengeful hunter who stalks demons.. /boo

I understand the roll for the traditional rogue/hunter class was the element missing in the traditional scheme of things, but why not step outside the box a little.

You basically said it's the same type as WoW (or EQ or w/e). And no matter how well you make WoW it's still WoW and it still sucks (OK, IMHO, but we seriously have too much of those).

To claim it is the same type as WoW IS a little misleading on both ends. SWTOR is not a full MMO RPG such as WoW where each Continent is a free roam 1,500 player server. The game interacts a lot more with instanced combat and such. The only reason I used that as a reference is because it is marketed as a MMO RPG.

As far as "WoW Sucking", well it may not be your personal taste, but their record numbers speak for themselves don't they?

    Quote from "Equinox" »
SW:TOR has never advertised itself in any way to indicate that it's different. Why should anyone think it's not from the same pile? If they are so innovative as you claim they'd use it as an advertisement tool.

Well isn't that a horrible statement. Almost every video documentation they have released has shown how this game differs from the other MMO RPG's.

Perhaps you were thinking of another game? Lucas Arts has always done advertisement for their releases. LA is lucky that they have Bioware developing this one because they really have brought something great to the game..
