In my sudden boredom with diablo, ie i have nothing to do on it these days, i came across this little game called Two Worlds. It looked nice at first glance, sort of like oblivion, apparently BIGGER than it, and graphics werent that bad. They didnt quite match up with oblivion, but i could get past that. Then i saw it. ONLINE PLAY. Free. 8 player support. Beauty. Im getting it.
You can then imagine my suprise when i noticed the words mmo. I thought, wait, wasnt it 8 player games? Like my beloved diablo? After reading a few articles, it seems the game was always destined/built to be an mmo, it was just a last minute decision. MMO...not good. However, i read on. This game is essentially oblivion, same interface and attack system, but ONLINE, with thousands of players. And the biggest part of all? ONLINE PLAY IS FREE. A FREE MMORPG WITHOUT THE CARTOONISHNESS OF WOW, WITHOUT THE GAY ATTACK SYSTEM OF MOST RPGS. You actually use wsad for movement and left/right click to attack, just like oblivion. Grouse. Im getting it.
Its been released in germany on PC and is coming to uk/us/aus in about a month, June 26th i think. Plans for xbox 360 are confirmed but release date not yet announced. This will keep me going til d3 comes. Go look it up, let me know what you guys reckon, and let me know if your planning on buying it.
Hm, I like the idea, I suppose it will work like Guild Wars, with forced expansion packs... no buying plans, the expansion packs will kill us. Maybe I'll try a trial if there is one.
I've been planning on getting this for my 360 for a while now. For some reason I don't think it'll work like Guild Wars, more like Oblivion with multiplayer.
I think it's an experiment for these types of games. Hopefully it'll work.
Plus, you can fight while mounted on a horse! That always bugged me on Oblivion.
I've been looking forward to this title for awhile. From what I've seen so far, the game looks very promising. Not to mention 360 RPG with online play... I've been wanting that for a very long time.
I'll never get bored with diablo but i'll play this new one too.

he said he heard it from reviews..
and when he said oblivion with multi player...
he didnt mean, take the game oblivion, and add multiplayer onto it
it is an analogy.
And this particular game which we are talking about here is NOT a MMO. That is something they are planning, but the game itself is actually already out there, in Russia and Germany and those kind of places. English version is lying around on p2p as well.
This is definately not a MMO in the same sense as WoW, EQ and EVE, but the lines between MMO's and non-MMO's get dimmer every day. This game, and Hellgate, and internet play on every game out there works to eventually turn all multiplayergames will become MMO's, erasing the in-between that we have now. Of course that will take more than decades, but eventually.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
WOW you guys don't pay attention. I've had this game for about 5 days now and I've talked about it a couple time previously as well.. It's not an MMO. The engine is as powerful as Oblivion's but not put to use as well. The controls need work and the combat is more arcade than the typical RPG. I can answer any questions about it if you have them. It comes out in 13 days or something.
but the lines between MMO's and non-MMO's get dimmer every day.
A MMO is all playing people in one place, like, millions. A non-MMO is 8-12-20-100 players in one place. MMO players influence their world, non-MMO don't. I don't see anything dim here.

MMO players don't really influence their world. Nothing any WoW players do make a lasting effect. At least not yet.
Good controls don't always mean bad gameplay, Gothic were pretty bad, too...
Who said bad gameplay?
The combat doesn't involve skill cards. Basically you click to attack and you can click 1-4 times for a combo sorta deal. There is no skill required. Whether you hit or not depends on how close you are to your target. It's more like gauntlet than other rpg's. Spells are cool though. You find spells on enemies, in chests, at stores and you can find the same ones twice to build up the level of your spells. You also get skill points that you can invest in the 5 types of spells to open up higher ones. You find ones that you can't use right away. They also have spell modifier's that you can find which are like "cards" in a way. You equip 3 spells at one and each one has 3 slots for modifiers. Modifiers can be anything from lowering the mana cost to increasing duration or damage. The spell system is pretty cool with plenty of options. I believe a total of 125 spells.

And Oblivion won't work multiplayer. This reminds me of an RPG version of Savage so far. I'm really looking forward to Savage 2 and Survival...
EDIT: The site doesn't say anything about it being MMO. It says "up to 8 players".

he didnt mean, take the game oblivion, and add multiplayer onto it

Oblivion is just one of the worst examples.
