"A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" was a great little story. But that kind of thing goes with the Diablo universe about as well as... rainbows.
But thanks for keeping it polite, sorry if we're talking at each other.

Are you inferring there can't be rainbows in the world of Diablo either? I'm beginning to understand your methods a little more now and your thinking is polluted.
Anyway, if you wish to carry on this conversation, start a new thread about it. Otherwise, let's get back to talking about the Dune Thresher.
What Felthuzad is saying is that although the name Osama bin Laden would merely seem a rather strange name in the world of sanctuary (but not that strange) it would still be utterly out of place because of the connotation. It would only help to remind the player (s)he is playing a game, a game with a stupid gimmicky character named Osama bin Laden because some ten year old dev thought it would be funny.
Its not that hard of a concept Siaynoq.
I'm not saying I don't understand it, really. I'm just saying I disagree with it.
Dune Threshers reminded me of Arrakis. Stay away from the sand.
I think it will attack when you are running through the desert, so if you walk stealthily it won't notice you (unless you are wearing heavy armor). If you WANT they to come after you: use ground stomp! (Barbarians rule, lol)
just thought of something....why would they announce this monster so close to blizzcon? could there be a new gameplay trailer with a few in it? i hope so, but its doubtful...its doubtful

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)

Actually... you may be right. I really do think that Blizzard are going to show part of Act II in BlizzCon because they said they been working on it for a short while now and wouldn't that be the perfect place to show this beast?
Hi. My name is Mike Rowe. Today on Dirty Jobs we team up with Blizzard as they decide on what next frivolous bit of information they will release today. Is it another monster that will be among countless others in the game? Or could it possibly be a new type of tree you will see in the scenery? Whatever it is, it is bound to get a response from the public. A dirty, impatient, pressing response...
1. It sounds like the dune thresher likes to drag its victims below the sand. Perhaps this could be another hero death animation. Kind of a lame one though, unless it spits back out your corpse from beneath he sand.
2. How big do you think this thing is? It's hard to tell in the animation, but I'm hoping it's huge.
3. I think whatever is in the cage is it's normal food source, my guess would be those frickin annoying cave leapers. Anyways it would be cool if the sand thresher could be spawned by torturing those bastard cave leapers or sand monkies, whatever they are...
Is it just me, or do these Lore entries have a bit of a Lovecraftian edge to them? It's not something I'm decrying, of course; I think it's pretty neat.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
All in the Forger's wake is left bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the dark Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
