His "court" is his guild, SICK, and the members are members of said guild. He was choosen the leader because, from the info I have, he had the most posts at the time that SICK was created.
No problem. I'm sure an actual member of SICK can give a more thorough, though maybe slanted, history if you would like. There are only a few active SICK members anymore though, so good luck finding one.
(Not ment as offensive, simply pointing out the truth as I see it.)

Correct his court is the guild.
He was chosen as he was the most popular user at the time, having won the very first "who is your favourite member" poll. I held the record for the most posts at the time, and still do. I was not present in the poll as I was still new to many people at the time, yes that is despite my high post total at the time.
And his name is Silversurfnstud. or rather SilVerSurFnStud, there is no apostrophes in his name.
I assume by history you are referring to online personas, as in actually there is not much that can be said. He is a user here with a large group of friends.
The whole living deity status thing is a long running gag between 3 friends, Silversurfnstud (naturally), myself Elfen lied, and a member that is no longer here Kingpin202. It one of the many, many who is your fav member threads, kingpin and I were joking around with the concept of silversurfnstudology. That is the study of Silversurfnstud.
It was a series of no more than 6 or 7 posts that proved to be quite entertaining to all who read them. Whether or not the posts are still here I cannot recall, but basically they revolved around the concept of one obtaining a doctorate, degree and bachelors in the field of studying Silversurfnstud.
From that series of posts a cult-like following emerged and Silversurfnstudology became Silversurfnstudism, to in a way, sound more like a religion, even though it clearly wasn't, and was admitted to be so by all, save those who couldn't see it was a joke. I have no idea how you couldn't see it as anything but a joke.
Through many months of boredom from waiting for news some of us, who were avid role players, particularly in the realm of Medieval fantasy, took the concept of Silversurfnstudism, and merged it with other concepts from various sources (mostly medieval fantasy in nature), this had the effect of making him seem less like someone who thought himself to be some sort of super powerful being, though he never really thought of himself one in the first place.
Borrowing primarily from such things as Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer, Silversurfnstud changed from being seen as the only God, to a god among many. Just one in a pantheon of gods. As gods in such games usually have very devout followers, one who usually occupy temples and churches, so to became the case with those who called themselves followers of Silversurfnstud. borrowing against from medieval fantasy, the followers of Silversurfnstud began to, at least according to the fictional backstory given (again out of bordom) resemble a monasteral militant order, much like The Knights of the Order of the Radiant Heart in Dungeons and Dragons or the Knights Temlar or Knights Hospitilar, or even the Zakarum church in Diablo.
This is pretty much were the Order of the Silver Inferno Crusading Knights came from.
Silver from Silversurfnstud.
Inferno from the name of the very first guild in Diablo 1.
Crusading Knights as that is what they viewed themselves as. Much like the Crusaders in Jerusalem.
The guild experienced a high point for a while, with a good solid amount of people, not all of whom embraced the whole Role Playing aspect, yet neither were they expected or forced to. But over time it's numbers dwindled, and it feel into disrepute, with nothing but the hope that DIablo 3 will restore it to its former height of activeness. Only time will tell if that will be true.
Here's hoping. Man those were some awesome 8 man games in Diablo 2. And some pretty intense games of Starcraft and Warcraft. Pity I only got Broadband after the guild virtually died.
This has all been said before on many occasions by the way.

While I thank you for your words, they aren't really needed. He asked what the story was, so I, merely doing for duty as a forum member, explained it.
It is somewhat easy for me to do it in this case, as I was one if not the main driving force behind the entire thing.
So do we do stuff in SICK or is it just imaginary now, basing on what I read so far about it.
We do stuff, we play Diablo 2 together, WOW together, lots of games together, if you are referring to any role playing, then not so much. As for it to really work it requires fairly high numbers, and especially the man himself to be around. I do not know when the last time he logged on here was, I haven't been around much myself lately, but I figure it was awhiles ago.
Sick has an occasional member on the game, but mostly it is the last few members on the forum.
Odd hours coupled with not all being on the one server and/or Realm makes it hard to get high numbers of people on in one place at one time. SICK is active, it the larger scheme of things, but as a guild it is fairly broken. I know I was on but few else were. This happened a lot.
We need some kind of way to liven SICK up then (as I just joined). Maybe I could make the DEYG part of SICK.
In order to liven it up it will require numbers. As stated in multiple threads, we should start there. Though as my last sentence made clear, the fact that there are multiple thread suggests this is not going well.

Well as I look at it, there aren't a lot of attempts to get SICK more members. We suggest it, but we do nothing about it, or maybe I'm just high on whatever I'm smoking...
There are quite a few attempts. However those they are in SICK seem to be largely inactive. So what happens is a few people suggest an idea, say jump on a game and spam a recruiting message, people agree, but only a few actually do it. The few people that do get recruited via such a method end up replacing old members, rather than adding to the total number.
People are leaving in larger numbers than what is coming in. Either the sum total of this attempt is a direct swap of an inactive for new, which does little, but is good, or it is a negative result, that is like I said more out that in.
If you wish to discuss attempts or ideas to recruit new members here is a thread where you can see what has been tried before.
Suggesting ideas that failed is probably not a good idea, unless of course you can think of a way to improve that idea.

The problem with this site is that there isn't any waiting or suspense anymore. By the looks of it, you guys had over 5000 members at one point, but then the entire site failed. You guys aren't celebrating at all about the return of Diablo. Throw in some fun stuff here and there, like favorite member polls, tourneys, etc. And for god's sake make SICK worth joining.
Id probably considering joining SICK.....assuming you guys play WOW and d2 the way I do :P.....tho ive quit both id def jump back on both if i had a good relaible group to play with.
Edit: So are there many of SICK on D2 nowadays? or all on WOW? do you guys play hardcore? raid hardcore? pvp? etc etc?
They're in everything, and participate in everything as far as I know, but organization is lacking- interest has waned severely- and, of course, many people operate on different timezones, have jobs, go to school, a life... I don't know, they always make excuses. So I stopped waiting on most them. It's not really their fault, or anyones, it's just an old game that many of us have been playing straight for the last decade (that's 10 years for the uneducated) and beat that game to a bloody frickin' pulp. There's just nothing left for most of us.
Anyway, on the Diablo II side, yes, many play Hardcore. Most of the people from this site, however, that you find on Diablo II nowadays, will typically not be in S.I.C.K., and will typically be on US West, if you wanted to know.
For WoW, I can't really answer, though I know of quite a few members that do play it. I'm not sure what kind of play they engage in it, though.
I, myself, don't play WoW, or much Diablo II, anymore, since I just found an awesome new game I like online... Lol. Oh well.
I do have a suggestion for a new game that SICK could play that would fit in with its love of role playing. Darkfall (when it's released of course) ^.^

WoW.....thats kinda cool......I wonder if its gonna live up to its potential tho....I sure hope so it looks like it could be one killer game if they pull it off!!!
The idea that the story is user created is intriguing to me, I mean you and your buddies holding down a fort in a remote corner of the wilderness, feuding with your neighbors, and building an empire. It sounds fun to me. I've always like sandbox type gameplay, this is just on a massive scale. I think it could last till D3 (if it's released b4 then -.-)
