Been playing since the early D1 days and happy where things have gone. Too many games out there require so much time and grind it doesn't suit the adult life style anymore. I was big into Wow back in Vanilla days and it simply takes too much time to get anywhere and I hate how they butchered theory crafting with the removal of trees.
This is a great combat system and it's finally getting to the point I can experiment with different abilities and be successful. The changes from the patches have been great and have built a solid foundation. Any long time Diablo veteran's know that Diablo always improves as each patch comes by.
Sadly all my RL friends have quit so I haven't had much multiplayer action but I like the fact I still can have fun on single player.
TL;DR
What everyone else has stated in the thread.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Wow, and I thought I was the only one who loves this game! We see so much whining and crying and complaining that sometimes it's hard to remember that some of us ACTUALLY love the game. Awesome thread, I don't feel like I'm the only one still in love
What is this "player versus player" you speak of? Like you mean, to see who has the most gold or....?
I have never heard of this "player versus player" you speak of.
Let me enlighten you... two players get together, pull their pants down, grab a ruler and measure out their DPSmember, biggest number deserves the most respect and will have more young virgins waiting for him in heaven after he kicks Diablos butt. End.
I play this game because ima damn stubborn snb...D1 was great back in highschool, D2 was great playing with friends in Lan, D3 was supposed to be great playing with everyone on the internets...But it isnt, it is pretty much a a gearcheck every step of the way.
But dont take me wrong, im not whining, after all what is the point after playing over a thousand hours.., all im saying is that it is pretty stale atm and needs to re-do some stuff the others did that were great.
ANd btw, dungeon crawling isnt really in tune with how d3 turned out. only a few levels here and there are random, 90% of the game is pretty much set in stone.
I just came back from a little hiatus from D3 (not an angry one, a omfg BL2/TL2/Walking Dead/Skyrim gotta get playin' kinda hiatus), and hot damn! The new stuff is sweet! (I missed the last 2 patches)
Diablo 3 is fun, I also enjoy how my fantasy "Rend" 2H Barb build is massively improved. ;p
D3 is one of the only games you can play while watching something or hearing a podcast.
Not really. Specifically, World of Warcraft (outside of raiding and trading) can be played the same way. Also, if you're playing a barb and trying to keep WotB up, you can't really take your eyes off the screen.
not really sure 99% of my friends quit it already. just not the game it was hyped to be. i just wish they didnt make builders and spenders for every class.. WIZARD is terrible design... shoulda been a necro or worc with mana. Demon Hunter CC isnt very effective in inferno as the % less to CC.. and they are to fragile because of this.. plus it feels lack luster anyways.. builders spenders on a hunter class? the randomly generated maps arent random enough... when i play the game it is much to linear. i wish a game came out like never winder nights... when ppl made there own server mods for that game it was by far the best ARPG i've ever played. the item system is to generic and not unique enough..
maybe its the fact the game wasnt polished enough on release.. maybe it was the fact that it was to hard for new players and then they left. maybe it was just so many things combined and the fact its pay to win... i donno.. but everyone has quit... and the game i was hoping was going to be simply awesome.. which my friends would stick around ect ect ect but its NOT...
edit;
come to think of it wasnt diablo 1 and 2 MUCH more sinister? i remember there being naked people skewered onto spikes.. blood and guts.. much more scary atmosphere.. now we throw fireworks at 5 different color of imps.. and the story line isnt adult content at all.. it feels PG13. i wanted to taste the pain of the people who were tortured in the worl.. i wanted to see the grotesque of demon like hellish areas. i wanted i much more realistic graphix engine.. not something that was deisgned 7 years ago then put on hold so they could take the designers off d3 for WOWC expansions.
the only parks of the game which arent too cartoony and pg trying to be adult content.. was when we kill grum or whatever.. that stinker boss in act3.. when he exploded on my screen for the first time and his guts sprayed all over the place and made a huge disgusting noise.. that was epic.

Really? wasn't when you hit monsters so hard they'd explode and go everywhere? Wasn't the area filled with mutilated corpses throughout ALL of act 2 and 3? or the death animations of 99% of the monsters? or Azmodans death? by the sounds of it you're letting other peoples opinions and reasons cloud your own. Diablo 3 is far more goreier than 1 and 2.

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."
"Hey, I thought you'd like the witty irony of grub-on-glowie violence!"
I am happy for all the people who do love the game. I liked D3 for the time I played. I just do not know if D3 will ever get me hooked into it. I usually get the shakes when I do not play D2 or any of the Torchlight games for a lengh of time, with D3 I rarely even think about it.
I just do not know the reason(s) why D3 is not addictive to me like the previous two games since the core of the games are roughly the same killing monsters and rensacking the corpse for a potential upgrade. The thing is I am getting that feeling still in D2 and in the two Torchlight games.

@starlight. You do not have to use mods and only a few mods make it easier to get gear. Also there was a recent patch that added 2 new pets and a few phase beast challenges. The Mod tools are not released yet, when it is I will likely make a tough challenging mod that will change a good portion of the game (new items, new skills, new monsters, etc)

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.

Diablo III Skill Proc Coefficients:
