I don't want to sound rude, but it would be stupid from Blizzard not to include such a feature. The game is designed to be completable solo, and knowing this there MUST be some sort of scaling when more players are in the game.
To be honest, however, I would prefer to not have them simply grow stronger, but also grow in numbers. For example, each additional player there are 25% more enemies, and they are 25% stronger. Things that don't multiply well (boss, etc) would be 50% stronger instead.
Numbers are nothing but examples.
I personally would prefer something like this. It would actually give a better feeling that you -need- the people around you in a bigger game, because there are more to deal with. This might not be to everyone's liking, though.
I wouldn't expect that, though. But I think it would be nice. What you should expect for sure, though, is a similar scaling to Diablo 2. I still would like to hear it from them, though.
We don't change the number of monsters that spawn. That way we can make sure that even if you're playing by yourself, you can still have a crazy giant pile of monsters to fight. So no, we play with difficulty in other ways.
I hope it gets harder than it was in d2 with more players. lol that be awesomeszz

If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
Yeah, just go play it. You take a lot more damage in Hell than NM or Norm.
No, my question is, do monsters get more damage and not only more HP when people join a game in Diablo 2?
What does Hell, Nm, or Norm have to do with my question lol

Are you sure? I was always under the impression that they only get more hp. Anyone want to confirm?
always thought their attacks were stronger as well..
just did a crappy test (sample size way too small to judge anything from.. but well i'm judging from it since it confirms what i believe :P)
solo game single 8 player game single
zombie damage zombie damage:
50 57
74 104
61 72
53 174
61 73
89 81
55 133
90 108
52 101
77 91
avg= 66.2 avg= 99.4
sd= 15.21 sd= 34.07
seems like either
1) damage is higher
2) crit chance is higher
3) coincidence is a trixy thing (i did do an unpaired t test with p=.0115 which is statistically significant.. but then factoring in random crits, you never know)
playing hc there's some things that i fear more in high player games when i have bad gear
pindles minions in high player games
dolls in high player games
nili's ce in high player games
2 of those coudl be explained by just higher life.. so i guess it could just be more life.
edit: and btw i hope they have similar scaling in d3 also

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.

Perhaps they'll change it to "Hells minions have grown stronger"

Health and XP they give is increased by 50% per additional player, up to 350% more.
Drops are affected in various more complicated ways, but they -are- and monsters generally drops more with more players.
The damage one is the only hard one to notice. You can find that information here:

thanks was just searching for something like that
they'll never see me coming..

otherwise would be too easy.
I hope we still can use the "\players X" command line, too.
