Im so mad with the way the attitude of making it a "fast paced" game is being implemented. Nothing wrong with fast paced, but the way in which they are doing it is resulting in the stripping of components of Diablo that make it what it is. Make it "easy", fast paced and brainless for all of us with ADD who can't pause every once in a while and regroup - that would cause us to lose focus and attention!
No, we must have seisure-inducing color flashes without stop to maintain our attention. We dont want any challenges. Even when you're just standing there, have the weapons spew lightning and flames, in case we lose focus of the game. Take away the slotted inventory.. that would challenge those of us unable to stack a shelf at home with books or pack a travel bag for vacation. God forbid you have to stop every once in a while and actually LOOK at the items you found. Honestly I am sick to my very being. Its like taking something precious and special, and trampling all over it. Blizzard I think used a team of WoW developers make this game. I understand their money came from WoW, but Diablo gave money for Wow to be started, too! The state of this game fails in so many aspects in my view.
The thing is, these things are deliberate changes on Blizzard's part, not accidents, or things that need more work, or the inability of their staff to implement things. They did this on purpose!!!
People say "inventory does not make Diablo" or "Graphics do not make the game", or "Diablo is not about this or that". But you know what? There comes a point where so many things add up that soon we are talking about a game on our hands that is _not_ Diablo. The scary thing is, a large number of people seem to not want a Diablo, but a World of Warcraft with the theme of Diablo. Maybe because people wish Blizzard made a World of Diablo instead (Diablo themed, but like Wow) ?
Personally I will keep watching what they do to the game, but as it looks, I think this title is not going to be something I play. The agony of it will render me unable to even look at it.
I, as a WoW player (thats right Ive been a longtime addict), wish WOW had never happened. It has spread into Diablo like a plague, a malignant cancer. We think Blizzard can't fail? Well for what its worth this is going to be one title that I will not have the privilige of enjoying.
Maybe I am overreacting, but the more I watch the gameplay video the more I feel this way.
I for one am not on the bandwagon of "even if they dont fix it i will still buy it"
This is just me though. I am sure many disagree, but just throwing out my thoughts on this for what they are worth. I cant not voice myself, its too much to keep inside!
I don't mean to be disrespectful, or arrogant, or hateful towards any one especially the people at work on this game. If us forum members didn't care about the game we wouldn't bother spending hours on this forum pouring out our innards.
If this post comes across as emotional, that's probably because of how strongly I feel about these things, not because I'm trying to hurt people's feelings. I am hoping to just give my input and stimulate others to respond with their reasonings, not get mad at me for being blind and ungreatful.
Sorry, I don't have proof of this. However I am certain they have removed it. If they went as far as to make icon-inventory, I won't be surprised if they have implemented the automatic stat point distribution in WoW. I'll remove that part from my post, since I made it seem like fact, sorry!

eeeh I seriously doubt they would do that. The stat page is THE heart of Diablo. If you screw up with your stats, you're done, kiss that character goodbye cuz you'll never solo Diablo. At least that's the way it was with Diablo 1. Diablo 2 is far more forgiving for poor stat placement thanks to the skills. If blizzard had even an abby-normal brain, they'd realize it would be stupid to have auto-stats in Diablo 3 like in WoW
I know what you mean, its happening to a lot of games too, not just d3. The sad thing they say they are making it streamlined with less down time to make it better, but what do you really end up with by stripping out elements, just more of the same. Taking it a few more steps along this path and you have something where you cant die and you don't need to worry about inventory space, so what do you really end up doing? simply constant clicking from place to place, no respite, nothing different. Monotony with the occasional big boss and no need to even remotely think about where you are or what your doing.
Blizzard screwed up with WC3. I don't understand nor find acceptable a blind fanboyism of Blizzard. They have made several successful titles, but it's just a company and they can screw up just like anyone else, and I think that Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 will both be mediocre games.
Blizzard North was all that was trustable, these folks are as close to EA as ever.
I have to agree, they see the gaming industry in a more marketed way then they did before. I was expecting DIII to be done by Blizzard North but I guess not.

I played WC2 to death, never even touched WC3, never gave it chance with graphics like a children's book.
Blizzard Entertainment in all their safe marketing and neutral coloring, have killed the spirit of Warcraft and maybe even Starcraft 2. Diablo 3 is almost salvagable but we need to go out on the offensive asap, the petition isn't going to cut it, a heavy emphasis on the alienation of the community by this choice must be clear to them.
An aggressive and forceful approach maybe, but that's just a loose thought.
yet another complaint thread. i'll say this and be gone. methinks is one word.
and i'll add this: TRUST BLIZZARD! have they ever done you wrong yet?
no because people voice their opinion and blizzard changes this. Why do people always seem to forget that... Also I dont like what blizzard is doing in terms of ART direction but the first topic is kind of-ya... And there are a lot of "ohoo lets worship blizzard and let them do what ever they want" threads too. Blizzard never fails us because people always voice their opinions. Theres nothing wrong with it.
Diablo 3 is purely the art of war. They took away pots so that people don't desert their comrades in the middle of battle to buy a couple in town(red orbs heal the entire team). They took away the tetris inventory because while you are jamming in another item, your teammates are being ripped apart. The battles in Diablo 3 will be so epic that you will not have time to pot spam or item jam, so get over it. Blizzard will make it their way and you will like it. Everyone that is bitching obviously has no faith in blizzard, and in my opinion, should be shot. Good day sir!
I honestly have no idea what you're so angry about. It seems like you're assuming a lot of things, which is unfair as you haven't actually played the game. As far as I've seen, the game actually seems to move more slowly than DII. One example, the scripted event where the Cultists raise that mini-boss, Thousand-Pounder. Personally, this part would make me slow down and think about what is going on, my actions, and my intent.
Rather than wantonly slaying thousands of demon bastards, we're slaying thousands of demon bastards with purpose.
You seem to be making a lot of generalized complaints without actually pinpointing exactly what you're angry about. No offense, but your complaint seems to be another generic "OMG WTF IS THIS WOW TRASH"-argument. So, what is it?

My complaint is purposely generalized because I didn't want to make another laundry-list. That has already been done countless times by others and myself (bottom link in my sig).

You have a good points about not having played it, and about the gameplay being slower. However by this logic it means they have doubly failed. Not only did they not make the gameplay faster like you said, but their effort resulted in the removal or replacement game elements that were not broken. Basically they seem to have dulled and dumbed the game down but giving it updated graphics/effects.
Any one remember the game Deus Ex? Compare that to the sequel, and how it removed countless skills, RPG elements, and many other things. It was taylored to be playable on consoles as well, and it looked great. But, not the same. Any one who played or saw both of these can see the analogy with Diablo 3. Maybe Blizzard has plans of releasing this on console, which is why they are removing so many of the complexities that gave character and immersion in D1 and D2.

Cool, a 20 minute gameplay video and you're assuming the worst? Shut up.
