Hello, this is my first post as I don't usually post in forums and whatnot, although i have been reading this one for quite a while (second week after the game launch).
My wizard ha been using the CM build pretty much since i hit 60 on her and now there is this news about the reduced proc rate for WW.
I would appreciate any insight other wizards out there have about the subject of the skill change and also any suggestions about my gear (any nice upgrade someone could point out for example).
Ps: didnt kill diablo yet with her, not because i can´t, more because it is too much of a hassle and I'd rather spend more time farming then killing him just for the sake of an achievement.
I think at first alot of people will be going back to a piercing orb build with blizzard, or an arcane orb build with some arcane power on crit. Both relying on some form of slow (either from blizzard or from the archer companion with a frost bow) and stutter step kiting.
With the major buffs to 2handers though another route (that I'm going to be taking) is with big amounts of crit and crit hit dmg with the slowest 2 hander I can find and arcane orb with obliterate rune. Giant crits in a kind of hit and run style where most of the kiting comes from staggering everything. I already use this build, but it's just going to get more potent with the new weapons (I'm hoping), I already land 320k crits.
Yeah i considered that idea but since i ditched my Sage Grasp Gloves that had high crit dmg when i found my current gloves I sorta decided I'd just focus on the CM build for good.
Also as for that arcane cannon build that would really be viable if you could put two gems in the same 2 handed weapon for really high crit dmg lvls because slowly shooting big bombs with a 1.0 atk per second weapon is sorta boring....
Would you have any insight as for a weapon upgrade. Im really wanting to get this wizard a new weapon that would allow for faster farming.
Also back to the main point of the nerf is there any other skill that might work instead of WW? Like meteor or something?
Our best bet is probably star pact/liquefy. In theory they should work as well as WW. Practically the long delay of the meteor skills make them less effective and much harder to use. However 1.0.4 will buff the meteor skill and as we don't know how the buff will exactly look like there is still hope that it will somehow make the skill a viable WW replacement.

As Blizzard said, as long as you have high crit chance, you won't even notice the tweak.
I really think ppl are getting ahead of themselves in this case. IMO you should go for more crit (It won't hurt anyway) and, about the weapon, the best way to go increase dps is with crit damage. Search for crit damage with 101 on the filters. It will get you a weapon with both passive crit damage and a socket.

If you're farming act1 or some parts in act 2 having a slow attack speed 2 hander (like .9 attack speed) allows you to cast disintegrate for like 30 seconds at a time. With high dmg and little or no defense makes farming act 1 and some prts in 2 a breeze. Feels like lvling up again.
It is a straight cut in half for the proc rate of WW... I fail to see how ppl are not noticing it stright out nerfs the build.
If u got 40% crit chance base now at 0.25% and sometimes you just dont luck out enough for the shell to bounce back up or the nova to reset u can die in one shot in act 3 and 4.... even with 1k res all.
So sure post nerf if u do have 60% crit chance ull still be having a result similar to today 30% crit... but getting to as high as 60% is not really easy at all!
So it is indeed a hard nerf, no matter how Cheng tries to throw us off.
Anyone has this build running with Meteor as your main CM trigger instead of WW? is it viable? if so what atk speed and crit chance/dmg is required for A3 and 4 farmin?
I plan to use the infinite archon spec with the Arcane Destruction rune."Arcane Destruction : An explosion erupts around you when you transform, causing 1600% (up from 450%) weapon damage as Arcane to all enemies within 15 yards." Can you say insane crits?
If you guys spent less time doomcrying and actually playing you might realize that Star Pact on Meteor works just as well as WW in a CM build. It is slightly worse when it comes to hitting a group of fast kiting elites but it is far better in terms of damage. With the alleged buffs coming to Meteor, 1.0.4 might actually make CM builds even better than they were before.

Does anyone tried a tornado barb? Well I did and it's a godmode playstyile even more godmode than CM wiz because they don't have any problem vs ranged elite packs
i belive the CM build got nerfed due the fact that wizard just constantly avoids dmg freezes everything and just kills it to the ground, where the ww build for barb being very effective also needs rly good gear(life on hit, lifesteal lots of crit dmg and crit chance) , and the wizard just needs alot of crit, everything else can be MF , doesnt even need resist gear ( i know cause i got a wizard with ~40% crit 150%mf and maybe 200resists all and I only have problems with shielded mobs and) wizard just pulverizesz stuff in ponyland since thers no ranged there. Kinda unfair against a barb that would need 800+ resists , ~40% crit chance, weapons with life on hit/steal socket/ crit dmg ( those go for millions ) and decnt HP and armor.

I run a 366% MF barb through act 3 and both of you got it right... It is godmode and yes it costs ALOT to get in working condition. And besides that it is hard to play too. The player needs to be able to pay atention to multiple things at once andd time skills right, besides very swiftly correcting his positioning in regard of where the mobs are. And whats more, amidst all the chaos onscreen gotta watch for the monsters attack animations, so there is time to actually dash away and not get hit...
WW barbs are not easy to play, cost a lot, but sure are fun ad effective once u can get past all the hard steps of learning it and gearing it.
But even so, Wicked Wind should not have been nerfed in my opinion.

Cancel it and recast. Gonna be a great spec for slow 2 handers with the explosion.
With my current gear I'll be critting for 2.2mil+ with the transform.
