Great job Blayreau. Only thing I dont like about the build is it reminds me of the old M6. What I mean is against the Rg, you build up your stacks, drop 2 Hydras, then hide while they do all the work.
The set is powerful, but like the poster above mentioned I suspect a portion of the power is from the new focus/restraint. Can you try some runs without those rings so we get a true barometer of the set's power?
in all three cases, this will work much much better if you have the bracers that make the Energy Twister pull mobs towards themselves (yes! they are in game now!).
Even without Focus/Restrain set , I've manage to improve my (admittedly low) top grift by 3 tiers - and could probably add another 4-5 on top of that, just scared of going too high on hardcore...
Ye, Vyr is terrible A shame though, archon is interesting, but nevermind. Tbh I don't think the change to 4-set firebird is a buff, I'd much rather have that 500 intelligence instead, no way am I gonna use a primary skill in a firebird build as the only one viable is mm conflagrate and it requires mirrorball to work. What I mean is that on normal server I couldn't reach 49 with firebird but I managed to reach 45 last era, struggling with 34 is not what comes to mind when talking about this set If you could check how well it works with those rings and report it would be nice ^^
Hi, I have been using DiabloFans for awhile now, but I have never posted anything. So this will be my first post. This might be a little irrelevant though. How about a wizard legendary that allows all runes on the Familiar skill to be used at once? I think that might fit in with the tal rasha set and it would be a really cool multi elemental attack montage.
I did 45 on live and it certainly was not easy and much much more difficult than what I can see on your video ^^ 44 is not easy either, wth that grift lv complete you must have been in the top 150 or so players in EU. Thanks for testing, there is also another idea that I thought about and you can try it if you wish. Broken Promises + SoJ or Unity. Pet attacks count towards broken promises buff, if we replaced all the crit chance for another stats we would get a real boost in survivability and attack speed for hydras. From what I've read DoT also counts towards the counter so it would basically mean 100% crit all the time as the dots can't crit but cc is counted into their dmg. That would more than double dmg output of a fire wizard if I'm not wrong.
I also feel that the 2 set is a pretty decent buff for the FB set. Though I only had a chance to test it briefly the meteor proc gives a pretty noticeable boost to your clearspeed.
The question would be (assuming the F+R combo stays unchanged, therefore pretty mandatory) whether or not the meteor boots would outshine TnT (and and more question about whether or not to use SS or Devastator). My thoughts seem to be in favor of the TnT setup, simply because once you get to higher grifts you really lose out on the ability to one-shot groups of mobs, so better sustained would be the way to go.
One can dream though, I really hate the way FB works, it doesn't feel very engaging with the DoTs.
1/ Mammoth leaves a stacking dot on the ground, so you can expect the uptime to be pretty high, even with 1 Hydra, but that's my guess.
Its hard to tell but from what I've seen i don't think the rivers add to the proc. that would mean the sticking rivers (5/6?) would go through the 5 non crits in 1 sec. I'm no seeing this now, but could be wrong. Maybe try blazing to see the result?
I tested it with nothing but mammoth hydra.
I can confirm that hydra procs it very quickly, and when you're fully ramped with a river, you never even see the buff fall off your sheet details tab.
Ok so after testing Tals for group play with a zDPS WD zDPS Crusader and a M6 DH its safe to say we have a spot for group play.
i was running a high cdr build with focus and restraint as my rings and at the same time i was not losing any amounts of CHD or CHC, with that said in mind i was also able to have 40% fire dmg on my gear that i obtained through wrists and a magefist but its possible to obtain 60% through the amulet which might need more testing (ill explain after why) I also had a ancient Sun Keeper with 28% elite dmg and a Ancient Tal Rasha's off hand. The skill build i went for was this and i was getting about 14 billion Molten Impact Crits per fire Meteor.
The way i played with this build was get to 2 stacks and then when Meteor would come off cooldown about at around 2-1.5 seconds before it would come off cooldown i would use Black Hole and as black hole is finishing Meteor will get off cooldown and i would cast it resulting in me having 4 stacks of the 6 set tals buff up and having the Molten Impact doing stupid amounts of dmg.
* The reason why im thinking its hard to tell if fireskill on amulet is needed is because you can sometimes time your meteor drops from your set bonus to drop at the exact same time all 4 of them which results in all of them doing a lot of dmg because some skills don't have a cast animation and you can cast all 4 skills and get your 4 stacks of tals buff with in the time it takes for the Meteors to fall down resulting in all of the Meteors to benefit from the 4 stacks of the tals buff.
Fire Skill 40% (posible 60% dont know if its worth it)
Elite Dmg 28% (Ancient Sun Keeper)
Meteor Dmg 44% (perfect is 45%)
Nilfur's Boast 395% (perfect is 400%)
Int 9254
Legendary Gems
Bane of the Trapped rank 52
Gem of Efficacious Toxin rank 54 (This gem is by far the best to use as its dmg increases with the tals 6 set buff and with the focus and restraint rings but its possible pain enhancer to be also very good didn't have a high rank Legendary gem)
Did some grifts on the PTR 4 man with 2 wizards as dps. Tal's is looking close. We'll see if they tweak it with some QoL changes to take it all the way home.
But good god the lag we create in the rift is fucking horrendous.
BTW is focus, restrain set bonus change retroactive? is it worth to farm them now?
Well, yes but I think it's safe to assume that the focus+rest ring set will get nerfed. I mean, right now every build is just using that combo for the 150% damage buff. They need to offer an alternative to rorg + soj or whatever but i think 150% is just too much.
I've been trying this and, true, insane damage even with really shitty items. (I'm wearing horrible tal amulet and focus/restrain, basically having 26% chc and so on). This set really needs a good skill setup. Half the problem was before you not being able to put together any real synergy besides EE, but item and follower procs fixed that sort of. Now you just throw together a nonsense build just to proc meteors which at least do damage now. It feels really clumsy.
Also Energy Twister is bugged?! I can't cast it over any gap or obstacle on the ground like you can do with every other spell. Also the bracer effect doesn't work on champions (even on knockback-able mobtypes)

im just brainstorimg about the skills to use. cant ET be substituted with blackhole? spellsteal? This will add +30% dmg from Strongarm as well for meteors, and since mobs are captured in the blackhole is a guaranteed hit. Or the new ET bracer still better?

Three more alternatives for TR 6pc:
Skies Crashing Down: Skills - this build requires The Grand Vizier staff to work.
Snowstorm pulse: Skills - this one can work with any weapon / offhand
Lightning hole: Skills - requires In-Geom and/or Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac.
in all three cases, this will work much much better if you have the bracers that make the Energy Twister pull mobs towards themselves (yes! they are in game now!).

There is no reason to play arcane hydra over mammoth hydra and black hole has too long cooldown to be used in tal rasha build.

Very nice videos thanks for the upload

Ok thanks mate!
Does wep dmg type proc a meteor? or only skill? e.g i have a wep with cold dmg, and i hit with fire conflag will it triger 2 meteor?

Really nice research and videos, much appreciated, was looking for exactly this kind of break-down. +1
That's beast man keep it up! Right now @Blayreau you're giving me a reason to keep playing D3!
nice work. Very promising. Can't wait to actually want to play wizard again.
