If Umaro is to host it though, then who can access it? We're quite a lot of members here, shold you be given access and what criteria do you have to fulfil in order to be granted allowance?
I don't really know where the line between SICK and Umaro goes either. Would it only be available to members of SICK, or to everyone else as well?

Among the gaming community Ventrilo is pretty much known, but WorldRaider was probably under the impression that everyone here is a die-hard gamer.
Obivously though, that proved not to be the case. And even if it had been, then there would still have been people unaware of what Ventrilo was, effectively shutting them out of the discussion.
It's simply common courtesy to explain what you want a discussion about if everyone can participate in it. Of course it's not reasonable to explain years of math experience to have someone's input on a mathematical problem, that won't work. But explaining what Ventrilo is used for is quite much more simple.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Ventrillo is like Team Speak. It lets you talk to each other verbally via a program that connects to a central server. You can get a free channel that can hold about 15 people or pay like five or ten dollers per month and get a 50 or so person channel.
It's useless for D2 but essential for FPS's.
...And its essential for many mmo's whom guilds need exact timing durring raid bosses and events. I've played and raided heavily in WoW and having 10-25 people in a voice chat program is vital. They really enhance teamwork and overall cohesion...and of course dick and fart jokes.

It's not essential. Nihilum didn't use any form of voicechat when taking down Illidan, and they were world first. I do not know however whether they utilize WoW's in-game voice chat or not, but I doubt it.

I hadn't heard that, but I'm not sure that Nihilum counts as being a normal group of players. They must have some crazy psionic link between them, cuz they do the impossible in WoW. For the rest of us average players, Vent and other such programs realy do enhance your raiding experience.

Xfire no doubt has many more features, but once there is a server to join, mass voice chats are very easy to do on Ventrilo. It is basically the same as joining a channel on LOD. everyone can talk to everyone, no invites, and no bringing up pop up boxes.
They can be done on Xfire, it just requires more work. Mass invites and what not.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
You can get free Ventrillo. Problem with free Ventrillo though is the 15 player limit.
Then again I usually don't see many people on here playing any one game so that might be fine. Get one for D2, one for SC, one for WC3, and one for WoW.
Meh, ventrillo you can get people to join by just telling them server and password or w/e, but in Xfire you have to invite them. Other then that, it's not very much work. But I could see your point.

It was just an idea. I see many good uses out of it.

You are so right. Leave and never come back.
And I like Ventrilo. I would second it for forum users to get it.
