SO, it's getting a little frustrating to see ZERO unique or set items drop in 4 paragon levels with 170 MF. Sorry for the vent! But is anyone else with me here? I went from level 16 paragon to 20 with out a single one. Also, I have noticed and this might just be a coincidence but I find my rare drops to pretty much suck all day and gradually get a little better the later at night you play.(well at least as far as rares go)
I know this is something being looked at in 1.05 BUT here's my problem. I dont want to be blizzards lab rat just to learn that everything i might of found in PTR is for nothing but there data analysis. UNIQUE drop rates can be fixed now in 1.04 as a hot fix. It's pretty simple. AND not to mention something everyone wouldnt mind seeing in a gear dependent game.
Again sorry for the rant. My reasoning behind it is that I am a father of 2 with a full time job. I do not have endless hours to spend playing this game. So when i do i want it to count for a little more. I feel like im doing my part putting in what time i can.
I've never found a set item. My wizard is plvl20 and my barb is plvl25. I have found a few legendaries doing act 3 clears. What I've noticed is that the bulk of them drop on weekends (or times when it's the weekend in the US).
I have less mf than you do. I don't get frustrated as I'm in my semester break and have heaps of free time but I can definitely understand how frustrating it would be to have constant let downs in a game you can only play in short bursts sporadically.

I'm at paragon level 2 on my toon, and I had 2 legendaries drop yesterday. Before that, I didn't get anything remotely usefull for a couple of weeks.
The droprates have always been low, which is part of the game. They're doubling it in the next patch. We do not know if it's simple or not, so I wouldn't speculate in "it's easy to do as a hotfix".
Just keep going at it or wait for the 1.05 before you continue. The choice is up to you.
I can't imagine it not being a hot fix. Seems to be a numbers game when they say they are going to "double" the chance. I'm sure there are more factors as to why they would want to do this, but doing it cannot be a huge patch issue.
You talk a lot, for someone who probably bought his MF gear.
I only found 3-4 pieces of it myself, the rest was from the gold AH from gold made from drops. Most pieces were under a million each (currently, they're under 500k each and next patch they will be near worthless). In fact, the most I paid for a single item was 10M for a 40% MF weapon (I ended up finding 2 after the fact, thanks MF!). I've yet to use the RMAH but continue to think that it's the only possible way someone could possibly have a MF set in this game....
The point of the post (which you completely missed) was that it's stupid to complain about drops when you aren't stacking the stat in the game that increases drops.....
Welcome to the club Nodnarb or should I say Brandon ;-)
I've gotten my wiz to pg9 and then it died (Hardcore) and my monk to pg5 (still alive) without any legendary at all but I'm not complaining. I remember doing mephisto runs over and over just to get that perfect Shuko. Took quite a while as well. At least here you've got a bit more diversity in champs/elites you encounter and it's not all about end-boss running like D2.
And since I haven't completed inferno yet on Hardcore I'm still happy ;-)
First off, congrats on getting that far HC, i wont even attempt it b/c server lag kills me at least once an hr . Secondly, I agree about trying to get that perfect shako, i loved those days... at least uniques dropped on the reg and it was more about the rolls. third. bosses drops for me are more time consuming and their loot is terrible compared to elite packs. IMO they need to buff bosses and their drops.
I would rather not get any legandaries and then finally get one that is actually good. I've had 1 set piece drop, in the 2nd week the game came out.
I just hit paragon level 30, so i've been playing quite a bit! In that time i've probably gotten about 8 legendaries, but they have all been worthless. Yesterday I finally got my first legendary above level 60, it was level 62 gloves, which ended up being frostburns that are worth less than a mil.
I'm the kind of guy that does full clears when farming. I break most barrels, open most chests and kill almost all white monsters. So I've gotten a lot of my legendaries from regular chests and white mobs. Do you think if I stopped going for all barrels, white monsters and normal chests I would have a better chance of getting the legendary drop from an elite, hence upgrading the chance it will be a level 61-63 legendary? Or is that not how it works? Everytime I get a legendary from a white mob or chest it ends up being a level 57-60 piece of crap, is that just random or do you have a better chance of getting a 61-63 legendary from an elite?
Why are so many people so upset over the low drop rate of legendaries? You must be the same people that try to sell complete garbage legendaries for 50 million gold on the AH because you think orange text = MONEY. Most of the legendaries are total garbage, or at best garbage with some novelty affix on them that's fun to play around with for a few minutes.
Are some of them worth a ton of money/gold? Sure. But the same is true of rares, and you probably find 50+ mil rares at about the same rate as the top legendaries.
If you continue to fail to recognize this, you're setting yourself up for a massive disappointment that will possibly end in a broken keyboard and a rage quit when you FINALLY see orange text only to discover it is a poorly rolled Tasker and Theo.
I'm quite sure the "RNG" Blizzard provides to this game.. is not that RNG at all.
Of course, I don't have any evidence of this, but there is something just off with some ppl getting legendaries all the time, and some other getting ZERO in a long period of time.
It is getting annoying now. Why do people complain all the time, i just dont get it?
#0 So, you got 170 MF. Congrats. That is nothing and you expect everything. I know your feeling to be honest, but you dont find any solution. Go get more MF, farm faster and be better.
I rather prefer a community playing the game, instead of criticizing it. This community tends to fail and expects a solution from the developers, instead of finding a solution.
I run around with 400MF level 65 paragon. I got about 40 brimstones and they are from the legendaries i couldnt sell(above iLvl 60). Yet, i dont get legendaries every game. On avg. i have to play like 2 hours to find a legendary/set and im pretty fast on the clearing.
Here is my wisdom: do not focus on farming items, just focus on leveling paragons! You will find your legendary/set. Do not complain, just focus on your leveling. You do not need to break every barrel you find(actually just stop it), instead be very fast and efficient.
Oh please, tell us more how much real money you "invested" in your character, or, how much time it took you to do that.
Oh, and btw, there is no wisdom, is just time/money.
took me around 15 full act 3 runs with 300 MF (with NV ofc) to get a legendary after i got 4 of them in 2 runs so MF doesnt mean much as luck
people that say they get a legendary every run or so are lying or lucky, MF has very little to do with it
Even your dry streak is averaging 1 legendary every 3.4 runs. I think 1 legendary every 2 runs is a good estimate if you are capped at MF (400+). Streaks happen. I've found 4 legendaries in a single game and then I'd go 5 runs without a legendary. That's how things work.
I'd agree that people saying they average 1 per run is off though.
If your looking at farming legendaries and 6 property rares what your interested in is the amount of item drops and your magic find.
The Ilvl of the legendaries from the barrels is just luck. I've gotten a legendary sword in act 1 from a barrel that I was able to RMAH for 50 bucks. That doesn't mean breaking barrels in act 1 is the way to go.
Check out the mf thread but just a quick bit of wisdom the NV stack rare a mob drops has the same chance of being a legendary as any white item you see laying on the ground that dropped from a mob. If you want legends its about getting items to drop, champ packs, white packs boss monsters its about getting those lottery tickets as quick as possible until you hit a jackpot.
Barrels and chests do not take into account mf so if your mf is low and its quicker to click on the barrel enough times for that cracked sword to drop then it is to kill mobs until an item drops go ahead and click on barrels. (you will need 2 items at 100 mf to every mob dropped item, I personally still open resplendent chests but I don't open normal chests)
It is getting annoying now. Why do people complain all the time, i just dont get it?

Real money? You know its not about using real money. What kind of argument is that?
If people who tend to whine, had enough money, do you really think, they got what it takes? I mean, they dont even search for any solution, how should they be efficient? It's all about giving what it takes and this makes the difference. This is why, people who are streaming, are much better than others, not because they use money, but they know what they are doing. And yes, time is money - why waste it?
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there is no "wisdom" or "knowing" in this game, it is all about how good is your gear, that translates into:
1- a high MF
2- killing speed.
Period. If you want to feel like you are doing things right, good for you, but its only about time/money. Those are the real variables in this game.
Ppl claiming that they are "good", or "skilled".. cut the crap, there is no such thing, of course you could be better at kiting, you can understand what build is better for your items, but at the end of the day, all of that is reduced to a binary gear check.
The only skill that I can see in this game, would be the PvP, and only when you compare 2 players with same stats (gear/level/etc) and most important, the same delay. Its completely different to be playing this game with 200+ ms all the time (my case) than rather playing it at 50- ms (US players).

Yes. Skill exists in everything. Anyone saying otherwise is trying to be an elitist or flex their epeen for retarded reasons.
Quite sick of reading this ! Sorry Nordicus I don't have anything against you but people saying random is random are getting anoying ! You can't justify the game sucking for some people just because it's good for other. This is not a good way to develop a game.
If you want to play a game where loot is not random, you are of course more than welcome to go and grind valor points in WoW.
But random loot is such an integral part of Diablo that if it wasn't random it just wouldn't be Diablo anymore.

I normally keep track of the number of runs it takes for me to get one.
the average is around 5 runs however the longest is 19 runs
that's easier said than done, what is your MF and how are your drops comparatively speaking?
404 MF after stacks. I would say on average, I get 1 legendary every other Act 3 run.
I'm not saying it's easy, but I'm saying you shouldn't complain about drops and ask for changes when your MF is so low.

We are talking about Diablo 3, not about the "AH game", which, IMO, should not exist in this game, or at least, not affect players who don't use it.
