Servers failed right off the bat, spent 45 minutes trying to log in for the midnight launch, just to sit at the character creation page. So I gave up and tried again today, got to play for one solid hour before servers went down again. To say I am disappointed would be an extreme understatement.
Like any other huge title! (also all of the wow expansions and the game itself)... no point for all you kids to whine about it! And I bet that even if you whine, you'll still grind mindlessly until both physically and mentally exhausted!
once they get this shit down it will all be fine. the playerbase for this game is crazy its prolly really hard on blizz to handle such a task and try to play as well.

Cataclysm was 100% perfect. The game played the same for me @ launch as it did the day before launch. Wrath was better than this but still meh. Everything else they've ever released with online components (including SC2) was a bad launch.
I will always remember that this game took way too long. There are lots of ideas that they ended up scrapping that never should have left the brainstorming sessions and caused long delays and wastes of time for their art departments.
The game is fun, absolutely, but that doesn't mean they won't get the blame they deserve for not improving anything from open beta weekend testing and for taking damn near forever for a game that could have been like this at least 2 years ago.

Coming from someone who likes to hide their age, you must be such a mature adult. Well actually what pisses me off is I actually work, and having the servers down for over 75% of the time I am able to play is quite upsetting. Of course I will still play the game, because it is simply amazing. Just wish they could have handled this better seeing as how it took them to actually release the game.

This only happens with Blizzard titles.
That's cause Blizzard makes games for the largest player base in the world. I don't have any statistics but can you really argue about this?

Remind me once again why I need to show my age to complete strangers? That's my business to handle :]
Ofcourse it is upsetting, but flaming the whole game just because of a laggy launch? That's plainly bashing the game without a reason. No wonder D3 has ~ 4/10 rating on metacritic(dot)com
Not that it matters, since they knew how many people would be playing and had plenty of time to prepare. A smaller game may need less servers, but they still need enough to handle everyone.
GW2 failed at this on the first beta weekend, they fixed it in 20 minutes.

Just remember that this is likely to be one of the best games ever made once the servers are stabilized.

Aren't you the WoW head that said you don't like diablo 2 because <insert everything under the moon> ?

GW2 Beta didn't have millions of players logging in simultaneously.
Doesn't matter how prepared you are, that many people hitting your servers are going to cause problems. The fact that some of us were actually able to play to begin with is astounding.

GW2 is you comparison point... oh my that is the problem right there These two games are not even close to the same size both in player base and in scale of the system that has been developed for D3
We used to have to blow a stream of a air into the game cartridges to get them to work.
there was not a forum to get on and bitch about the fact that in the middle of getting a piece of tri-force the system green-screened.
Haha, right on!

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.

One comparison point, because it was only a few weeks ago.

What's the big deal if someone knows how old you are? Unless you're trying to hide your age to look much older/younger on the internet for whatever reason... And the game isn't being bashed, Blizzard is. And to say they, as in Blizzard, not Diablo III, are being bashed without reason is very ignorant. It took them this long to release the game, they should have been prepaired.

And Blizzard happens to make games that are pretty popular.
My typical train of thought: Everything -> Sex -> Diablo
