With D3's current mesh-targeting system, I think it will be very easy to die in the game at higher difficulties. If you get overwhelmed by packs of monsters in all directions, good luck getting out (if you don't have a skill that allows you to run through them or over them, or teleport etc.). Any direction you try to move will result in attacking in that direction.
With Inferno's higher level monsters, AoE, etc. I think that being stuck in a certain area because of the mesh-targeting will end in death.
It seems like instead of fixing the targetting issue, they took the easy way out. You can now hotkey a button that makes you move. So it's like the reverse of the stand still button, and instead of clicking left mouse button to move, you can push this button and it will move youl. So I'm not too worried about this now. But instead it's going to suck balls when your trying to alternate your attacks between different enemies and can't get the right one clicked, but we'll see about that, I haven't had too much trouble with this sort of thing most of the time.
I'm worried that the monsters being only 1 level above us won't make much of a difference. They've said that Inferno will be almost impossible without farming Hell a bit before hand. But again we'll have to see about that. I'm worried that after playing Inferno for a while you'll out gear instead of out level. But if they tune it around having inferno gear, at least a little but of it, then it will be easy. Especially considering that we have a Blacksmith to make us Hell mode level stuff to even out what we haven't gotten in drops yet, I'm a bit worried.
They've said that multiplayer will not be like it was in D2 where everyone can run off in different directions killing stuff, your going to have to stick together and play as a team, or you're going to die, this is cool and the way I think it should be.
I think that Inferno will be about changing your build as you go to acconut for your weaknesses in a given situation. Not to say that you won't be able to make an all around build, but that to succeed without getting lots of really good gear from Hell you'll have to be updating your build on the fly to cover your ass when needed. I'm expecting it to be super super hard, but we'll see.

Make it difficult and for the love of everything that is beautiful please never nerf it, never, I do not want 5% debuffs, I do not want an "easier" inferno mode that drops less than savory gear, I want a challenge that makes you feel good when you finish it and then lets you come back and struggle again.

I hope it gets rly hard so you really have to work to get through it. Lets not just hope it will be like World of warcraft when suddenly everything got easy cause of whiners on forums...
@Damerflinn - Thanks for the info on the movement hotkey, I honestly didn't know they implemented it. I'll have to try it out when I get home from work.
I don't think the Inferno level mobs will only be 1 level higher, but instead vary from 1 level to whatever based on whether it's a boss, rare, champ, etc. I'm looking forward to finding out.
EDIT- To those who hope that Inferno does not get nerfed: Don't worry, they've already said that Inferno will not be for everyone and they will not bend to make easier. I don't doubt they might detune Nightmare and Hell for most people, but I don't think they'll touch Inferno.
The biggest problem with this, and any multiplayer game, is that when they make something really challenging for the best players (a small minority of players) the vast majority of people think it is much too hard. As a result, they either make it too easy for a small percentage of people or too hard for almost everyone, though since they don't think almost anyone will play past normal... I'm not sure it should be an issue if it's too hard for the people that never get there to begin with. We'll just have to see. No one except the people doing internal testing know what Inferno is actually like.

No one except the people doing internal testing know what Inferno is actually like.
The problem is that a large percentage of people will just play like parasites and join public games and follow people around to get through acts and difficulties. That on top of people possibly being rushed (if it will even be possible. I assume they recognize that as an issue in D2 and did something to prevent it) will mean there's a huge pool of people in difficulties that they don't belong, and especially since they are just leechers or rushees, they will have no gear and they will cry that they die right away.
I mean hell, even in the BETA, I was in this game with some barbarian who was just rushing through everything and not killing anything, while not wearing any armor. He nearly died dozens of times, and finally on the Skeleton King I let him die by ceasing fire so he wouldn't die. In the end all he had to say was "ress". These are the people who will ask for nerfs. And they're the ones that will probably get it, unfortunately.
Ive watched the "You will die" vid now about 10 times, and heres what i found so far.....
As to this... tbh whoever were controlling those guys in the videos seemed like terribads... (and wasn't all that footage the same b-roll footage anyways?)
The thing that really REALLY makes me nervous about this game is that its a Blizzard title. And by that I mean, look at WoW, nerfing stuff left and right to cater to casuals. The argument is that a high % of players don't get to experience a large portion of content, like original nax etc. But in this case, hopefully, they will say that inferno is the same content as Hell / earlier, only more difficult, therefore does not justify a nerf.
It would be sickening to spend time learning and competing in inferno, (also with a higher opportunity for gain in the RMAH as there would be fewer players in inferno) only to have it nerfed to the ground to have any scrub blow through it. I don't think that will happen... but given Bliz's stance on WoW, it makes me nervous.)
If they do end up nerfing Inferno, it would at least be nice if it's an optional difficulty wide buff you gain that can be turned off, and if you choose to leave it on, maybe it can impact the drop rate of items and gold. That way, the newbies can play in Inferno, but those that want the true challenge will still have the true rewards.
Afterall, if you nerf the content, only makes sense to nerf the drops as well. Same way that LFR raids drop lesser quality gear than normal in WoW.
I hope it's a challenge to a hardcore gamer. If I get to Inferno and I'm like "really, that's it?" I will be very put off and the game won't last long for me.
A. The game is very difficult and your chances of dying are very high.
B. The game is challenging, but it is possible to clear inferno content repeatedly without dying.
Option A is my preference, but in that case people who play in hardcore mode won't ever want to play inferno. Option B would still be viable for hardcore players, but it would be very boring for everybody else.
I know that Bliz has said that they aren't designing the game with hardcore play in mind, but are they really going to exclude a large portion of their playerbase from endgame? I doubt it. Especially with all this talk about designing the game such that our grandmas can pick it up and play.
Look at 1:05 in that video clip. The targeted mob has "Electrified Vortex Desecration Teleporter" That is a lot of enhancements for one mob in a pack of elites.

I think the reason why WOW gets so many nerfs is because it is a subscription game and they have to cater to the majority (normal terribad players) to make sure that they keep playing the game. Diablo3 is not a subscription based game, although blizzard may get some money for the RMAH, they no longer need to cater to the majority of the players as they initial game cost is the only guaranteed money that they are going to get from the player.
So in this case Blizz can just say "If you can't handle Inferno then stick to Hell or lower, Inferno is not meant for everyone."

Blue Post from Blizzard HQ:
We here at Blizzard have heard the cry of the lesser skilled players of Diablo3 and have decided to reduce the difficulty of the Inferno difficulty. We have reduced the level of all enemies and have decreased their resistance and the number of abilities that they are able to use at one time. We have made the mobs slower and dumber for you and have renamed the difficulty of Inferno to "Hell". We have removed the old Hell difficulty of the game and have replaced it with this new nerfed Inferno.
As for the more skilled hardcore players of Diablo3. We have decided to add a new difficulty level for your use only. This new difficulty will be called "Inferno" difficulty and will only be accessible after you have defeated the new "Hell" difficulty, or are grandfathered in by defeating the previous Hell difficulty.
We hope that we have answered the communities moaning and bitching cries about how difficult the old Inferno difficulty was. With love from Blizzard HQ "SUCK IT!!!" .
Diablo 3 Inferno difficulty can complete absolutely everyone who want (btw onHARDCORE – too) it’s all just depends on yours amount of CHI and level of perception and/or awareness in D3 game and in real life - that’s it!!!
I think some people will be disappointed about Inferno difficulty. While it probably will be challenging, the way that D2 Hell could sometimes be challenging without a bunch of mass-duped gear, I doubt you will go around and die every 10 minute unless you play perfect, as some people seem to be talking it up to.
What I hope for is a more tactical challenge in Inferno. Where you will die over time if you don't pay attention to your enemies and adjust your playstyle around them. It would be a shame if the difficulty only consisted of "this random mob might have a 1% chance to oneshot you", which is sadly the type of difficulty you most often see in A-RPGs - also in D2.
The Health orb feature on its own went a damn long way to achieve that goal, but we will still have to see how it actually turns out.
i hope that it will be imposible to clear Inferno alone. that you will need to play in 4 players party just to survive fighting with normal monsters and that you will need skills from more than one char. class
This I strongly hope is not the case. It is a multiplayer game if you choose it to be, and want to be involved with other people. But many people prefer to play by themselves. And if D3 if going to be taking elements from WoW in which coordination and boss tactics actually matter, the last thing I want is to be forced into playing with people, who are for lack of a better word, idiots.
Pretty sure I read that inferno can be completed solo.

You can't be serious. You can solo clear any area in D2 on Hell on p8 without being in any danger. That's barely hard enough.

Mobs have certain affixes in beta that could pan out to be very tough in Inferno, such as the ability to teleport or freeze you.
