I decided not to care when D3 will be released, and just surprise myself when I find out one day that the game is out so I can go "cool, I guess it's time to buy it" The more I think about it, the more impatient I get, and knowing that it won't be out for at least another year, I think it's best to forget about it.
I remember when I felt the same about SC2... 2-3 years ago. Beta is finally (really) around the corner but I'm not half as excited as I used to be.
Mathematics is a penumbra, those who hold such an affection to this noble field would find themselves into the realm of the Heirarchy of Abstracts and Paradoxes.
Zomg i hope they make game lists of normal and nightmare games accessable to hell characters. i hate trying to find nightmare baalruns (or something) when ive reached hell on a weak character
I have to say the wait is hard. When you make people wait and anticipate for so long it will serve to just amplify anything wrong with the game. Thankfully I really do believe the game is going to be amazing, and anythign decide I'm confident will be for the best. Bashiok has done well at dropping little things here and there for people to eat up and anaylze so I give props to him he is doing a good job helping keep the interest. I find though the things we are told arn't SUPER substantial. Its always this is what we are doing, possibly.... I wish we could have some sort of new announcement every month or two but that just isn't possible I don't think. And I guess they can't tell us anything because as soon as they say one thing if they change it later everyone will be all over them and who wants to deal with that? I'm sure they are doing their best and thats all you can really ask for right? So my opinion is they can take as long as they need.... but please hurry up! haha
I realize it takes a while to make an epic game, I just hope that I will still be interested/will have the time to spare for playing until it comes out because I am at the point when you have to start making some serious real life decisions. Probably 50% of D3 players will have never played D2 and 90% will have never played D1 because people move on from video games in 15 years time that it takes Blizzard to release the second sequel.

Pryda raises an interesting, and somewhat painful point. It is likely that Blizzard is not concerned about retaining their market of existing Diablo 2 players. With the success of the Warcraft and Starcraft series, Blizzard games warrant a buy and play from the majority of their fans, even if they have not played the previous game in the series.
It wil matter little to them that the people buying up D3 were not alive when D1 was released. And due to the changes in the market demographic, it is likely that Diablo 3 will have less in common with D1 and D2, and more in common with, say, WoW.
I am not begrudging Blizzard their success by any means, in fact it makes me happy to see videogaming continue to succeed. I just think that it is unrealistic to expect BLizzard to rush their production at the instistence of their existing fans when a fresh market will be their whenever they deem their game ready.
Similar to Pryda, I am also withdrawing from videogaming in lieu of real life responsibilities, and hope I hope that D3 comes out sooner rather than later. However, I understand why it may not, and because of that have resigned myself to the possibility that D3 may come out just a little too late for me.

The wait is hard, I can do it. I CAN DO IT. I have faith in Blizzard and they can take as long as they want (ok not long enough for me to rot and die) but as long as this game comes out a goddamn masterpiece, I'll have patience.
