Wiz - 1:36 (missile and orb spam, diamond skin to tank every thing)
There is why it took you longer to kill him. Orb is an AOE spell not really single target. Before you say it has higher damage, it is far out weighed because of the Arcane power cost. If you would have used ray of frost, and maybe even frost nova to freeze him every once in a while, I think you would have taken him down a lot fast as that is better for single traget dmg.
Apr 5, 2012Hahaha horrible, so when we kill demons when D3 comes out, we won't actually be killing them, we will just be transforming their energy. Wait..... Maybe this is the whole premise behind diablo and why he never stays dead.....Posted in: Off-Topic
Mar 21, 2012I think this is a great idea and it really covers off everyones objectives. We are killing more which expands the end game content, more loot drops for us which everyone wants. A nice little addition ofr both of us is well is the implications for the RMAH. More good loot drops = more items for sale of high quality on the RMAH = Lower prices because there is more supply on the market. This also makes Blizzard happy because it can potentially mean more trades on the RMAHPosted in: News & Announcements

I'm planning to quit my job before D3 is released. It's a dead end job anyway and I've been planning to quit for a while, have some money stored up so that I can go a few months without having to work. Think the right time to quit is when D3 comes out.
Respect - on so many levels. I love the foresight to save up as well, not a lot of people would do that. If your going to quit good to have something to keep you occupied and D3 will definitely do that.
Also just throwing it out there, maybe make a new interim career selling stuff on the RMAH? haha

I probably will not take time off... I have a big boy job... and they probably won't be happy about me taking work off for a video game...
I also have a "big boy job" (CA in public practice auditing) and I agree they wouldn't be too happy, which is why I'm not telling them the reason for the vacation as I don't need to, its my discretion what I take my vacation for. Plus with 100+ hours of OT I've worked since January it will go towards that. I totally get not wanting to tell your boss though, but I would just leave it out.
Also don't take your job too seriously, work so you can live, dont live so you can work.
Mar 15, 2012I just officially put in my vacation request for that week. I have a crazy schedule for that month, but as it turns out that is the one week I could possibly do it. Who else is with me?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

I'm willing to give it until the 26th. I think at that point my patience is pretty much going to run out. This situation reminds me of a quote from a very good movie. "You know what I'm going to do about it? NOTHING! Because if I take it to small claims court, it will just drain 8 hours out of my life and you probably won't show up and even if I got the judgment you'd just stiff me anyway. So what I'm going to do is piss and moan like an impotent jerk, then bend over and take it up the tail pipe!"

Feb 28, 2012Bridge_Burner posted a message on DiabloFans Calculator Build Contest (ONE POST ONLY)Here is my build as I see it right now, nothing to serious and will probably need some more tunning but its what I have so far:Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I call this the Frantic Wizard becasue it is based on freezing and slowing enemies and running around a lot. I find a like a lot of movement rather than standing still and spamming 3 or 4 buttons. I have forst nova and blizzard to slow enemies, blizzard is also my main AOE damager. I then have disentigrate and magic missle to finish of 1 or a couple ppl left over. I also put Archon in there to pop for difficult situations or boss fights.
Good luck to everyone that entered!
Feb 17, 2012I'm thinking the new class in the expansion will be based on a place we are going to visit as a result of the expansion. A couple years back wasn't there a lot of speculation about part of D3 visiting the homeland of the necromancers, but later blizz said that it didn't make it into the game? I don't have time to go back through all the blizz quotes but I remember one saying something around the lines of it was definitely a possibility for the expansion.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Necromancer I'm thinking!
Feb 3, 2012Definitely not this month. They need time after they announce a release date to ship it, increase hype/press ect. It will bei nteresting to see what they say in the confernce call on the 9th and if we get any hints from it. My own personal guess would be a late June release (I think the 28th or so?) as it has some significance for the franchise, I think it was the release of the D2 expansion? Not really backed up by anything just a gut feelingPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion

give the guy a break this will be lots of peoples first Diablo experience considering the last one came out over ten years ago.
Yeah.... I'm still one of the elitists that get annoyed at how blizzard lets anyone with a battle net account get beta. I really think you should have to have diablo 2 tied to your account for beta access (or at least a preorder).
I'm even more annoyed at all the forum noobs that came on this site just to gloat about getting beta (and have < 10="">
Because no of posts = being uber pro... right?
If you have Less than 25 posts and you come to this site within the last 3 days and mention that you got beta... get the fuck off this site. You do't ned to salt in our wounds. Alot of us having been checking this site daily... checking the oldtime blizzard.com site daily for diablo 3 news ... yet we don't get in because blizzard lets people that have never played diablo 3 opt in and get randomly selected (diluting the pool for thoe of use that have been truely obsessed with the game).
Its 3 seperate factors:
1.) You (not you specifically) never played diablo 1 or 2.
2.) You get beta and suddently you are on here talking about.
3.) All these beta wave noobs are spamming the forum with new threads asking the questions that have been answered repeatedly for the last 3 years.
I laugh at people like you.
I barely post, mostly browse to see whats going on every now and then. And YES, I finally got my copy of Beta today and I will rub it in your face. Does it mean since I barely post that I haven't played since Diablo 1? I've been gaming over 25 years - if anyone is a noob - it is you. I've been there since day one with Diablo 1, Hellfire, Diablo 2, and LoD - does that make me any better than the OP? No. Grow up, take a walk outside and calm down and show people common courtesy.
Oh and BTW, I am Loving Diablo 3 beta so far - just wish I didn't have to work 14 hours today but glad I got some time in before the maint. Even more glad knowing that you are raging that other people who you feel don't deserve to test beta have it and you don't. I'll name my next character after your forum name.

Jun 14, 2011I think the monk will be pretty sweet. I don't think it will be hte first character I make, but I'm still undecided. The combos will be interesting, but the mechanic I'm not crazy about is the auras.Posted in: News
To me an aura is permanent, not something that is a short burst. Maybe they wanted to stay away from that to avoid too much similarity to the Paladin, or maybe it would make them > then others in a party situation due to the constant buffs. Who knows but either way I'm sure it will work out, just release the damn beta already so we can see a light at the end of the tunnel haha
Jul 20, 2010Here's hoping that we find out a lot in October. Great article Scyber!! From a business standpoint it makes sense why we have so little new information. They have to drum up as much interest in blizzcon as possible. Its not just about diablo but all their other stuff as well. The more they can get any fan interested in the convention, the greater the chance fans will buy other products right now. You could say its the clam before the storm right now.Posted in: News
Apr 5, 2010A superstition I had way back when I was playing a lot and had my mf characters around 2002 was to never make a town portal on the same level as a boss. So for example I always did meph runs and I would set my tp on the durance level 2, never level 3. Don't know if that ever acctually did anything though! hahaPosted in: News
Mar 10, 2010I don't know if I'm crazy about the new resource systems. I liked the trademark mana, but hey I'm open to it. Knowing blizzard they will do it well. I love the fact that they went back to the tetris style inventory. I hate being able to carry like 20 weapons and armor at a time, just seems rediculous hahaPosted in: News
Mar 3, 2010Posted in: NewsQuote from "sylvainh2o" »Remember in Diablo2 by example when someone would put his name on a personnal item and then nobody wanted to buy it from him or at a fraction of the price? Well now we won't even be able to sell most of our items anymore so no more trading almost and this is supposed to help Diablo3 economy??? .
This isn't really applicable because its just completely different. The reason no one would want it is because there were so many other ones available so why take one that was personalized? Also I think you may be confused as to how many items will be BoE. Blizzard came out and said it would only be the elite high end items.
Quote from "sylvainh2o" »What if like everyone else i use items that at some point gets useless because i level up and then i would like to trade them to someone that needs it... Oh now i won't be able because it is now bounded to my character so all i can do is sell it to store or just delete it
Again you won't really have a problem with out-leveling BoE items as they will be the best ones you can get, can't go up from there
Mar 2, 2010Posted in: NewsQuote from "Gulliver" »This is my first post so be gentle please I'm from Finland btw.
First of all welcome!
Quote from "Zhar" »And naw, that would probably be pretty bad for the economy, because said cap would have to be constantly adjusted with the amount of players and accounts, else the highest items would reach a ridiculous price, and thus, instead of having an oversaturated economy, we'd have an undersupplied economy.
Zhar got it right, plus I think that would take away an element to the game. Even though I probably will never find a certain item, If I know for a fact I won't then I won't even try to do mf runs ect. As much as doing Meph runs over and over.... and over again sucks, I'll admit there is always that excitment when the drop comes!
Mar 2, 2010Like Bashiok said BOE is not a magic bullet, just one of the many aspects to control an economy. I think BOE is a great idea and I am glad they are having it. Its going to make it harder and take more skill. People will have to learn how to play with what they have more. There will be less "cookie cutter" builds as well as in every WW barb has to have THIS weapon ect ect. I just think it will force characters to be a bit more diverse.Posted in: News
As far as the economy, if you took it in school and actually understood it you won't be arguing on how this will kill it. Its going to fix prices and not have them fluctuate like crazy. What is the number one risk to currency? Inflation. How do you cause hyper inflation, de-value a currency and destroy it? Flood the market with the currency. That’s why countries, for example Canada, have a central bank. They fix how much currency is floating around in the market in order to keep the value some what stable. Take Vietnam. A while back they built a bunch of infrastructure. To pay for it they just began printing money and devalued the absolute crap out of it. Now the Dong is so low its really not even worth dirt. I know this is long and there are many more factors that go into currency valuation but this is just simple short example to try and demonstrate supply and demand.
Supply and demand is the basis of economics. What I was trying to show with the example is if you can control the supply you can fix prices somewhat. The demand for high level items will always be high of course, so fix the supply as well, you fix the price. There will be a little fluctuation of course but that’s what you want. BOE will help control this supply. Again it won't be a magical fix but its a step in the right direction for sure. I think we are all taking the D2 economy as well and applying the changes to that to see what the effect will be. This is just simply flawed. The D3 economy will be completely different and my guess is it won't be an item based economy. Expect a shift to the gold standard; it’s the easiest thing for them to manipulate the levels of in the game.
Again, I apologize for making this post long but I want to give one more example of the effects of controlling supply to kind of drive the point home. Everyone remembers when oil prices per barrel went crazy, up into the $150 per barrel at one point. There are a lot of reasons why this happened and that will be WAY to long to go into but for arguments sake let’s say it was completely because the supply and demand was out of whack. Again before I get some people trying to pick that apart I know that’s not the only reason why, again, arguments sake. Anyways the Saudi Arabians came out and said they wanted, and felt, oil should be at around $75 a barrel. Check the prices I believe it’s at around $78 today. It took a while to come to that level and there were fluctuations as with any open market but look at a 12 month chart and you can see it come up and level off around $75 for around the last 4 months. How did they do this? Controlled supply. When your one of the largest oil producing nations you can do this.
BOE is just one of the engines Blizzard is going to use to accomplish these ends. As I said before my bet is we are moving to a monetary standard so controlling the supply of the items will fix the monetary value of the item. Now, to control inflation of the actual monetary unit we will use there will be many gold sinks the game that they have already talked about. Same basic principles apply to that. So now Blizzard will control all supply and therefore fix prices and demand. Demand moves as an adverse function of supply (forgot to mention this). As one increase the other decrease and visa versa. Fix one you basically fix the other.
So, in my opinion, bravo  Blizzard your head is on the right track and you are well on your way to making a much more viable economy! God I can’t wait for this game haha.
(Wish this would have happened in university could have used this for the beginnings of a paper :P)
