Yes, the Warden was a server-side script that catches fast, bot-like actions and delivers temp-bans. Again, code written for an old system that's practically obsolete.

I wouldn't either.
I also don't want to DL anything that will get me banned the first few days into playing Diablo III and something tells me they are going to be hard on any kinds of hacks this time around.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
My Dad has made numerous hacks for the first Diablo.. not so many for the second. Could explain why he had several copies of Diablo II.. none were messed up or missing.

warden banned a rediclous amount of people, but you fail to realize EVERYONE except you 3, uses a hack.
That is so not right... I know plenty of people that never used maphack for d2...
I used maphack sometimes, back when i was younger and didnt understand that its more fun without the stupid maphack or dupes or whatever it is that you want to do and ruin battle net... Not talking about you in person, but im just saying, i hate hacks and especially ones that ruin the Blizzard games' battle.net experience for me.
My view: Map HACK. Hacks are bad. Bad is hacks. No hacks. Win.
It depends on the nature of the hack. In this case, it gives an unfair advantage to the users over other players.
What about a "Bunny Hack" where all the fallen are instead cute little bunnies solely for the delicate girl fan-base to enjoy (not that this exists). Is it still bad? No. Why? Because it doesn't affect anyone else in any way.

Yes, it is. Because it's a Hack.
If you wanted cute little bunnies, you don't have to hack, only change some things in the Diablo file to change the image of the monster in question.
And yes, that may seem like hacking, as it's changing the files, but it's not a third party program. There are certain programs that will let you do this, and, if you ask Blizzard for permission, I'm sure they'll be fine with it. It's only texture editing, anyway. And only you will see the bunnies, no one else. Why would you want bunnies in Diablo? Beyond me.
There are other ways to go about what you want other than straight for hacks.
The bunnies were just an example.
And if you think even the bunnies are bad because they're a hack, then why would blizzard be happy to allow this program to change your files for you? Because it's not bad, or, in other words, it doesn't affect anyone else in any way.
Well, I'll just go back to my main point, then:
A hack is a hack, regardless. If Blizzard says "No" then they mean "No" not "Yes, as long as it is just for fun." Not that it would hurt, but I'm not the creators of Diablo, so I don't know what they like in their games.

Blizzard would not allow you to do that either, since it is modifying the game. No form of modification whatsoever must be done to the game while playing on Battle.net.
Making bunnies is bad, why? Because they can be modified to be bigger, so you can target them easier, or brighter, so you can see them easier, in both cases giving you an advantage over other players. This is precisely why all such mods for WoW are strictly prohibited, and they are for D2 and all other Blizzard games as well.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

They were looking at possibilities of certain features to be pay to play I think. This might be something they could consider. You spend 10 bucks or whatever and bam you get open maps for 1 month. It'd piss a lot of people off but I'd probably end up buying it in the end. With the uprising from the diablo community I think they probably won't do something like this.

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.
What if you do something to make the game harder for you Like making everything 90% transparent
Well Blizzard has no way of knowing if you do that, plus actually making a judgment call on thousands of different occasions is not something anyone would like to do. Plus the incompatibilities arising from different files is another issue when people start to play with each other.

Yeah, a lot of people would be mad. And it would certainly give a massive advantage to everyone who did pay 10 bucks. So the likelihood on it happening isn't too big I think.

I will say when I first played Diablo 2 I played every ACT on every difficulty and enjoyed it however after you complete it the first time there is no way in hell you want to do it again. Maphack became a necessity for Mfing the goal was to quickly move through the lands.
An easy replacement would be to make area maps purchasable. For example you want to kill Hell Meph so you buy Durance lvl 3 map for 100,000 Gold. You have to buy it every game that you make. It could make Gold viable and you wouldn't need Maphack then.

There is no situation whatsoever in which you need maphack, only those in which you want it because you're lazy. I did plenty of magic finding over the years, and never once used maphack because it felt dishonest and because, doing usually just mephisto, pindle, or baal runs, it didn't save that much time.

I dont like map hack. I did use it at one time but I didnt like seeing all the shit going on and it was unfair to others. Also I also MFed alot without map hack. I practicly memorized Durence level 3 map and I know if the waypoint is a certin way theres a huge chance that the level 3 would be in this direction.
