5 years ago games were $100 a piece, was this the case for everyone?
5 years ago? 2002? Umm, no, they still cost $59.99 at our stores...
Back in 1996, we could buy a package for like $20 that had WarCraft II, Heretic, DooM, heXen, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolf 3D, and about 50 other games. That was in Russia though.
I'd pay 200 for any blizzard game. Some other games you play trough in 2 weeks - 2 months. Blizzard games you play 2years - 10 years. So the cost of the game is actually a lot less than many other games out there. If you compare it to the amounth you play.
But yeah it will be the regular price that is 49 euros in here actually.
And we will probably pay between $70 - $95 For any expansion. $70 NZ is about $35 - $40 US.
My math is not so good, and I forget the conversion rate.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

In New Zealand we generally pay $100 for the original, and $70 for the expansion. At least initially. After a while the prices go down.
After some research $100 NZ = $72 US, So that makes it $70 NZ = $51 US
A single NZ dollar will net you 70 cents US.
But then you factor is the fact NZ has some killer stupid taxes.
A CD in NZ costs 34.95, that same CD in US costs about $20. Not the 25.44 it is with a direct conversion.
My earlier estimates, did not factor in NZ's horrific taxations. However that does not change the fact I will still be paying $100 for D3 upon initial release in my country. and $70 for any expansion.

Ouch, that sounds painful.
Games here are usually 50-60$ and the expansion about 40$ or so.
Not really, its just how our currency is. It's all just an exchange.
To me $100 for a new game is normal. But for you $50 might be the norm.

It's only pay to play if you count the original price you pay for the game, and regular internet fees.
There is not additional costs, like a monthly fee.

I would not be surprised if it released with a price tag of $69.99
and I probably would buy it at that price.
for a cool collector's edition though, I'd pay up to $170
Well there's a difference in what I think is a reasonable price and what I would pay if push came to shove. I'l like to pay between $50-$80. However if they released the game and it was going to be $300 I would probably still pay that much. That may sound crazy but I typically get 2-3 years of use out of most Blizzard games. To be entertained for that amount of time for $300 is a bargain. I spent $600 on a deep sea fishing trip and that only lasted one day.
I think it will cost $60-$70. The thing is, yes, most of us nerds would pay $100 or over, but they want other people to buy it as well, and I've never seen a computer game that cost more than $70.

The expansion sounds about right but I think 70$ US sounds a little high for a game. Maybe though.

Yeah 100$ is my max. If it's 100$ AND pay to play, noooo way.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
and I probably would buy it at that price.
